It’s the week of Christmas. Melody is done at the doctor and is doing some last minute Christmas shopping. She finds a create your own jewelry shop as she’s walking back to her car. She goes in and talks the lady working there.

Sales lady - Can I help you hon?
Melody - I would like to make a chain for my husband.
Sales lady - What kind of chain would you like to make him?
Melody - He plays hockey for the Preds so I would like it to be a hockey themed chain.
Sales lady - So you want crossed sticks as the pendent?
Melody - That would be great. Can our birthstones be added?
Sales lady - What are your birth months?
Melody - His is September, I’m January, and our son is March.
Sales lady - You appear to be pregnant. Would you like to add your baby’s birthstone after it’s born?
Melody - That would be great. I’m having twins and they’re due in March.
Sales lady - Do you want the chain to be silver or gold?
Melody - Silver
Sales lady - Ok, I will get started on this and will call you when it’s done so you can pick it up.
Melody - Alright

Melody gives the sales lady her cell phone number and then heads home. James is already home and taking a nap on the couch. She takes Deter up stairs and puts him in his crib for his nap. She then quietly goes back down stairs and lays down on the couch beside James. She wraps her arms around him and goes right to sleep until later that night. James smiles when he feels Melody holding him. He turns over and gives Melody a kiss when she wakes up.

James - What a nice sight to wake up to.
Melody - I love you.
James - I love you too.
Melody - I went to the doctor while you were at practice.
James - What did she tell you?
Melody - That everything is ok in there and I’m right on track to have the twins in March. She said I don’t have to go see her again until the 7 month to make sure I don’t go into labor early.
James - I guess we can do that.
Melody - Is your mom joining us for Christmas?
James - I’ll have to call her to make sure.
Melody - My sister and Christian are coming down. Leslie can’t make it she’s going somewhere with her family for Christmas. Elyse said she and Christian had some kind of announcement they wanted to make and wanted everyone she cares about to hear.
James - Do you think she and Christian are dating?
Melody - I think they are. Was it just me or did she look pregnant when she was here in October?
James - I was thinking the same but didn’t want to say anything.
Melody - I’m sure she’ll tell us if she was.
James - That’s right. I think I’m going to call Mom.
Melody - I’m going to go fix dinner.

Melody gets up and goes into the kitchen to make dinner for her and James. James meanwhile calls his mom to see if she’s coming down for the holiday.

Deborah - Hey sweetie, what do you need?
James - Just wanted to make sure you were coming down for the holiday.
Deborah - Of course I am.
James - Great, Mel will be happy to hear that.
Deborah - How’s she feeling?
James - She had a rough week last week with the morning sickness. I hope her being sick stops.
Deborah - Poor girl I hope she starts to feeling better.
James - I wish there was something I could to make her feel better.
Deborah - Get her some ginger ale for her to drink.
James - That’s a great idea. I should go Mom. Mel has dinner waiting.
Deborah - Ok, talk to you later sweetie.
James - I love you Mom.
Deborah - I love you too sweetie.

James and his mom hang up. James goes into the kitchen and helps Melody set the table and lights a couple candles. Melody dishes and joins James at the table. As they’re eating Melody takes a hold of James’s hand and tells him how much she loves him. They get done eating. James helps Melody pick up the table. They go over to the couch and start cuddling until Melody falls asleep. He decides to take Melody up to bed. He picks her up and carries her upstairs. He takes her into their bedroom and gently lays her down on the bed. James goes into Deter’s nursery to check on him. He picks him up and goes over to the rocking chair and starts rocking him as he gives Deter a bottle. James gently burps Deter and puts him back in his crib. He leans forward and kisses Deter on the forehead and tells him how much he loves him. He leaves the nursery and goes back into the bedroom. He lays down on the bed beside Melody. He wraps his arms around her so that they’re spooning with one another. He’s asleep a short time later until the next morning. Melody wakes up and sees that James has left for the morning. She gets a call from the lady at the jewelry shop saying the chain is done and that she can come get it. Melody gets dressed quick. She grabs Deter and then heads to the jewelry shop to get James’s chain. Melody has it gift wrapped. She heads back home before James realizes that she left. She goes up stairs and puts Deter back in his crib. Melody goes back down stairs and decides to have lunch ready by the time James comes home. He comes home and goes into the kitchen and wraps his arms around Melody. He starts nuzzling and kissing her neck. He then whispers in her ear.

