Surprise!
Patrick and Jon are walking back to the ice to get in a little more practice before the rest of the boys get here, when Jon's phone rang again. Again, without looking at the screen while answering he picked up "Hello?" he questioned, unsure of who this might be, and what they would want. Patrick sent a signal letting Jon know he would be resting in the locker room for a bit to give him some privacy on the phone. Jon nodded, and they were off their seperate ways. "Hey babe, you never do check your screen before you pick up, do you?" Jade giggled through the phone.
A huge smile appeared on Jon's face, "Haha well you know me, I don't really check. So what's up?" he asked. "Oh nothing much, just wondering but where are you right now?" she answered. "I'm at the united center. I'm gonna get a little more ice time with Kaner before the rest of the guys come. Why" he replied, a little curious to wonder why his girlfriend, being in Canada at the moment would want to know where he is. "Well.... turn around" and once she said it, she wrapped her arms around him and pulled him close for a kiss. Dropping the phone onto the bench, Jon hugged her tight, and sealed the kiss.
"Woaaah where did you come from?! Thought you weren't gonna be back until Friday!" He practically screamed. "Well... I wanted to surprise you for our 3 month anniversary!" She replied, holding his hands tightly, with the biggest smile on her face. Wait, is she saying she made all this up just to surprise him?! "So you pretended to go to Canada just to surprise me?" he asked, a bit ticked that in this plan of hers, he haven't been able to talk to her for 2 days. "Well no. I did go to Canada, but I just came back earlier. I went there first to check on my family, but also to get you your present" she answered, and began to blush, so she just stared at his shoes.
"Hey, you didn't have to get me anything. Just being here is good enough." Jon said, lifting her chin so that she was looking him in the eyes, as she blushed again. Only this time, before she could look away, she found her lips on Jon's. And they were like that way for another minute or so, just enjoying each other. Until finally, Jade broke away from his embrace, and took his hand and led him outside. "We're almost there" she teased. "Really Jade, you didn't have to get me anything!" Jon said, still smiling and so happy Jade was back. Then finally they stopped.
They were standing infront of a brand new sports car. Well it looked pretty new. "Here we are!" She smiled, as she tossed Jon the keys. Jon had his eyes wide open, he was in total shock. His girlfriend really bought him a car, and just the one he wanted! "It's not new, but I did get it for a good price, in good condition, and got it cleaned and everything so it looked as new as possible." she continued. Still, Jon was in total awe. "I got it in Canada, and paid them extra to deliver it here, instead of me driving it back. Sure it was a little more expensive, but it was worth it. I just knew you would love it, plus I was looking at this a few weeks before I left, I had my dad reserve this for me so when I arrived I could pay them right away." She spoke, she tried to hide her excitment.
"This is amazing Jade... I don't know how I could ever thank you. You.. you bought me a new car, and my dream car. You must've spent a lot for this. I love it." He finally replied, as he stepped closer to Jade to give her a tight hug, and kiss.
Meanwhile, back in the locker room, Kane really had nothing to do, so he decided he'd give Emma a call. She picked up after the first ring. "Hello?" she answered, unsure of who's number this was. "Hey Emma, it's me Patrick." he replied. "Ohh! Hey, everything alright?" she asked. "Yeahh everything perfect, but I was just wondering.. there's a home game tomorrow, and I wanted to know if maybe you wanted to come? And we could move that movie on friday, to tomorrow night too." he asked. "Ohh that sounds great! I'd love to come and see you play, and the movie idea sounds great" she answered, sounding as exicted as ever. "Great, then I'll pick you up tomorrow a few hours before the game, so you can meet the boys and see us practice a bit." Patrick explained. "Sounds good to me, I'll see you tomorrow! Text me tomorrow when you're here. Byee!" and with that she hung up.
