Melody and the kids fly back to Nashville and drops the kids home at home. James’s mom watches them while Melody runs to the hospital to see how bad James is injured. As she’s driving she begins thinking about the fight she had with James and blames herself for what happened. Melody asks one of the doctors where James’s room. The doctor leads Melody to his room. Melody goes in and starts to cry seeing him laying on the hospital bed with an IV going into his arm. She goes over to his bed and sits in the chair by his bed. She starts holding his hand.

Melody - James? Honey? I’m here for you. I’m so grateful that you’re going to be ok. I should have come home so this wouldn’t have happened. (Starts to cry again) I love you so much. (Leans forward to gives James a kiss)

Just then James wakes up and weakly smiles at Melody.

James - Hey baby, what are you doing here?
Melody - I had to come be with you when your mom called to tell me that you were injured.
James - And I’m so glad you did. (Caresses Melody’s cheek)
Melody - You sure?
James - Of course baby. I‘m truly sorry for accusing you of cheating on me and for being such a jealous jerk.
Melody - I‘m sorry too for becoming friends with Ian. I’ve been blaming myself for what happened to you.
James - You have no reason to be sorry. You can be friends with whoever you want. I shouldn’t have overreacted. I know you would never cheat on me. Do you forgive me?
Melody - Of course I do. So what’s wrong with you?
James - I broke my ankle and I have a concussion.
Melody - Do you need anything?
James - Just you. I’ve really missed you baby.
Melody - I’ve missed you too James.

They begin looking into each others eyes and begin to kiss. They continue to kiss until James falls asleep. Melody runs her fingers through James’s hair, gives him a kiss, and tells him how much she loves him. She gets into James’s bed with him and wraps her arms around him hold him close. She is asleep a short time later until the next morning. A few days pass. James is allowed to go home. James’s mom has set up the guest bedroom down stairs up for James so that he doesn’t have to go up stairs. Melody tells him to go back to bed and that she’ll be in later to check on him. She closes the door so that he sleeps. James goes back to bed for a couple hours while Melody and his mom talk.

Deborah - I’m so glad you came home to take care of him.
Melody - I had to. I love James so much and it was killing me being away from him.
Deborah - I know you love him and I know you would never hurt him.
Melody - I’m going to go check on him.
Deborah - Yes, you should be with him. You two need some time alone.

Melody gets up from the couch to check on James. She lays down on the bed beside James.
She gives him a kiss, wraps her arms around him, and goes right to sleep until the next morning. She wakes up and sees James is still asleep. She runs her fingers through James’s hair while she gives him a kiss.

Melody - (Whispers in James’s ear) I love you so much James and so glad you’re going to be ok.
James - (Wakes up and sees Melody smiling at him) I love you too.
Melody - How are you feeling?
James - My head hurts and I feel like I’m in a fog. My ankle hurts too from having surgery on it.
Melody - Just go back to sleep.
James - Will you stay with me?
Melody - Of course I will sweetie. I’m not leaving your side.

James snuggles up to Melody and goes right back to sleep. Melody wraps her arm around James and goes back to sleep till later that night. James wakes up and gives Melody a kiss.

James - (Nuzzles Melody’s neck and whispers in her ear) I love you so much baby.
Melody - (Wakes up to see James smiling at her) I love you too James.
James - I just wanted to tell how much I appreciate you taking care of me.
Melody - It’s really no problem sweetie. I would do anything for you.
James - I know you would and that’s why I love you so much baby.
Melody - (Gives James a kiss) I love you too.
James - (Smiles) What was that for?
Melody - I just feel you need some extra love while you’re hurt.
James - Thanks baby it does help me feel a little better.
Melody - Are you hungry at all?
James - Can you make me some of my favorite chicken soup?
Melody - (Smiles) Of course I will if it’ll make you feel better.
James - You’re so great.
Melody - I already knew that.

They begin looking into each others eyes and begin to kiss. The continue to kiss until Melody gets up from the bed and goes to heat up some chicken soup for James. James grabs his crutches and hobbles to the couch in the living room. He sits down. Melody grabs over of the TV trays and brings it over to him. She then brings his soup over and sits down next to him. As he’s eating James takes a hold of Melody’s hand and smiles.

James - Thank you for taking such good care of me.
Melody - Like I told you before baby I would do anything for you.
James - I know that and that’s why I love you.
Melody - I love you too James.

James finish his soup and then hobbles back to bed. Melody takes his bowl and spoon out to the kitchen sink. She then goes to lay down with James on the guest bedroom bed. She sees that James is already sound asleep. She lays down beside him and wraps her arms around him holding him close so that they’re spooning with one another. She’s asleep a short time later until the next morning. It’s the next morning. James and Melody are still asleep and still cuddling. James wakes up and gives Melody a kiss.

