Goodbye Girl

1/25

Present Day

"You're getting some new guys, eh?" James said into Emily's ear piece.

She walked down the hall from her office to the lobby. She was in charge of all contracts of new players, old players, returning players, all players.

"Yeah. From Boston. Jamie's coming to meet with me so we can show them around before they sign." She explained.

"Didn't one of them play Whalers?" He asked.

"Yeah, Tyler did. With Petey!" She exclaimed. "I don't know why you're acting as if you don't know them. They're in the same league as you, asshole."

"I know the guys. I'm just making sure you know your team, Em." James laughed.

"I know my Stars, James." She stated. She pulled the door to the lobby open and spotted Jamie with three guys. "I'll call you later on. The new guys are here."

"Alright. Take care." James said before Emily clicked the button on her ear piece.

The four guys stared at Emily. She gave them a wide smile. Jamie walked over to her and began talking with her. Tyler eyed her from head to toe. The pencil skirt she had on accented her curves and the blouse she was wearing allowed him to view just enough bust. Add slightly turned on to the list of things I'm feeling right now.

Emily finished talking with Jamie and turned to the three ex Bruins. She gave them another wide smile before strutting over to them.

"Hi, I'm Emily Vellucci." She extended her hand to the first guy.

He shook it. "Ryan Button." He smiled.

She stepped to the next guy. He looked a lot older than her. She extended her hand.

"I'm Rich. Nice to meet you, Emily Vellucci." Rich grinned at her.

"Call me Emily, wise ass." She smirked at him.

"Ah, we're gonna get along well." He stated.

Emily laughed, stepping over to Tyler. Her hand went out. He gave her a small smile that quickly faded after they shook hands.

"I'm Tyler."

"Oh, I know." She said. Rich and Ryan looked at each other before looking at the two. She looked at the guys. "I didn't mean it as anything."

"Her dad coached me when I played Whalers." He explained.

"Yeah, he told me all about you. Sixty seven points your first season with him." She crossed her arms, smirking. "Not bad for a kid." She shrugged.

Tyler laughed. "This kid is probably the same age as you."

"What year were you born?" She cocked a brow.

"Ninety two."

"Ninety." She gave him a victorious grin. "Kid."

He chuckled, shaking his head. Jamie watched the two, letting out a smirk. Emily turned to him. She saw the look her was giving her. She gave him a look of confusion. He just shook his head.

"Do you wanna start showing them around?" She asked, avoiding the look on his face. Jamie nodded. "Where do you wanna start?"

"Up to you, Em." He chimed.

"Okay. I'll just go get some passes for us and we can go. Jamie, join me." She spoke, grabbing his hand and pulling him out of the lobby. She closed the door, glaring at him. "What was that smirk about?"

"You're flirting with Seguin the same way you used to flirt with James." Jamie pointed out before he crossed his arms.

"What? You think I'm flirting with some new guy the way I flirted with my boyfriend of seven years?" Emily asked. Jamie nodded. "Have you fucking lost it, Jamie?!"

"I never full had it." He retaliated.

"Oh, fuck off." She rolled her eyes. She went into the room where all the passes were kept. She grabbed three visitors passes before coming back out. "Number one, that was hardly flirting. I'm trying to make him comfortable since I can see how starry eyed he is." Jamie laughed. "No pun intended." She glared. "And number two, I didn't flirt with James. We were in a relationship, J."

"You were like children." He argued.

"Shut up." Em hissed. She turned on her heels, pulling open the door to the lobby. She gave a sweet smile to the three guys. "You'll need these." She explained, handing them the passes. "Now follow me." She chimed before walking past them.

Emily walked towards the glass doors that led to the stairs and elevators. Tyler followed, keeping a far enough distance that he could see her ass. Jamie watched him, stifling back a laugh. Ryan shoved him to stop him from staring. Rich held back a laugh along with Jamie.

She stopped at the elevators, turning to the group of guys behind her. Their eyes shot up to her face instantaneously. She rolled her eyes, knowing they were watching her ass. She shook her head before pushing the down button.