Man was he happy. He's finally got a girl, and a real decent one too. Emma was pretty, funny, and nice. She also had a job, unlike his last girlfriend Kayla. All she'd ever do was sleep over at his house, and use him for his money. It was not until the finally, you know.. had sex that Kayla decided that she was done with him, and took his money and left. Ever since then Patrick has never seen her, and he was glad. Some girlfriend she was! Soon after he found himself chuckling at his own thoughts when he say Tazer and Jade walk in.
"Hey Kaner!" Jade shouted. "Hey, what are you doing back so early?" he asked. "Oh I just had a little surprise for Jon, no biggie." she teased. "NO BIGGIE?! She got me a flippin car!!! Kaner, it's a sports car too! And from Canada!" Jon practically screamed at Kaner with excitement. "What?! Where's my car Jade??" he teased back. All 3 of them broke into laughter, until finally Jon caught his breathe. "Hey Jade, you know Kaner's got a little crush on someone?" He said winking at Patrick.
"OMG!! Who is it Patrick?! Is it one of those puck bunnies? Cause you know you deserve a whole lot better than them..." Jade questioned him. "Well thanks Jon!" Patrick replied, as his cheeks turned bright red. "Anytime buddy." Jon joked, as he shoved his friend in the shoulder. "Well.. you gonna tell me about her or not?!" Jade asked, getting a bit impatient but laughing along with Jon.
"Uhh.. well. She works at that cafe around the block, she's got long brown here, with beautiful blue eyes. And the cutest smile" Patrick finally answered, his cheeks still red. "Aww! You seem to like her a lot, I mean, from what you're already telling me, she's a lot different from all the other girls you dated." Jade said. "Yeahh" Patrick replied, giving his best smile. "So, when am I gonna meet her?!" Jade asked, excitedly. "Well she's coming to the game tomorrow, but I'm picking her up early so she could meet the rest of the boys. Then after she's coming over to my place to watch a movie." he replied. "Great! I'll meet her tomorrow at the game, I'll even be here as early as her, so we can have some bonding time" Jade said, winked at Patrick, then waved a quick goodbye to the boys as she whispered something into Jon's ear before leaving.
"Bye!" Jon called after her, and then she was gone. Moments passed as Jon and him were putting on their skates, and Jon was still smiling just as much as he was before when Jade was still here. "What's got you all happy still?" Patrick asked, to break the silence. Time for some answers. "Well Jade got me that car, and I'm thinking of how to give her my present. I guess I'm just a little too in my thoughts right now." He replied, still smiling, content as ever.
"What are you getting her?" Patrick asked, curiosity rose to him. "I'm gonna invite her over for a nice dinner, that I would've already prepared. With all her favourite foods. Then I'm gonna watch the Titanic with her, since it's her all time favourite movie. After that..." Jon said, trailing off. "Then?" he asked, trying to get his friend to continue. "Then, I'll tell her that I love her, and ask her to move in with me." Jon said, blushing a bit. "Woah there Tazer, 3 months and you feel this way about her? You must really like her. But are you sure you're ready for this?" Patrick asked, making sure his friend wouldn't make the same mistake as him. Like when he thought he "loved" Kayla.
"I'm positive." Jon replied, with a smile. "Positive about what" came a familiar voice. It was Patrick Sharp, and as he entered, the rest of the boys followed, greeted them and asked the same as Sharpie. Patrick and Jon both laughed, and explained what had happened earlier this morning, with him and Emma, and Jon and Jade.
All the boys started chuckling as soon as Patrick was done with his story. They all whistled at him, and threw towels and Oo'd and aww'd. As his face turned red. "Oooo Kaner's got a crush!" Andrew Shaw said, throwing his shirt at him. They all started laughing again. "Ehem! Boys try and control yourself! We've got practice right now, you can finish discussing about Patricks love life after." Said Coach Q, standing at the door, arms crossed. After a while the boys quiet down, and finished getting ready, and soon after Coach Q left, chuckling to himself. His only thoughts were, Kaner's got a girl now?! And headed onto the ice.
The rest of the arrived on the ice shortly, and began doing their drills.
