Caroline was sitting in the front seat flipping through music on her phone. Dougie paired it with the blu tooth for her while he was waiting to pull out in traffic. Caroline wasn't drunk but she was by no means sober.


"Wait you all had team lunch." said Caroline "You need to be there."


"Nah" said McQuaid "The boys were entertained with Kayleigh being drunk at noon. Plus Brad was looking a little wild trying to figure out what to do. The staff said lunch on our own. So we can retrieve wayward sloshed girlfriends." He smiled over at Dani Grace.


"We are so not sloshed" fussed Caroline "Maybe comfortably numb and very happy." It was Dougie's turn to laugh and smile. "What are you laughing at Hamilton?"


"Not a thing sweetheart" he replied smirking at her. Dougie pulled into the garage. McQuaid and Dani Grace were making their way towards the elevator. Caroline was sitting in the passenger seat fussing with her phone. "You planning on getting out."


"I was giving Quaider time to mack on Dani Grace." she answered "Told you I was an awesome wing chick."

Dougie came around and opened her door "How about we go in so I can mack on you?" He held his hand out for Caroline. She shouldered her large bag and let him pull her free from the car. Caroline leaned into him. "You want me to carry you?" he asked. She shook her head. Dougie stopped and motioned for her to climb on his back. Caroline laughed and let him carry her to the elevator.


"Are we really that cliche couple that does the piggy back thing" she asked Dougie.


"Totally" he answered "I think you missed all these random coupley things. So I intend to make them all happen."


"That's probably a good idea" said Caroline kissing his cheek.


"And I probably won't drop you" said Dougie jostling her.


"Whoa" she cried squeezing her legs and arms around his body "A little tipsy here bad balance Hamilton." Dougie made a strangled sound "Great and I just choked the guy I love. Are you ok." He laughed and nodded. She kissed the top of his head as he carried her into the apartment. "See not a Quaider in sight."


Dougie deposited her on the couch. She grabbed him by the hand and pulled him on the couch with her. She knew she couldn't pull him onto the couch if he didn't want to be there. Dougie smiled at her. He seemed to be always smiling at her. "Why are you always smiling at me?" she asked smacking at him.


"Because you make me smile. You make me laugh. I love being around you. Whether it's picking you up from brunch, coming home to you after practice, or home after a long road trip I just want to be with you. Somewhere it's become Caroline first and hockey second." he answered.


Caroline crawled into his lap and laid her head on his shoulder. She was playing with the ends of his hair. It took him a minute to realize she was way too quiet. "I don't understand why you picked me." she said "I was awful to you. Then the entire Segs thing."


"Segs is in the past. You weren't awful to me. You just weren't used to someone trying to be good to you." he replied "I don't care about any of that." He heard her snuffle. "No no no. Where is my happy tipsy girl?"


"You are probably the best thing that happened to me Doug." she said as he dried the tears "I'm sorry. I have just enough alcohol that I am emotional." Dougie adjusted her in his lap so her head was laying against his chest. "See you always know what to do. And I am always a damn mess."


"Yeah but you are my damn mess" he laughed kissing her temple.


"Are you sure you want me to meet your family?" she asked looking up at him.


"You are not getting out of this" he said "Not even with the wobbly lip and tears. My mom has asked 4 times if you are still going to be here. You can disappoint Mama Hamilton."


The door to the apartment flew open. Caroline jumped. She settled back in when she realized it was just Reilly and Jami. "Damn Hamilton when I left they were are smiling and giggling. What the hell did you do?" asked Reilly. Jami smacked him in the chest. Then ventured over to the couch. She sat down beside Caroline and Dougie.


"You okay?" asked Jami "Aww why are you crying?"


"Because he is stupidly perfect." snuffed Caroline. Jami petted her hair.


"And on that note I think it's time for our nap" said Dougie standing with Caroline in his arms. They headed towards Dougie's room.


"Hey Reilly Boy" called Caroline "I wouldn't use that toothbrush."


Reilly just started laughing. "What did you do Caroline?" he asked. She started manically laughing.


"Wouldn't you like to know?" she yelled as Dougie shut the bedroom door. She heard Reilly laughing. "I wouldn't trade him for Baby K. But don't tell him. Besides KK has dibs on Baby K."


"Secret is a safe with me" answered Dougie.


"Maybe we can adopt a rookie later. Like Tiffany and Krejci." said Caroline very seriously.


"If that's what you eventually want we can adopt a rookie." laughed Dougie.


"But not Spoons" said Caroline "He is going to flip Tegan is hot. Did you see her? She looks like Snow White but a bad ass Snow White." Dougie sat her on the bed. He tossed her shoes in the corner. He pulled her sweater off and laid it over the chair. Caroline then tossed her bra at him. "Don't need that." she said as she climbed into the bed that she had made before brunch. Dougie laid it on the chair and stripped out of his shirt. Caroline was watching his every move. She was smiling at him.

"Now you are smiling at me Sweetheart." he said stretching out beside her.


"Because you are so very stuck with me Dougie." Caroline moved so that she was laying on his chest "All jokes aside. I really do love you."


"I know" he said kissing her forehead.


"Really Hamilton. Quoting Star Wars."


"If I am will you rock that metal bikini to the Halloween party?" he teased.


"Probably" she replied dissolving into a fit of giggles.


"I'll take that over tears any day."


Caroline crawled up and kissed his lips "They are happy tears with you." She kissed him again "Nap time Hamilton."


"What happened to me getting to mack on my girl." he asked


"You made me cry"


Dougie smiled at her. He then captured her mouth and kissed her breathless. "Go to sleep Sweetheart." Caroline snuggled back down to her place on his chest. Dougie was sifting his fingers through her hair.

"You're still bossy" said Caroline as her eyes fluttered shut. Dougie started to laugh. "Stop wiggling pillows don't wiggle."


"Yours does" he replied "Nap. I have a game in a few hours."

"Bossy" said Caroline as she snuggled into his side. Dougie watched her for a few minutes before setting his alarm. He pulled the blankets up over them. He found himself smiling at her again. She made him stupid happy. He laid there contemplating the fact that she was planning on being with him for long enough to adopt a rookie. First conquer the WAGS, second meet the parents, and third keep her for the rest of their lives. Easy enough right.