"You get a full frontal view now!" She exclaimed, turning to face them.

Tyler's face went red while Jamie burst into laughter. Emily smirked at him before she crossed her arms. The elevator dinged and she marched on.

"Hang with me, and I'll show you how to drive her up a wall." Jamie whispered to Tyler as the climbed in the elevator.

The group went down to the change room and area around it. Jamie and Emily showed the three newbies everything they needed to see. Emily explained how they were getting passes made for them right now for the change room.

A man came in, asking Emily if he could speak to her for a moment. Emily obliged, excusing herself from the mini tour. The four hockey players watched her walk to the side with the older gentlemen.

"So what's her story?" Rich spoke, breaking the silence.

"She's our age. Don't get any idea." Ryan scoffed, pointing between him and Tyler.

"I wasn't! I'm just curious." Rich defended. "You boning her?" He asked Jamie.

Jamie laughed out loud. "Oh, god, no. She moved her with her long term boyfriend. He got traded a few years back but she had this job so she stuck around." He explained.

"How long term?" Rich pried.

"Seven years." Jamie sighed. Rich let out a groan of understanding. "It was really hard for her. I saw she needed a friend and we've been pretty close since."

"Who was her boyfriend?" Tyler interrupted.

"Good Old Nealer." Jaime said. "James 'The Real Deal' Neal."

"Oh, the goof on the Penguins." Tyler rolled his eyes.

"He laid you out in the playoffs last year." Rich stated, laughing along with his comment.

"He fucking tripped me then proceeded to try and shove me down. He's a goof." Tyler growled, crossing his arms.

"Yeah, don't say that around, Em. They're still close." Jamie told Tyler. He nodded. "She's pretty intriguing, huh?"

"I'll say." Rich agreed. "Never met a girl who let you stare at her tits like that girl out there did."

"Em's pretty crazy. She's fun to party with." Jamie bragged about his friend.

"You've never partied with Boston's Finest over here, obviously." Rich nudged Tyler.

Once Emily finished her mini conference, she went back over to the guys to finish showing them around. After everything was seen, she took their visitors passes and sent them off. Jamie left with them. He said something about heading out for good with them, but Em was too caught up in the thought of clocking out to listen.

The passes were returned, Emily's office was locked, and she was off for home. The second she was in her apartment door, her heels came off and her hair was thrown up. She unzipped her skirt and picked up her shoes while walking into the kitchen. She raided the fridge and settled on a beer.

Emily climbed the stairs to the top floor of her apartment. She went to her room where she tossed her heels on the floor. She shimmied out of her skirt while she walked to her drawers. She began unbuttoning her blouse but laziness came over her. She yanked it over her head, tossing it to the floor with the rest of her clothing. The last thing she took off was her bra, setting the girls free.

Freshly changed into shorts and a baggy T-Shirt, Emily went to the kitchen to grab her open beer. She walked to the living room, dropping on the couch and flipping the TV to sports highlights. Her phone buzzed on the counter. She stood up and grabbed it. James had texted her.

J: How were the new guys?

She read the message before making her way back into the living room and sitting down. She typed back a reply and sipped her beer.

E: Fucking great. They all just watched my ass well I told them shit. Just like any other day at work.

She put her phone down. She saw news about the Pens playing so she turned it up. It was something about how great Crosby was, not arguing, and how he wasn't getting the raise he deserved so he could keep some of the guys on his team. James responded.

J: Can't say I'd do any different. So what's up?

Emily rolled her eyes with a shake of her head before texting back.

E: Just drinking some beers at home.

J: I'm guessing Jamie's around.

E: No, he ditched me for the new guys. Dick.

Jamie and Emily were roommates. It made sense to Emily since he was really her only friend. They shared the apartment James and Emily once shared, which he left behind for Emily, who changed all the deeds over to her name, adding Jamie's once he moved in.

As if he knew James had asked about him, Jamie broke through the door. Tyler followed behind him. Jamie grabbed two beers from the fridge. He handed one to Tyler. Jamie walked over to the couch and shoved Emily over. He left room for Tyler.

