No Place I'd Rather Be...

A Hat Trick of Murders

Over the next few days, reports came in with more kidnappings and killings. It was like the killers were mocking the police and detectives with their efforts. Carlton Lassiter and his crew were working non-stop to solve the case and it was growing incredibly exhausting. Shawn Spencer was kept under tight surveillance, given that he fit the profile and that a man had been killed who looked exactly like him. He didn’t like it, but it was what had to be done. That meant he was sticking by Lassiter’s side.

Shawn was tossing around a ball, acting bored out of his mind, as the head detective groaned and rolled his eyes. He hated baby-sitting. Then it suddenly dawned on him, he could have O’Hara do it. She would be fine with watching him.

And so he handed the psychic over to his partner-in-crime. And he finally got more thinking room. That’s when all the troubling reports filtered in.

In hockey terms, it was a hat trick of murders.

The first report was about two twin teenage boys named August Kane and Hayden Kane. They were both in their young 20’s and a part of a minor hockey league team based in Chicago.

The news had reached Jonathan Toews, who had rushed to the station and demanded answers for Patrick Kane and his whereabouts. But Lassiter could not give him an answer. The Chicago Blackhawk Captain was heartbroken.

What were the killers doing? They were brave to kidnap two hockey player twins and kill them. According to the reports and the crime scene footage, both men had been killed similarly to the second victim. They’d been tied up with ropes and tape and had been gagged and beaten. The bruises and red marks showed that evidence.

And once again all of the extraneous materials had been removed leaving no fingerprints. “The Hockey Slasher,” as the duo called themselves in another disturbing tape that was sent to them. To the killers it was a game and they were winning and having all the fun.

It made Jonathan sick to his stomach. He had no idea where his best friend was, but it wasn’t a good sign. The Blackhawk Captain tried to ask the psychic, thinking of it as a last resort, but he said something about a block or “no signal.”

Then another man vanished soon after the discovery of the twins. It wasn’t known whether he was a victim of the Slasher (or Slashers), because he had no markings and just a single gunshot wound. He was far out of the killing style of the two Chicago murders. But he was blond and had blue eyes. His name was Jayson Hendrix.

Jonathan Toews continued to pester the police and detectives, demanding some news on Patrick Kane, which didn’t help the situation out at all. The man still hadn’t shown and Jonathan was absolutely losing it.

And at once point, Lassiter got fed up, yelled at the hockey Captain and then had him go to Juliet O’Hara. Juliet took care of him and comforted him as best as she could. Shawn and Gus, starstruck helped out to a certain point as well.

That’s when things got even worse...

So this is the real Keith Ballard, in case anyone was interested:

Kinda evil, isn't he? I swear, I had no idea about him before creating the killer character. Then I just hear the name "Keith Ballard" during a Lightning game and....woo-la! Imagine the laughter I had...man. That's like me guessing my roommates real middle name. ;)
He also reminds me a little bit of Bur (Adam Burish)...but BUR IS BETTER!! :D

I believe I have figured out and fixed the timeline issue of the flux in time with this. If it still doesn't read right or the time seems awkward or confusing, please let me know. :)

Okay, so around the Kazer Dinner Scene and Kinny's Torture, there is supposed to be a flux in time. Kinny's torture scene happens a day AHEAD of the Kazer Dinner. So when the Stalking Kaner chapter happens, it should be thought of as two days behind Kinny's torture. It will make sense - hopefully - coming up soon here. (I'm not sure how to stick this into the story yet, but just wanted to let all you readers know that it should be a two day difference between the two separate events: Kazer and Kinny.)

I have broken this story up into three parts, just so everyone is clear and understanding of what I am doing here. :D ~ EvelynaKitty
