St. Patrick’s Day (With Val and the Dallas Stars)

Val’s POV

I was walking through a field in Dallas slowly, my eyes searching the grass beneath my feet. This was the only field I knew of in Dallas that had clovers. I stopped every once and a while, and bent down, ruffling my fingers through patches of clover. I was looking for one specific clover, for I had a special plan for it.

"Ah, there we go," I shouted with triumph as I found one. I stood upright, studying the four-leaf clover and remarked, "Perfect."

"Talking to yourself?" a voice spoke up.

I quickly looked up when I heard the voice, and was pleasantly surprised to see Jamie and Tyler walking towards me, wearing large smiles. It had been Tyler to make the comment. But what were they doing out here? Did they have the same idea as me…?

I grinned and shrugged. "Don't we all?"

Jamie laughed before asking, "What are you doing out here?"

"I should ask you the same thing."

Jamie waved his hand, a nonchalant look on his face. "Forget about me, I want to know what you are doing. Right, Segs?"

“Right, Jamie!”

We started walking back to the start of the field, where the parking lot was.

"All right, all right," I sighed. “No tell though. I look for a clover for Evelyna. I plan give it to her as soon as I get back to her. Now-" I paused to look at the two men walking beside me. "What you two doing out here?"

Jamie and Tyler both shrugged in unison, "I was just walking. Walking and thinking."

"One of my favorite things," I remarked.

Jamie reached over and placed his arm across my shoulders, pulling me close in a brotherly hug. Tyler followed suit on the other side of me. I was sandwiched in the middle of them both. "Let's go back to your place so you can woo your girlfriend."

"Sounds like a plan," I said, twirling the clover's stem gently between my fingers.

So we all went back to my house. Evelyna was out. She had to set up her stuff at the American Airlines Center for the evening. Her internship and potential job had begun the previous week, so she was shadowing people and learning the equipment. I was happy for her and she was enjoying herself. As a joke, during one of our practices, she’d placed the “Kiss Cam” on Tyler and Jamie.

Jamie, being much looser, followed through with it and played along, tackling Tyler in a massive bear hug and planting a big kiss on his cheek. Tyler wasn’t too happy, but he soon lightened up and laughed about it. In fact, he got Jamie back, aiming to kiss him on the cheek and catch him unaware, but it backfired when Jamie turned to him and their lips met.

Evelyna and I couldn’t stop laughing and Jamie and Tyler kept their distances through the practice. But it was a great moment and boy did Antoine Roussel chirp them both to death in the locker room post-practice.

Once inside the house, we parted ways, and I made my way to the library to wait for her arrival. Evelyna liked to sit on the window seat inside the large library, resting among the sunrays and soaking in the sun.

Coming upon the library door, I pushed it open slowly, trying my hardest to be quiet. I smiled when I heard Evelyna's voice called out, "Val, is that you?" I guessed she’d gotten back earlier than expected.

I made my way around one of the shelves sitting in the middle of the room. When I saw Evelyna looking up from her book, I placed my hands behind my back, hiding the clover. "I try be quiet…but it no work."

Evelyna grinned. "What are you hiding behind your back?"

Her question broke me out of my trance, for I had been staring into her beautiful blue eyes, lost deep in thought. "Oh, I uh, I have gift for you."

Evelyna closed her book and let it rest on her lap. Her fingers interlocked above it. I moved swiftly forward and sat down next to her, pulling my hands forward as I did so.

Grabbing her hands, I cradled them in my own, the clover lying against my girlfriend's palms.

"It's not much…" I began. "I just thought it would be nice, seeing as it's St. Patrick's Day."

"Oh I, it's lovely," Evelyna said as she moved a finger to brush against one of the tiny leaves.

"Do you like it?" I looked up at Evelyna, hope written on my face.

Evelyna smiled gently, and leaned forward to plant a kiss on the corner of my mouth. The kiss was simple, but incredibly sweet and it sent a warm feeling to wash over me like a wave. After the kiss was over, Evelyna pulled away but only a few inches, and I could feel her breath on my face.

"I take that as a yes?" I said impishly.

Evelyna giggled. "Yes, very much. I've never received a sweeter gift."

I reached up with one hand and brushed a lock of red hair out of Evelyna's face, tucking it carefully behind her ear. She smiled at me, and I smiled back before leaning in to kiss her. Our second kiss was longer, slower, but no where near as wonderful as the first had been.

"I love you Val, you know that," Evelyna whispered, her voice so quiet I almost didn't hear her.

But I did hear her, and her words resulted in a soft smile breaking out on my face. As well as a blush. "I love you too," I whispered back, moving a hand up to gently brush it against her cheek.

I jumped a tiny bit when I heard Tyler's voice say, "Having fun you two?"

I turned and looked at Tyler, who was standing in the doorway with Jamie. Both of them had big grins on their faces. "I didn't hear you come in. I thought you were waiting out in room?"

Tyler just smiled and didn't respond.

"Happy St. Patrick's Day Tyler," Evelyna sweetly said as she stood up, the clover I had given her still in her hand. I stood up too and watched as Tyler moved forward and hugged Evelyna. “Did you give Jamie a clover too…or maybe another kiss?”

"Happy St. Patrick's Day to you two too. And also, no I didn’t, I have a girlfriend and that was an accident. It’s Jamie’s fault anyway, dumbass moved on purpose," the young twenty-three year old said as he then turned to me and gave me a reassuring wink.

Tyler turned swiftly and walked out of the library with Jamie, leaving Evelyna and I alone.

Once he was gone, Evelyna let go of my hand and grabbed her book from the window seat. Opening the front cover, she placed the clover inside before closing the book.

"That'll keep it safe," she said, before looking towards me.

She set the book back down on the window seat, and I asked, "You sure nobody will move it?"

"Not tonight, they'll all be too busy. Besides its Game Day baby, which means you three need to get to the rink."

"And so do you. Speaking of which..." I said, as I offered my arm to her. "Shall we join the “party”? Go together, you know."

“I’d like that.” Evelyna smiled and took my arm. She looked at me, her smile reaching her eyes. The look on her face was that of love, adoration, and happiness. Her expression showed exactly what I felt.

I pulled her close, leaned down and kissed her softly. "I love you," I whispered, before we left the library arm-in-arm, and joined the two older hockey players back out in the front room.

We all grabbed our things and set back out in the cars, heading to get dinner and then to the AAC for the St. Patrick’s Day game.

And I was pretty sure we’d win the game. My confidence and eagerness was through the roof. That night, I scored a hat trick and so did Tyler and Jamie had a bunch of assists. The Dallas Stars crushed the Vancouver Canucks!

I never knew St. Patrick's Day could be so fun.

Notes

Yay!!!! *giggles like a little girl* Isn't Val just the sweetest???? Love ya Valeri and I totally think you'd do this!! XP
Okay, so this is gonna be like more of a romance thing now. And I'm going to get a sequel going with it next season, but that one WILL follow what happens with Val, this one got a little unrealistic, because of the plan I had for it. Val wasn't supposed to be out that long and yeah, but I promise, the "drama" in this is going to be actual drama (like the start of this with Brock Lee) and look out for the sequel! :)

Next up: Dallas vs Chicago and that means...Kazer!!!!

The return of this story is Friday. In two days from now. Also, please just bare with the "aloof" or "fake" events at the moment with this. For a few chapters there will be events that won't happen. Unfortunately, I do know that my sweet innocent baby Russian is injured and therefore not able to get his hat trick that I wanted him to have. BUT, maybe next year...however for this, he is still playing and does get the hatty so :D
