Hidden Ship
Rylee's mind would not be silenced, anticipation that caused rushes of adrenaline, squashing any hopes of sleep. She couldn't wait to see those big, brown eyes and the childish smile that embodied Jamie.
The second her alarm went off at seven a.m. Rylee checks her phone, just in case Tyler had already messaged her. Fat chance, she tells herself but she can't help it. Rylee busies herself by taking a shower, making breakfast, doing anything to waste time. Finally, at eight-thirty, she gives in and texts Tyler: ANY NEWS? Rylee decides to paint her nails, maybe she'll be able to focus in on one task.
Tyler's phone buzzes and he looks down at the message. He raises his eyes across the breakfast table at Jamie and grins. "Speaking of the devil." MEET US AT THE STARBUCKS IN FRISCO AT 9:30? NEXT TO THE DR. P. Jamie smiles and says, "I can't wait to see that crazy girl."
An hour and a half later, Rylee slicks on chap stick before exiting her Ford Mustang. She walks towards the door, and sees Jamie standing outside. "Benn!" Rylee yells as she runs to him. "Hey, Rylee," Jamie can't hide the smile on his face as he wraps her up in his arms.
Rylee wants to kiss him so bad, but she refrains from doing so. "Wanna go inside?" She asks. "Actually, I have something else planned. Segs and I kind of set this up." Rylee laughs softly, "I'm impressed." "I wouldn't say that until we get there." Jamie blushes lightly and takes her hand.
I hope she doesn't feel my sweat, Jamie prays. He leads her to black truck that belongs to Tyler. Seguin taps on the glass from the backseat, so Jamie takes the driver's side and Rylee rides shotgun.
"So where are we going?"
"Just wait." Jamie grins and turns on the radio.
Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody" comes on. "Oh, I love this song!" Jamie and Rylee say at the same time. "Cuuuute," Tyler gags. Rylee turns and play punches him. He fakes injury and slouches in the seat.
They pull into a spot at the Dallas Aquarium. "What are we doing here?" Rylee tilts her head, looking at the building. "Have you ever been?" Jamie looks nervously at her. "No, I've always wanted to, though."
"Good, because I have the place booked for the rest of the day." Jamie beams.
"What? No way! How did you manage that?" Rylee shrieks.
"I pulled a few strings."
"Wow, who knew Jamie Benn could be so smooth." Rylee nudges him.
They spent the day wandering the Aquarium, only stopping to eat. Once, Tyler happened to "wander off". Jamie had lightly pressed her up against the glass to a fish tank and tenderly kissed her. "Do friends kiss in Canada?" Rylee had breathed. "All the time," Jamie smirked before kissing her again.
They left the Aquarium at six, had dinner, then the boys took Rylee back to her car. They exchange phone numbers and Jamie says, "See you soon?"
Rylee reached up on her tip toes and pecks his cheek, "As soon as possible."
