Trouble in Paradise

Headaches and heartaches

Chapter four
I woke up in an unfamiliar bed, I tried to get up but someone’s arm was holding me close to them tightly. I expected it to be Jordy but boy was I wrong. I was lying in bed next to Patrick Kane. Yeah, I’d slept in his bed before but never naked. We both were naked actually. How much did I drink last night? I knew Pat was a heavy sleeper so I shoved his arm off of me and quickly scrambled to get out of his reach before he could pull me into him again. I looked around for my clothes but they were no where in sight. I just decided to grab a sweatshirt and a pair of his shorts that were laying on the floor next to the bed on his side. My head and body were killing me. I quickly made my way into the bathroom feeling the all too familiar urge to empty the contents of my stomach, which wasn’t much. I groaned putting my head in my hands. I sat like that until I didn’t feel as nauseous when I moved. Thankfully Pat hadn’t woken up during my time in the restroom. I tip toed my way out of his room and down the stairs into the kitchen, where I found Jonny sitting reading the morning paper, something I became accustomed to when I would stay here with them. He had the same morning routine. “What happened last night?” I asked looking around the cabinet for some advil. “You seriously don’t remember?” He asked putting the paper down and raising his eyebrows at me. I shook my head no. “I’m actually not that surprised. You and Kaner got drunk off your asses. You both took a cab back here around 2:30. I didn’t want to come home yet and when I did I wished I hadn’t.” He winked. “Ugh, kill me.” I said laying my head down on the cool countertop. That’s when I remembered that I told Jordy I would be back late last night. “Crap crap crap!” I yelled looking frantically for my clutch. I needed to tell Jordy I was okay.I knew I would probably have a bunch of missed calls and text messages from him and the others. “Have you seen my clutch?” I asked Jon. “Your what?” He asked obviously confused. “My bag, the one I had with me last night.” I said still searching. “Might want to check Kaners room. You spent a lot of time there last night.” He tried to fight the laugh, I just sent him a death glare. I made my way back into Kaners room searching high and low for my stuff. I finally found everything under his bed, after searching for what seemed like ages, but in reality it was probably only a few minutes. I quietly entered the bathroom and pulled out my phone. Boy was I in trouble. I had dozens of missed calls and texts. I looked at the calls first. The last one came in at about 3 am. Then I moved on to my texts. I had 7 from Jordy, 5 from Sid, 4 from Kris, 3 from Duper, 4 from Sunshine and 2 from Evgeni. I decided I didn’t want to read those and just deleted them. I opened Jordan’s texts first.
“Kellie it’s 1 in the morning where are you?”
“Kellie call me soon, so I know you’re okay.”
“It’s 3am, no one can get a hold of you. We’re going out looking for you. If you see this, please call me, or one of the guys if you’re mad and don’t want to talk to me.” The rest of the texts from the guys were similar to all of Jordan’s. They were going to kill me. I quickly got dressed and found another one of my pills. I crushed it up and snorted it. I was definitely going to need to be high if I was going to face the guys any time soon. I went back down stairs finishing my text to Jordan letting him know I was on my way back to the hotel. “Jonny I’m leaving.” I kissed his cheek lightly. “Here let me drive you. Sidney has something for me anyways.” I nodded following him out to his car. “Can we please not mention what happened last night like ever again?” I asked. I didn’t want to think about it ever again but I knew that that wasn’t possible. “I doubt Kane will remember anyways. He was hammered and you know how he gets plus his memory sucks. I let the guys know that you were staying with me so you shouldn’t be in too much trouble.” He said turning onto the highway. I breathed a sigh of relief. Jonny wasn’t going to completely get me out of trouble but thanks to him I wasn’t going to show up to a room full of worried hockey players. “Thanks Jonny, you’re a life saver.” He just smirked, not saying a word.
“Kellie. I’m so glad you’re okay. You have no idea how worried we all were about you last night. I had Duper, Sunshine, Geno, Sidney, Kris, Max and Nealer on high alert. We were moments away from walking through the door to go look for you when Jonathan called me. Please don’t do that ever again. It’s fine if you stay with Kane and no one is saying you can’t, but please just let at least one of us know so we don’t think you’re laying in an alley somewhere in trouble and almost call the cops. Thankfully Jonathan called when he did.” I shivered at the mention of the dark alley. “We’re actually on our way to the hotel, we’ll be there in maybe ten minutes. I’m sorry I worried you guys. That wasn’t my intention at all, I promise. I had planned on coming back to the hotel but I guess I just lost track of time and drinking so much probably didn’t help anything either. I’ll see you soon.” I said hanging up the phone. Jonny pulled into a parking spot and I followed him inside. The elevator ride up to our floor was completely silent. Once the doors opened he took off for Sidney’s room and I went to Jordan ‘s.
