Crossing the Line

Chapter Nine

Jackie leaned against the door to Logan’s bathroom and smirked. “You look hot,” she commented her eyebrows rising at Logan’s outfit. Logan flipped her off and told her to fuck herself. “But thank you. I know I look good,” Logan smirked blowing a kiss to Jackie. “Where did you get those shoes?” Jackie asked not recognizing the red peep toes. “Britt forced me to borrow them. She sent Cam over with them earlier,” Logan responded rolling her eyes and fixing her curls. “How was work?” Logan asked applying red lipstick, making eye contact with Jackie in the mirror. “My babies get healthier every day! Tomorrow the twins get to home,” Jackie smiled thinking about the preemies that were finally healthy. “Do you have plans tonight?” Logan asked hoping that her roommate was going out. “I do actually. I’m meeting some of the girls from the team for drinks. Dougie invited me out since Britt, Mel and Katie are going with some of the guys tonight but I already had plans,” Jackie said sounding excited about her plans but disappointed she wasn’t with Dougie. “Which team?” Logan asked curious about who she was meeting. “Truthfully I’m not even sure. I think it’s a mix of our girls from Northeastern and your girls from Italy, probably even a few Vancouver,” Jackie answered with a shrug and Logan smiled thinking about their girls before changing the subject. “I’m honestly really happy you two haven’t fucked yet because then I would lose a lot of money on top of the whole corruption thing,” Logan said putting her make up back in the bag. Jackie gave Logan a look in the mirror. “I don’t think Dougie is the kind of guy to just go sleeping around so I have money on how long it will take. Some people who shall remain nameless have less faith and already owe me money but there are plenty of people who I would owe money,” Logan explained with a shrug. She didn’t see anything wrong with betting on Jackie’s love life because she knew Jackie had bet on her before. Jackie sighed and couldn’t defend herself before her phone went off. “I have to get changed we’re heading out soon,” Jackie said wishing Logan fun and reminding her to use protection.

“Hey Jackie,” Tuukka greeted when he passed her in the hallway heading to pick Logan up for dinner. “Have fun with her. Try to keep the creepy guys off her,” Jackie said her eyes pleading. Tuukka just nodded not knowing what she was talking about but curious to find out. “Logs are you ready? If you want to get dinner before you meet up with Alex we have to get going,” he announced walking into her place. “I’m coming!” Logan called from somewhere in the condo. Leaning against the eat in island in the kitchen Tuukka looked up when he heard heels on tile and his heart stopped when he saw Logan. Her black dress hugged her in all the right places and as she turned he saw it had no back showing even more skin. Her toned legs looked longer than normal due to heels that put her four or five inches above her normal height. “Logan so many people are going to make passes at you,” Tuukka said stress in his voice evident. “Pish posh I’m going dancing and I look good. You can’t see my boobs or my ass so it’s not like it’s that revealing. Maybe if men would realize that not everything is theirs for the taking you wouldn’t be so worried about how I’m dressed,” Logan lectured putting on a light coat. Tuukka rolled his eyes but didn’t respond instead just offered his arm as they walked down to his car.

“How’s the rescue search going?” Tuukka asked they drove to a restaurant near the club. “I totally forgot to tell Jackie! Someone called me earlier when I was at work and left a message that there are two dogs, both German Shepherds both male and were we interested. So obviously I called back yes we want one and we can go get him I think Sunday,” Logan said her brow furrowing at she typed out a message to Jackie. Tuukka laughed and shook his head. “Only you could get a dog and forget to tell your roommate who was the person that wanted a dog in the first place,” he teased. “Fuck you Tuuks,” she responded without hesitation as she finished her message. “I have to pull over first,” he said earning a smack in the stomach. “I’m trying to drive here!” he protested which made her hit him again. “If you can make dirty jokes you can take a smack in the stomach,” Logan reasoned fidgeting with her dress. They were quiet for a minute only faint music in the background before Logan spoke up. “Is there a polite way to tell someone that you don’t have romantic feelings for them?” she asked her voice revealing how vulnerable she felt. He considered her words for a moment as he parked the car. “Yeah, to just tell him out right that you don’t have feelings for him as anything more than friends. Just don’t use big words that might confuse him,” Tuukka told her teasing at the end ease her worry.

