Just Say Yes

It was the morning after Christmas and Kennedy was in the kitchen making breakfast for her and Patrick. Patrick was leaving to head to Colorado to play against the Avalanche on Sharpie’s birthday. Addison wanted to do something for his birthday when they get back from their trip. But with everything going on, the winter classic coming up and the twins. Abby told her that she will take care of everything. During the christmas party that Addison and Jon were hosting and Jon begged Kennedy to make sure if anything happen to Addison while he was gone.
"Jon remember I’m the god mother, I will be watching Addison like a hawk."
“Thanks Kennedy.”

Then her phone was ringing to break out of her memories from last night. It was Matt calling her.
“Hey Matt."
“So I heard that you can’t come for the game on the 27?"
“Yep you heard that correct. How did you know that?"
“I talked to Addison just a couple of minutes ago because I miss her and see how she’s doing. Beside she’s due any time soon."
“Yea about a couple of more weeks. Jon wants me to keep an eye out for you and then there’s my dad."
“What’s going on with your dad?"
“Did Addison told you?"
“Nope.” Kennedy told him the whole story.
“Wow Kennedy I’m sorry of what’s going on with your dad. I hope that he gets better soon.” She could hear in his voice that he’s upset for Kennedy.
“I hope so, I wish I could see you. I miss you a lot Matt."
“I miss you to. But there are going to be more changes for me to see you. It’s a good thing that the Blackhawks and the Avalanche are in the same division."
“Yep that is true. So I have to go were meeting Addison to have an early birthday morning breakfast for Sharpie."
“Ok, talk to you later. Love you."
“Love you bye.” When Kennedy got off the phone Patrick walked into the kitchen.
“Are you ready to leave soon?” He wrapped his arms around her waist and kiss her cheek.
“Yeah just give me 10 more minutes I just got off the phone."
“Who was that on the phone?"
“It was Matt, he wanted to tell me that he’s going to miss me with my dad being in the hospital and Addison soon having her twins.”
"Oh. Does he call you often?"
“No not really since the season has started but he did sent me a birthday text"
“That was nice of him.” Patrick was a little mad that Matt would text her even thou he knows that Kennedy with him now and instead with him. When they were driving over to Addison and Jon’s place. All Kennedy couldn’t stop talking about is that they should move closer to them when the twins are born.
“No. I’m not moving closer to Jon."
“Why?"
“Well I work with him everyday and living closer to him will be even worst."
“Oh come on! We are there all the time and what if we wanted to started a family?”
“Well let’s get marry then we can look at a house.” Patrick looked over and see that Kennedy had her arms cross. Kennedy does want to get married but trying to start everything fresh like her job and being with Patrick. However she knew that Patrick wants to get married after he’s done playing hockey and that’s going to be forever when he’s going to do that. There are amazing places close to where Addison and Jon live. Kennedy can be closer to Addison when she needs help with the twins.

Walking inside Addison and Jon’s place Patrick could smell the coffee and bacon. Getting closer to the kitchen they were all sitting around the kitchen table.
“Aunty Kennedy!” Madelyn jumped out of her seat and ran to Kennedy to give her a big hug.
“How are you this morning?” She just nods her head.
“Do you know who’s birthday it is today?” Kennedy looked at Sharpie. Then she pointed at him.
“It’s daddy’s birthday !"
“You are right.” She set her down and she looked at Patrick. Before Patrick could say anything to Madelyn she just runs over back to the table. Sadie was on top of Sharpie’s lap.
“Well now we know who is her favorite person in the room now.” It used to be Patrick but not it’s all about Kennedy to her. Everyone laughed at what just happen. As they sat around eating breakfast just talking about normal things.
“Does your mom know what’s going on Addison?” Sharpie ask.
“No, I haven’t talk to her since I change my last name."
“She’s going to be a grandmother soon to twins, I think you need to talk to her. Get pass on this because that’s what family do. They forgive each other for what stupid thing they did.” Abby spoke up. Addison set her hands on her stomach and thinks about what Abby just said. Sharpie and her dad know about Addison having twins because he was invited to the wedding.

The night of the game Kennedy was over at Addison’s to watch the game. It was a fun game for them to watch because it was Sharpie’s birthday and just a good time for Kennedy and Addison just to have their time together.
“So you didn’t really talk about what you did over the Christmas break?"
“Well Jon’s parents came to us since I can’t fly anywhere and just had a small get together with Sharpie’s family. Jon gave me some nice things but they were for the twins. What about Patrick?"
“We went to Buffalo with his family on Christmas day because I wanted to be with dad on christmas eve. He’s doing a little better now but they have no clues when his last surgery is going to be on. Are you exited about the winter classic?"
“Yes I am and I hope the after party will be better than what happen last time."
“Well that last time Dylan got involved and you know the rest of that story."
“Yea don’t remind me of that and I forgot about Dylan anyway. Did he get you anything nice for Christmas?"
“I told him not to get me a ton of stuff. I didn’t want to be that girlfriend that had a list for him to check off. He did get me a winter classic Kane jersey."
“No surprise about that since I bet that he gave all of his sisters the same.” Kennedy nodded her head and they both laugh at what Patrick did.
“Have you guys talked about your future being back together?"
“No not really, but I can see it in Patrick’s eyes that he wants to see me walk down the aislesoonerrather than later."
“Do you hope that he’ll ask you and do you want to marry Patrick?"
“I hope he’ll ask and time will tell when he’s on one knee."
“If you were Patrick right now what would you do to ask you?"
“I’m not tell you that."
“Come on. Please Kennedy."
“Nope because you are going to tell Patrick of how cheesy I am."
“We all have to be a little cheesy. How about you write to down and I will throw it away when I am done reading it.” Kennedy didn’t have that much of a choose. When Kennedy finishing writing it down. Both of their heads turn when they see Patrick getting the puck in the empty net with Matt on his ass. Kennedy’s mouth dropped when she see what Matt did. Is Matt really mad at Patrick for what he did? They both were yelling at each other. Kennedy set the paper down next to Addison and headed out to a different room. She didn’t want Patrick and Matt to fight. They game is over and Matt shouldn't have speared him. Kennedy had her phone in her hand. She knew that both won’t answer their phones because they had to deal with the media. But she’ll leave a voice mail.
“Hey Matt, call me when you get this. I saw what you did to Patrick. Are you ok with everything?"
“Pat, call me when you get this. I’ll be up anyway so don’t worry if you wake me up. I love you.” When Kennedy walked back into the living room. Addison was reading what Kennedy put on the note.
“Kennedy this isn’t cheesy at all. I just wish that Jon did this instead of asking me at mini golf.”
“Remember to throw that away."
“I will don’t worry beside I have to go to the bathroom. One of the twins thinks my bladder is like a water bed to them."