James - I love you baby.
Melody - (Sighs)I love you too.
James - Is lunch almost ready?
Melody - Sure is sweetie. Why don’t you go set the table?
James - I can do that.

James sets the table and lights a couple candles. Melody dishes lunch and joins James at the table. As they’re eating Melody takes a hold of James’s hand and tells him how much she loves him. They get done eating. James helps Melody pick up the table. They go over to the couch and start cuddling until they both fall asleep. A few days pass and it’s now Christmas Eve night. Elyse, Christian, and James’s mom have come down to spend the holiday with James and Melody. They’re all in the living room. Elyse and Christian laugh while James’s mom smiles when they see James and Melody asleep and cuddling.

Elyse - Can you guys see these two over here?
Deborah - They look so cute cuddling like that.
Christian - I’m so happy she finally found someone who loves her.
Elyse - Aww, I know you are. She finally looks happy with James.
Deborah - I’ve never seen a married couple so in love like these two.

Just then James wakes up

Elyse - Sorry James didn’t mean to wake you.
James - It’s ok
Deborah - Melody looks so cute cuddling with you.
James - She’s really tired. She hasn’t been sleeping well since her belly has gotten bigger.
Deborah - Why don’t you take her to bed?
James - Sounds like a good idea. See you guys in the morning.

James decides to take Melody up to bed. He picks her up and carries her upstairs. He takes her into their bedroom and gently lays her down on the bed. James goes into Deter’s nursery to check on him. He picks him up and goes over to the rocking chair and starts rocking him as he gives Deter a bottle. James gently burps Deter and puts him back in his crib. James is opening the box that has the chain Melody has made for him. He smiles and gives Melody a kiss.

James - Thank you so much for the chain baby. It was very sweet of you to have this made for me.
Melody - You’re welcome sweetie. This way you always have me and Deter with you when your gone on road trips. If you noticed all our birthstone are on the one stick.
James - Oh I hadn’t noticed that. You are so good to me and I love you with all my heart.
Melody - I love you too.

James’s mom, Elyse, and Christian leave so James and Melody can be alone. James grabs Melody’s arm and pulls her close to him. They begin looking into each others eyes and begin to kiss very passionately.

James - I love you so much right now baby.
Melody - I love you too James.
James - Lets go up stairs.
Melody - Sounds good to me

James and Melody go up stairs and then go into their bedroom. James lays on their bed. Melody goes into bathroom and changes into piece of lingerie that James got her when he was in Pittsburgh. She goes back into the bedroom and lays down on the bed next to James. James grabs Melody’s arm and pulls her close to him. They begin looking into each others eyes and begin to kiss very passionately. They continue to kiss when James runs his hand over Melody’s body.

James - Damn, you are so sexy baby.
Melody - (Sighs) Oh James do you really think that about me?
James - Of course I do. My heart skips a beat when I’m near you.
Melody - Even with my less then perfect body?
James - Baby, your curves are sexy and you don’t have to have the perfect body for me to love you. You’re sexy just the way you are.
Melody - That’s so sweet and it means a lot that it doesn’t bother you that I’m not a model.

Melody lays her head on James’s chest and goes right to sleep. James smiles when gives her a kiss and wraps his arm around her. He’s asleep a short time later until later that night. During Christmas dinner Elyse and Christian announce that they’ve been dating for at least 5 months and that Elyse is 3 months pregnant with a little boy. A few weeks pass and it’s now Melody’s birthday.