Walking with Tuukka she looped her arm through his and glanced at him. “He’s really a nice guy and all but sometimes when I’m out with him I wish I was at home in my pajamas drinking wine with Jackie or out doing what ever it is we’re doing with you,” Logan admitted with a deep sigh. Tuukka grinned and tried to cover it up when he opened the door for her. He loved that she would rather be with him than on a date with Alex. “If anything goes wrong tonight don’t forget that we’re all going out tonight since we don’t have a game for a few days so you can call any of us and we’ll be there to back you up,” Tuukka told her already starting to think about which clubs were close to where Logan was going. “I know what you’re doing and you don’t need to,” Logan said interrupting his thoughts. Tuukka stuck his tongue out making Logan laugh at his childish antics. The hostess was an older woman who smiled at them. “Have a wonderful date night,” she said with a wink after seating them. They exchanged a look and burst out laughing. “Why does everyone always think we’re dating?” Logan asked sounding truly perplexed. Tuukka shook his head at her laughing at her now. “Geez Logs maybe because we literally go on dates all the time,” he said making her grumble under her breathe. “Alright Mr. Sassypants don’t be so annoying or I’ll stand you up on our next date,” Logan threatened only making him laugh harder. “Yeah good one,” he choked out between peals of laughter. Logan decided to spend the rest of their meal ignoring him but didn’t get very far when he started asking about the puppy she and Jackie were getting. “Want to see a picture?” she asked breaking the silence and taking out her phone to pull up a photo of the Shepherd pup. “Are you going to train him to be your new body guard?” Tuukka asked skeptically noticing how placid the puppy looked in the picture. Logan rolled her eyes but told him all about her and Jackie’s plans for the puppy except for them naming him after a hockey player. Tuukka just laughed, of course she had it all planned out. Logan always had a plan. “What did you order? That actually looks edible,” Tuukka remarked when their food arrived. Logan rolled her eyes but explained it was just vegetables so of course it was edible. “In my defense half the time we’re out you get weird tofu stuff after interrogating our server about the GMOs in the tofu,” Tuukka said raising his hands. “You should be honored I’m comfortable enough to be annoying in front of you,” Logan remarked making him snort. Their banter continued throughout dinner and followed them to the car.

“I mean it Logan, if anything at all goes wrong then you call or text any of us and we’ll be there within a minute,” Tuukka said pulling up outside the Tunnel, Logan’s favorite night club. “Tuukka if anything goes south you’re my go to guy. Always have been, always will be,” Logan said placing a kiss on the back of his hand. “I won’t tell Cam I promise,” Tuukka teased trying to ease the tension in his body. “I’m not getting out of the car until you can hold the wheel normally,” Logan said turning his large hand over in her small ones and tracing the lines along his palm. Tuukka sighed and felt the stress leaving his body, her touch helping him to relax. “I’m fine I promise, I’ll go have a good time and I won’t check my phone every thirty seconds,” Tuukka promised. I’ll just do it every forty-five seconds, Tuukka thought that way he wouldn’t be lying to her. Logan rolled her eyes she didn’t buy it. “I have to go before I’m really late. I’m telling him first and then I might meet up with Jackie if he doesn’t want to continue with the date,” Logan said trying to reassure her best friend. “Does Cam know?” Tuukka asked, for some reason it made him feel better when both he and Cam were worrying about Logan. “Of course he knows Cam always knows everything. Even when he doesn’t want to,” she said with a laugh. After procrastinating for a few more minutes Logan got out of the car. The bouncer let her right through the line since he knew her and she was always there with the Bruins. Turning one last time Logan waved and blew a kiss to Tuukka before disappearing from his view. Before pulling away from the curb he texted his group message with the guys asking for a change in location to the club next to where Logan was.