“Jody?” I questioned slowly opening the door. I was quickly picked up and squeezed in a tight hug by Jordan. “I’m so glad you’re okay. You have no idea.” He said noticing I was still wearing my dress from the night before. “How about I give you some time to shower and change and then we can talk. I’m sure you’d feel a little bit better.” Jordy smiled kissing my cheek. “I’ll be back in half an hour. I’m going to give you some privacy.” He said grabbing his key and walking out the door. Honestly being alone was the last thing that I wanted. I turned pandora on my phone and made my way into the bathroom. I looked terrible, which was exactly how I felt. No, I felt worse than terrible. I decided that I needed my pills. I opened the bottle and grabbed three out, crushing them with ease. All I wanted was for the constant ache that I felt to go away, I needed it to go away. I turned the hot water on as hot as it would go and stood under the water. I couldn’t help but try to remember what happened with Kane and I. The more I thought about it the more sick to my stomach I became.
*Jordan’s point of view*
I closed the door to our hotel room, leaning my back on it. Kellie looked terrible and I’m sure she felt that way as well. I exhaled before walking down the hall to Sidney’s room. I knocked and was quickly let inside. I found Geno sitting on the couch, Sidney sat down on the bed and Jonathan was sitting on the chair at the small table in the corner of the room. I took the chair next to him. “Alright so why exactly am I here?” Jon asked looking around at all of us. “Kellie need help.” Geno spoke first, not looking up from the floor. “What G means is we found something that has us worried.” Jon shot me a confused look. “I found a pill bottle in Kellie’s bag. When I looked in there it had a mixture of powder and pills. I tried asking her about it and she blew up on me. She snatched the bottle out of my hands and locked herself in the bathroom. After she left to go out with you guys I looked in the bottle again and all of the powder was missing. I have two of them here.” I said pulling them out of my pocket and showing them to him. He looked at them for awhile before he spoke. “I’m pretty sure these are vicodin. I took them for a little bit after I got hurt during one of the games. I didn’t think Kellie was into the whole pill thing. I know she was a pretty heavy drinker for a long time. After everything that happened while she was with Brandon and after she was drinking all of the time. She spent most of her time with Kaner and I but sometimes she would crash at one of the guys houses. It all depended on who went home last. Wait.” Jonathan seemed to think about something for a minute. “Why is he here?” He asked pointing at G. “He said all of those hurtful things about her. Yeah I know.” He said coldly towards G. “Why do you all of a sudden care about her? According to K and Tyler you don’t care about her. You have a girlfriend that you’re happy with. Remember?” He asked, his words full of fire. I could tell that this conversation wasn’t going to go the way that I had hoped. Geno got off the couch and walked to where Jon was now standing. “That was mistake.” Geno practically yelled in his face. “That’s your problem, not mine. You hurt her, a lot. Maybe that’s why she started with the pills. Here’s an idea, why don’t you stay out of it and i’ll figure all of this out.” I could tell the two were close to throwing down, this wasn’t what I wanted at all. “Hey!” I yelled getting their attention. “Sit down, now.” I ordered, they hesitated at first but eventually sat down. “We’re all here because we care about Kellie and we don’t want to see her hurt. I think we need to sit her down and talk about this.” Sidney shook his head in agreement. “I agree, we just need to figure out how to come about it. What if we got one of the wives or girlfriends to meet us at the next city? They could follow her around and see what she does when we aren’t around. “ He suggested. That could work. “That won’t work. She’ll become suspicious. She isn’t good friends with a lot of females. There’s Tyler and Sharp’s wife Abby. That’s it. She doesn’t trust anyone else. I could have her sit in the box with Ab’s and some of the other wives. If there’s something going on Abby will see it. They were pretty much inseparable. I’ll give her a call and set everything up. All you guys have to do is get her to come down to our locker room. That may be harder than it sounds by the way.” Jon handed the pills back to me before getting up to leave, but not before giving Geno a death glare. What did he mean by it would be harder than it sounds to get Kellie to go to their locker room?
