It’s the morning of Deter’s birthday. James is at practice for a couple hours. Melody is setting up Deter’s party in the backyard with James’s mom’s help.

Deborah - Deter is going to love this.
Melody - He likes watching his momma play Zelda so I’ve transformed the backyard into the kingdom of Hyrule.
Deborah - This is so wonderful. Are you going to dress him in that adorable chicken costume he wore for Halloween?
Melody - Yes
Deborah - Sounds like James is home.

James comes out to the backyard and sees what Melody has done to it.

James - Wow, you went all out for our son.
Melody - Only the best for our little boy.
James - Do you need any help?
Melody - Bring the gift bags out and set them on the table.
James - Ok

James goes back inside and brings out the gift bags. He puts them on the table. Just then Elyse, Christian, Leslie, and much to Melody’s surprise Kaylee shows up to help celebrate Deter’s birthday. They all put their gift bags on the table with the others. Melody tells James to go get the birthday boy. James goes inside to get Deter. They come back outside a short time later. The party lasts for a couple hours. Just before Deter opens all his presents Melody feels her water break and then the contractions start. She is too far into labor to make it to the hospital. James and his mom hear her crying in pain. They find her by the back door.

Deborah - These babies are coming now.
James - What do we do?
Deborah - Use your cell phone to call 911 and bring pillows and blankets.
James - Ok

James calls 911 for an ambulance to come to the house cuz his wife has gone into labor. He tells the 911 operator that Melody is a week from her due date. The operator tells him exactly what to do to deliver the twins at home. James grabs everything the operator tells him that he will need. He goes back outside. He gives his mom everything. James tells Elyse, Christian, Leslie, and Kaylee to take Deter inside and play with him. Elyse scoops up Deter and takes him inside. James goes back over to his mom and Melody. He sits down next to Melody and holds her hand. James’s mom is telling Melody one big push and the first baby will be out. Melody pushes as hard as she can. The first twin is born at 1:30 PM. The ambulance shows up and loads up Melody and the first twin. James and his mom take his car and follow the ambulance to the hospital. The nurses take the first twin to the NICU to see if she’s ok while Melody’s doctor puts her and James in a delivery room. A few hours later Melody delivers the second twin. The nurse brings back the first twin so Melody and James can see her too. James smiles when he is handed one of the twins.

James - Hey there little one. I’m your daddy. You’re just as beautiful as your mother.
Melody - They are beautiful little girls aren’t they? We should let your mom see them.
James - I’ll go get her.

James goes into the waiting room near Melody’s room. He tells his mom to come see her new granddaughters. James and his mom head back to Melody’s room. She smiles when she sees Melody holding her little girls.

Deborah - Oh guys they are so beautiful. Do these beautiful little girls have names?
Melody - Would you like the honor of helping us naming them?
Deborah - James, why don’t you look up baby girl names on your phone.
James - I can do that. (Digs out his phone and starts listing off names) Abigail, Amber, Brooke, Brianna, Courtney, Caitlin, Dakota, Destiny, Eve, Ebony, Faith, Francesca, Ginger, Georgia, Hannah, Harper, Ivy, Ingrid, Jordan, Julia, Kayla, Kendra, Lila, Lydia, Melanie, Miranda, Nicole, Noelle, Olivia, Phoebe, Piper, Quinn, Riley, Roxanne, Sophia, Stella, Taylor, Trinity, Uma, Vanessa, Victoria, Willow, Willa, Xena, Yvette, Zoe, and Zelda.
Deborah - What about Harper Riley for one and Kendra Roxanne?
Melody - I love both those names.
James - So do I. Lets make those the names for our little girls.
Melody - Sounds good to me.
James - Ok, I’ll go deal with the birth certificates.

James leaves the room to deal with the birth certificates. Melody and James’s mom then talk for a while.

Deborah - No doubt about it. You and my son make the most beautiful babies.
Melody - We do don’t we.
Deborah - Yes you do. You ok dear?
Melody - Just tired
Deborah - Well sweetie you did just give birth to twins.
Melody - Maybe I should take a nap.
Deborah - I think I’ll go when James comes back in the room. You two need bonding time with your little girls.
Melody - Ok and thank you for everything today.
Deborah - You’re welcome sweetie.

James comes back into the room. James’s mom leaves and heads back to the house to check on things there. James sits on the bed next to Melody and wraps his arm around her.

James - I love you so much honey.
Melody - I love you too James
James - You look tired baby.
Melody - I am tired.
James - Then take a nap sweetie.
Melody - Will you stay with me?
James - Of course I will.

James lays down so that Melody can cuddle with him. She snuggles up to him and goes right to sleep. James wraps his arm around Melody and goes right to sleep until later that night. Melody stays in the hospital for a couple days. She and the twins are allowed to go home. A few weeks pass. Ian comes back to Nashville cuz he wants to meet Melody’s friend Kate who will be in town for a few days.