Alex wasn’t hard to spot and Logan found him shortly after entering the club. He was standing over near the bar talking to a guy who Logan recognized as one of his college teammates. Before making her presence known Logan got herself a rum and coke. “Hey,” she greeted with a smile walking up to Alex not long after his teammate walked away. “You look beautiful,” Alex said bending down to kiss her. “Do you mind if we talk for a moment?” Logan asked her nervousness masked under a calm demeanor. Alex nodded his head and took her hand leading her away from the bar to a quieter spot in the club. “What’s up Logan?” Alex asked looking down at her, not hearing her sigh but seeing her shoulders move. “Alex, I just don’t have romantic feelings for you. Yeah I like you but it’s the way I like all my guy friends. I don’t think it’s fair to you if we keep going out when I know that I don’t have romantic feelings and wasting your time when you could be out with a girl who’s so head over heels for you that she thinks you hung the moon,” Logan said shocking Alex. He thought things had been going well with them and hated the periods between dates because they were too long. “I respect your feelings but have to say that I enjoy spending time with you and would like to continue doing so,” Alex said after a moment already trying to formulate a way to change her mind. Logan smiled up at him and Alex thought his heart might stop. “I like hanging out with you too just not in a romantic way. If you don’t want to hang out tonight because of this I totally understand,” Logan started but was cut off by Alex taking her hand and leading her towards the dance floor. “What I want is to hang out with my friend Logan and go dancing like she promised me we would,” he said with a smile that made her laugh.

Logan woke up in the morning with a slight headache and found herself unable to move due to the arms circling her waist. Her heart rate spiked and she started to panic until a familiar voice broke through. “Logan it’s okay, you’re in your bed. You called me for a ride at some point last night and we watched a movie and fell asleep,” Tuukka said softly. As he spoke Logan remembered all of that happening and felt her heart return to a normal pace. “But you can’t leave the room because I think Jackie has someone in her room,” Tuukka whispered and laughed when Logan jerked back to look at him. “Is it Dougie? I really don’t want to have to owe Katie money,” Logan groaned letting her head fall back onto Tuukka’s chest. He chuckled and she just nuzzled herself back into his side. “Everything went well last night. He took it well and we had a good time,” Logan said and Tuukka let out a sigh of relief. When Logan had called and refused to talk about her time with Alex he had assumed everything went to hell. “You know I really have to remember to thank Whitesides next time I see him,” Logan sighed her hand resting on his abs. Tuukka burst out laughing and pulled Logan closer to him. “What you like all this?” Tuukka asked shimmying and gesturing to his shirtless torso. “I’m just saying that cuddling with a nicely toned guy is more fun than cuddling with a guy not as nicely toned. Plus when I get bored I trace your abs because it gives me something to do, another guy wouldn’t have that,” Logan said innocently. Tuukka laughed again and rolled so that he was on his knees over Logan. Looking down at her with a smirk he started to tickle her, showing no mercy. Logan couldn’t control her laughter as he tickled her and begged for him to stop. “What’s that? Keep going? If you insist,” he responded ignoring when she threatened to pee herself knowing the threat was empty. “You two would be quieter if you were fucking!” Jackie yelled from somewhere in the condo causing them to both burst out laughing. Tuukka slumped forward his head on Logan’s shoulder as laughter racked his body. “Guess what,” Logan said when they both had calmed down. Tuukka didn’t respond but looked at her waiting for her to continue. “I’m going to your game today and you have to go to morning skate soon,” she said glancing at the clock. “Pregame nap?” Tuukka asked giving her his best puppy dogface. “You asshole we’ve been taking pregame naps together for years we’re never stopping,” Logan said and started trying to push him out of bed so he would go to morning skate.

My heart hurts for what's happening to Logan :( the drama is a very good driving force though. I'm so happy that Tuukka finally vocalized his feelings, and I hope that he gets her home soon so they can be together and happy.

Really like this so far! Love the Jackie/Dougie drama in the latest chapter, either way it's going to cause some issues for them in the future! Keep up the good work! :)
