Just Say Yes

It has been three weeks since Kennedy move to Denver. There times when Kennedy would be lying in bed thinking of Patrick. Crying that she misses him or that he still hasn’t called her back. Matt helped her not stay in her head all day thinking about Patrick. Taking her all of the great spots of Denver. Matt was telling the truth, there were a lot of fun stuff that they can do in Denver. She has talked to Addison since coming back from her honeymoon.
“When you come back to Chicago you need to see our new place. Jon found the perfect place for the family. Are you going to tell me where you are?”
“If I tell you would you not tell Patrick?”
“My lips are sealed.”
“Denver, with Matt.”
“Duchene!” Then Kennedy could hear Jon in the background that he won the bet.
“When are you coming back to Chicago?” Jon yelled in the background.
“I don’t know when beside I have an interview with Denver Post in a couple of hours.”
“Wish I could see you when we visited Denver in November, but Jon got Stan to make me stay grounded for the rest of the season. I’m driving to Washington DC for the winter classic.”
“That sucks. By the way, how’s Pat?” Addison took in a deep breath and let out a huge sigh.
“He’s doing ok, his mom is at his place a lot since you left. He’s back here in Chicago right now. Well I have to let you go because we have a lunch date with the Bickell’s.”
When Kennedy got off the phone, she was sitting on the couch looking at the great view that Matt had in his condo. She got up, put her hair into a ponytail and getting ready for her interview with the Denver Post. While she was getting ready for her interview she was rethinking of what happen that morning. Kennedy woke up to the sun hitting her eyes and hearing the sound of Matt’s breath. Matt has been amazing with her since coming to Denver. He took her places that doesn’t remind her of hockey. There was something in Matt that she couldn’t find in Patrick. She still hasn’t found it yet. Matt knows what’s going on between Kennedy and Patrick. He’s just trying to help Kennedy to get over Patrick. Kennedy was day dreaming with Matt woke up and kiss her check.
“Good morning, big day for you.” Matt wrapped his arm around her side.
“Yep time fly doesn’t it.” He got up to take a shower. While Matt was doing that she was feeding Matt’s dog Paisley. When she turns around Matt grabbed her and couldn’t let go. He was still wet up top and he already has a workout pants on.
“Matt!” She laughed. When he let go she couldn’t stop looking at his chest.
“I wish that you don’t have to go to this interview.”
“What, do you want to lock me up like a diamond?”
“Maybe.” Matt kiss her forehead and went back to finish getting ready to go workout with his teammates. When she looked at the time she better get ready now or she will be late.

About a couple of hours later, Kennedy walked into Matt’s condo and all of the Avalanche players gave her a surprise party for getting the job.
“So I guess that you found out the that I got the job then.” Everyone gave her a hug. Matt was the last person to reach her. He places his lips on to hers. This was the first time since she came to Denver. She wrapped her arms around Matt’s neck and kiss back. Everyone around was happy for them.
“So do you know where you are due?” Amanda Bickell asks.
“The doctor told us that they are due in the second week of January.”
“Names?”
“We have but it would be best to wait to name them when we see them.”
“Any word where Kennedy is at?” Bryan asks.
“I talked to her this morning and she didn’t want me to tell anyone where’s she at. Kennedy is living in Denver right now with Matt Duchene. She said that she’s happy right now and doesn’t have a timetable of when she’s coming back to Chicago. However she did ask how Patrick was doing.” Everyone at the table knows what’s going on with Patrick and Kennedy.
“I just wished that Patrick would just call her back. He’s just being a jerk right now with this whole situation.”
“If Patrick knew where she is right now, I don’t know how Patrick will deal with it. I mean Patrick though Kennedy was cheating on him with Duchene. Now that she’s living with Matt. Matt is only trying to help Kennedy with the break up. I can’t see them really together.” Amanda spoken. After lunch Jon was dropping Addison off at home so she could get a nap. Jon is going to see how Patrick is doing. They haven’t seen each other over a couple of weeks.
“Now please Jon don’t tell Patrick where Kennedy is at. I promise her that I wasn’t going to tell him.”
“I won’t.” Addison kisses Jon on the cheek.
When Jon walked into Pat’s place it was a mess, it look like Patrick’s mom hasn’t been here all week.
“Pat?” He could hear that the TV was on. When he walked into the dark living room. Patrick had a hoodie on, playing Call of Duty. Patrick didn’t hear Jon at first. When he turns around he nodded his head and went back into the video game. Jon moved some of his clothes that were covering the couch. Jon wanted to tell him where Kennedy is at so he could snap out of this funk that he’s in right now. But he promise that he wouldn’t tell.
“How was lunch with the Bickell’s?”
“Fine, where’s you mom?”
“She’s coming back on Friday but I make this mess about an hour ago. What did you guys talked about?”
“Baby stuff, life and um Kennedy.” Patrick pause his game. He didn’t turn around he just look at the game, eyes watering just a little.
“Oh.”
“Well there was not much to talk about Kennedy because Addison talked to her today and she still won’t tell her.”
“I know where’s she at.” Jon was confused about what Patrick was saying.
“I know why you didn’t want your mom to come this week. So where do you think she’s at?”
“Denver.”
“How would you know?”
“I check out Duchene’s twitter and he’s has a couple of pictures on Kennedy on there. Even in a fucking swimsuit! She even kissed him on the fucking lips today when she got to job at Denver Post. There’s nothing I can do about it.”” He slams the control on the ground.
“Yes you can, get on a plane and find out where Duchene is living.”
“What if she doesn’t want to come back?” Jon knew that answer because there’s no timetable for Kennedy planning on coming back to Chicago.
“I fucking miss Kennedy but I know that she hates my guts because of what I did at the wedding and the day before she left for Denver.”
“The day before she left for Denver?” Patrick told him the story.
“I already broke Kennedy’s heart I don’t want to ruin of what we still have left.”