When Kennedy got home Patrick called her. She was surprise that Matt didn’t call her yet.
“Patrick how are you?"
“I’m doing ok. How’s Addison doing?"
“Happy because you guys won. Pat I saw what happen between you and Matt. What happen?"
“Oh he’s just mad that his team was losing and that I have you. When I said your name his face turn into sadness and alone. Then he went all crazy and speared me in the balls. That wasn’t un call."
“I know but he has to get over it soon since you guys are going to play again soon."
“True. Tell Sharpie Happy Birthday for me even tho I send him a text already this morning. So I’ll see you in the morning then. I love you."
" Love you."


In the morning Kennedy still hasn’t heard a word from Matt from what happen. Should Kennedy be worried about that? Patrick was dead asleep when Kennedy left to go see her dad before she headed in for work. They haven’t seen each other since christmas eve.
“So I watch the game last night. What’s going on between Patrick and the guy that wore number 9 for Colorado ?"
“It’s a long story."
“Well you know me with stories. I like them long it make its more fun.” Kennedy didn’t know where to starts.
“It all happen when Espn Magazine needed me to go to Colorado.” As she was telling the story till the baby shower.
“I think Matt is mad at Patrick for winning me back. Even thou he said that he was happy for me to go back to Chicago."
“Why did you call Matt?"
“Because I want to hear his side of the story."
“Have you talked to Patrick about this?"
“Yea on the phone last night when he and the team were coming back from Colorado. Should I ask him again in person?"
“I think so.”Kennedy’s phone was ringing. It was Patrick calling her.
“I woke up in a empty house. Where are you?"
“Seeing Dad right now but I’ll be home soon after work. I want to talk about what happen last night."
“I though we talked about it last night."
“I know but I want to see you.” Patrick didn’t say anything else.
“That was Patrick and I should get going to work. If you hear anything about when your next surgery -"
“You’ll be the first person I will tell to. I know and I promise you that."
“Bye Dad.” She gave him a hug and headed to work. When she was at work there were some people did ask her about what happen between Patrick and Matt. All she said that it’s between them and what they do on the ice. People back away from what she said. Kennedy was very happy to leave the office and see Patrick. She couldn’t stop thinking of the play when everyone was asking her the same question over and over. Walking into the kitchen Patrick was drinking his coffee. He sets down his coffee and he was leaning on the kitchen counter. Kennedy laid on top of him with his arms wrapper around her.
“Do we have to talk about what happen last night?"
“No, dad wanted to talk to you again because he thinks that we should have done it when you came home from Colorado. Even thou weren’t that gone for a long time. I don’t like haven’t a big bed all to myself. I tried to get a hold of Matt but he won’t answer his phone."
“Why are you calling him?” Patrick getting upset by this.
“Well I just wanted to see why ?” Patrick didn’t look at Kennedy. He was staring out of space trying to make Kennedy to go a different topic.
“Patrick what did he really say after of what he just did?"
“Pat?” She didn’t get an answer because Patrick's phone was ringing and it was his dad. Kennedy upset by this that she just went into the bathroom and run a bath. She locked the bathroom door so she won’t let Patrick in after he was done talking on the phone. Right before she went into the bathtub her phone was ringing and it was Matt that’s calling her.
“Matt."
“Hey sorry I didn’t call early we just got to St.Louis and I needed to sleep."
“What happen last night and I wanted to know why you did that to Patrick. “ Matt didn’t say anything for a couple of seconds.
“Matt. I’m done with people not telling me anything. What did you two say to each other!”
“What I said to him was that you shouldn’t be with him. Patrick just laughed at me and told me to fuck off. That was it Kennedy. I wouldn’t lie to you at all because you‘re an amazing person."
“Thanks Matt. I’m glad that you told me."
“Did Patrick told you about what happen then?"
“He told me that you weren’t happy of the game and that I’m back here in Chicago."

When Kennedy ended the call with Matt. She didn’t know what to do. There is always three sides to the story. Patrick’s side, Matt’s side and the truth. At this moment she should just let it go and get into the bathtub before it get’s cold. Laying in the bathtub all relax from everything till Patrick knock on the door.
“Kennedy can I come in?"