"Baseball's on. Give me the remote, or die." Jamie threatened.

Emily rolled her eyes, tossing him the converter. Tyler sat down beside Jamie. Emily sprawled her legs out over Jamie's lap.

Tyler didn't entirely understand why Emily was in Jamie's apartment, or why she was so comfortable with him. Jamie said he wasn't sleeping with her, right?

Emily recognized the glance Tyler have the pair before his eyes went to the TV. She laughed, catching both guys' attention. She sat up to reach for her beer.

"We're not sleeping together, just roommates." She explained.

"Right, I forgot to mention that." Jamie chuckled. "Sorry you have to put up with her outside of work."

"Guess I'll be avoiding your house." Tyler said.

"Hey, fuck you, Kid. Don't act like you weren't eyeing me up all day." Emily pointed the neck of her beer at him before drinking from it.

"Yeah, I liked looking at you in that shirt and blouse, not this get up." He gestured to her with a grin plastered on his face.

"I look better in this than more than half the girls you've slept with!" She cried.

"I'll give it to you. But I've slept with a lot of gross chicks." He shrugged.

Emily glared at him while smiling. "Watch yourself." She warned.

Tyler laughed, shaking his head. He took a sip from his beer. Emily's eyes went back to the TV. Her phone let out the tone it did when she was being FaceTimed. She grabbed it and saw it was James. She declined it.

Em switched her phone to silent and locked it then placed it face down on the table. She finished her beer and shot up and to the kitchen where she could grab another.

Tyler watched her walk out of the room. Jamie looked over his shoulder to make sure she was out of ear range. He chugged the last of his beer.

"Just mention that you're staying in a hotel and Em'll suggest you staying here in a second." Jamie grinned.

"You really think she'll agree to stay with two guys?" Tyler asked.

Jamie laughed. "Lemme tell you about Emily. She loves guys." He informed. Tyler stared at him like he was crazy. "Growing up as coach's daughter, Emily was constantly around guys. They were like the brothers she never had."

"Only child?"

"She is now." Jamie sighed. Tyler's face fell. "Her older brother passed when she was thirteen. Car accident." He shook his head. "I've known her for a good four years and she just told me maybe three months ago. It's a hard subject for her."

"Well I think it would be for anyone." Tyler stated.

"Yeah, but because of all that, she loves being around. She's kind of like one of the boys." Jamie explained.

"You do not say that to a girl, Jamie." Tyler laughed.

"I'd never say it to her but it's the truth." Jamie shrugged.

"What's the truth?" Emily asked, sitting back down with a new beer.

"That hotel rooms are shitty to stay in for long periods of time." Jamie said, standing up to get a beer. He walked into the kitchen. The oven was turned on. "What are you cooking?"

"I threw in some pizzas for us." Em explained.

"God, you're the best!"

"I know." She shrugged. She looked to Tyler. "What was the talk about hotel rooms?"

"Oh, I'm staying in one until I can find an apartment and Jamie was just sa,"

"No!" Em shouted.

"What?" Tyler was confused.

"Absolutely not." Emily stated, sitting up and placing her beer down.

"I don't under,"

"You can move in with Jamie and I. I'm not having one of my players staying at a hotel." She shook her head as she spoke.

"Wow, Emily, are you sure?" Tyler asked.

"Of course I am! That way I can keep an eye on you too." She smiled.

"Why would you need to?" He cocked a brow.

"I know all about your antics in Boston, Kid." She smirked, sipping her beer.

"I was also a nineteen year old punk, surrounded by older guys in Boston." Tyler defended. "I'm not the same guy."

"Yeah, now you're a twenty-one year old punk in Dallas." Emily snapped back, giving him a smirk.

"Watch yourself, Vellucci." Tyler hissed.

"I'm not worried about you, Seguin." She replied.

"Just wait. I'll make living with me a hell." He threatened, the smile evident on his face.

"Being around you is more than enough." She said before going into the kitchen.