James - (Whispers in Melody’s ear) I love you baby.
Melody - (Wakes up to see James smiling at her) I love you too. How are you feeling honey?
James - My head still hurts a little.
Melody - Did you need one of your pain pills for your headache?
James - Could you go get me one?
Melody - Of course I will sweetie.

Melody goes into the bathroom and gets James one of his pain pills his doctor gave him for his headache. She goes back into the bedroom and gives James his pill and a glass of water. A little while later James is sound asleep after his pain pill kicks in. Melody wraps her arm around him and stays with him for a little while. She gets up when she hears Deter wanting in to see James. She quietly opens the door and scoops him up and puts him on the bed next James. Deter crawls over to James and curls up next to him and goes right to sleep. Melody smiles and quietly leaves the room.

Deborah - How’s he doing?
Melody - He is sound asleep and you have to go look in the bedroom.
Deborah - Aww, did you let Deter see him?
Melody - (Smiles) See for yourself.

James’s mom pokes her head into the guest room and sees James and Deter sound asleep. She smiles seeing the boys sleeping.

Deborah - That is so cute. Deter sure missed his daddy.
Melody - It killed me when I went to see my sister when he would cry out for James.
Deborah - Poor little guy. He was crying for James while you were at the hospital. I sprayed that cute chicken James got him for his birthday with James’s body spray so that it smelled like James. He seemed happier. Can you hear him giggling?
Melody - I can hear them both laughing in there. I’m going to see what’s going on in there.
Deborah - I’ll go start dinner.

Melody goes in the guest bedroom to see what all the giggling is all about. She stands in the door way and smiles seeing James and Deter playing with Deter’s plush chicken. James then sees Melody and smiles.

James - Oh hey babe. Didn’t see you standing there.
Melody - I could hear you two giggling out in the living room.
James - Come lay on the bed with us.
Melody - Well ok

Melody goes over to the bed and lays down with James and Deter. Deter starts laughing having both his parents with him.

Deter - I love Momma and Dada.
Melody - Aww, we love you too baby.
James - We sure do and we promise we won’t ever fight again and separate this family.
Deter - Momma I ungry.
Melody - Grandma is making dinner.
Deter - Ok Momma.
Melody - Daddy and I forgot to give you this on your birthday.

Melody hands him a mini hockey stick. Deter squeals excitedly.

Deter - Ockey ick.
James - Now you can play floor hockey with me.
Deter - Yay (Claps)
Melody - Sweetie, why don’t we go check on dinner? Daddy needs to rest.
Deter - Ok Momma

Deter crawls over Melody so that she can scoop him up. They go out to the kitchen to see if dinner is ready. When Melody and Deter leave the room James goes back to sleep.

Deborah - How’s James doing?
Melody - He’s sleeping again.
Deborah - If he wakes up later get him to eat something.

Just then James hobbles out to the kitchen and sits at the table.

Melody - Hey, I thought you were sleeping.
James - I was but I was starting to get hungry.
Deborah - You do need to eat sweetie.
James - I know I do.
Melody - Then you can go to bed and I’ll come with you so we can cuddle.
James - (Smiles) That sounds nice. A massage would be nice too.
Melody - Aww, I can do that.

James’s mom then dishes up dinner for everyone. James and Melody start holding hands as they’re eating.

Deborah - Aww, just look at you two. So cute and so in love.
James - Maybe it’s just me that my injury is pushing us even closer together.
Melody - Aww, no it’s not just you sweetie.
James - I’ve been thinking. Lets go somewhere just the two of us after I’m healed.
Melody - Aww, I would like that.
Deborah - And I can watch the kids for you. You two need some adult time.
James - I’m going to head to bed.
Melody - Ok, I’ll be right there sweetie.
James - Ok

James gives Melody a kiss, grabs his crutches, and hobbles to bed. Melody and James’s mom clean up the table. Melody takes Deter up to bed and checks on the twins. She goes back down stairs and goes into the guest bedroom and sees James waiting for her. She lays down on the bed beside James and gives him a massage until James tells her to stop. They begin looking into each others eyes and begin to kiss. James sighs as they start to cuddle.

Melody - What’s wrong sweetie?
James - I just want to have sex with you.
Melody - Babe, we should wait till you’re feeling better. I would hate to hurt you more.
James - I know but I just want you is all.
Melody - You look tired sweetie.
James - I’m very sleepy.
Melody - Then lets just go bed.
James - I love you baby.
Melody - I love you too sweetie.

James lays his head on Melody’s shoulder and goes right to sleep. Melody wraps her arm around James and goes right to sleep until the next morning. A few months pass. It’s now May and now the off-season as the Preds didn’t make the playoffs. James and Melody have decided to take a little vacation. Just the two of them.