*Kellie’s point of view*
I was pretty sure I had spent a lot longer than thirty minutes in the shower, but I couldn’t bring myself to care. Wrapping the towel around my body and another around my hair I grabbed my phone, intent on changing the annoying song that was playing. I had a new text from Kaner.
“Hey, wanna go out after the game? Kaner (;” I definitely wasn’t in the mood to see or speak to Kaner. All I wanted to do was crawl into bed and sleep. I noticed another text pop up, but instead of it being from Kane, like I had originally thought it was Ty. I smiled realizing how much I missed my best friend.
“Hey doll! I miss you. How are things going so far? Has G apologized to you yet?” I quickly responded back with not good. It took thirty seconds for her to receive, read the text and call me.
“Tell me what’s wrong. Is it Geno? Cause you know I will call him and bitch him out. I’ll use Google Translate if I need too.” She joked making me laugh.
“Surprisingly, no. It isn’t G.” I slid down, so I was sitting on the floor. “I kind of messed up big time last night.” I whispered unsure if Jordan had come back yet or not. Ty stayed silent, waiting for me to go on. I sighed and took a deep breath before I quickly muttered, “I slept with Patrick Kane.” Into the phone. I could tell Tyler was smiling now by the sound of her voice. “How is that messing up K? Do you know how many girls would kill to have been you last night?” She joked. “ Was he at least good?” She laughed. “I don’t remember it at all. Apparently Jon heard us and it’s just really embarrassing. I don’t like him like that Ty. I feel like I cheated on Geno and we aren’t even together. He’s seriously almost all I think about. Being here sucks. I thought it was going to be fun, but honestly I miss him. I miss his smile, his laugh, his adorable accent, his crappy English; that is getting better might I add, I miss texting him, our movie nights. Hell I miss everything about the man.” For the first time since I had known Tyler I cried. “What am I supposed to do?” I asked wiping away the tears that were freely falling. I grabbed the bottle that had become my new best friend and the only thing I seemed to want anymore. I crushed up four of the pills and waited to feel the excitement of the high, and if I was lucky I’d be able to relax a little bit. I knew Ty wouldn’t suspect anything since I was crying anyways. “I really wish I knew what to tell you babe. I feel bad that I’m not there for you. I know we both could use one of our famous Jack and pizza nights.” We both laughed. I heard a knock at the door. “Ty, I have to go I think Jordan just got back. I’ll call you later okay.” We said our goodbyes and hung up. I quickly threw on a pair of shorts and a tanktop before exiting the bathroom. “Jordy is that you?” I asked peeking my head around the corner. “Yeah, I’m back. Sorry I took so long. I thought you may be hungry. I went to Starbucks and got you your favorite Vanilla Bean Frap and I picked up some donuts. I didn’t know what one you’d prefer so I got a few.” He laughed sipping his coffee. I hugged him tightly before taking a long sip of my drink. “Thank you Jordan.” He nodded in return. I wasn’t really hungry so I didn’t touch the donuts. “Maybe we can find a few of the guys who wouldn’t mind taking these off of our hands.” I pulled the bag up and Jordan nodded. I looked at the time it was 2:30 in the afternoon. “Isn’t it time for your pre game nap?” I asked raising my eyebrow at him. “Yeah, wanna do me a favor and cuddle with me?” He asked giving me the puppy dog eyes. I couldn’t resist them, I never could. “I’d be glad too.” I laughed climbing under the covers. Jordan took off his shirt and his sweats before crawling into bed next to me. Within 24 hours I’ve been in the same bed as two attractive hockey players wearing nothing or next to it. I couldn’t help but think of how many girls would kill to be in my place right now. “Kellie? I asked you a question. “ Jordan said shaking me lightly. I quickly apologized, blaming it on me being spacy. “Are you going to the game tonight?” He asked again. “I hadn’t planned on it. I kind of just want to chill here and sleep, maybe order something from the Chinese place down the street.” Jordan’s face went from being neutral to disappointed. “I think you should go. Sidney told me Jonathan had a huge surprise for you.” I listened to his words and repeated them in my head a few times. Why would Jonny have a surprise for me? I wondered what it could be. “Fine, Jordan. I’ll go. I’m not going near their locker room though.” I stated curling up closer to him, shivering because I was so cold. “Cold?” He asked. I nodded in response, causing him to pull me closer to his chest. I fell asleep listening to the sound of his heartbeat.
