Prank War

Four

I walked in the karaoke bar a little late, shivering from the cold weather. Like Chicago winters are the worst thing on this earth. Even worse than being forced to sit through the movie 'Titanic' and trust me, that's hell.

'Why in God's name did I ever move to Chicago? Oh yeah, family. Why am I staying? Oh yeah, friends. Life is hard.'

I held an amused expression looking at all of the costumes on the dance floor. Saader and Alyssa were dressed up as Prince Eric and Ariel, Sharpie and Abby were dressed up as The Big Bad Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood, Bicks and Amanda were dressed up as an old fisherman and a sexy fish, and Jonny and Lindsey were dressed up as Grumpy and slutty Snow White (no surprise there). There were also a ton of other people mingling around, drinking and having a good time.

I noticed Bollig, Leddy, and Shawzy were all sitting at the bar laughing loudly and sloshing beer all over the floor and bar. Bollig was dressed up as the Hulk, Leddy was dressed up as Alan from The Hangover, and Shawzy was dressed up as Ace Venture (tutu and all). Bollig and Leddy looked hammered and it's only been an hour.

'Guess I gotta catch up on some shots later.'

As I was watching the three idiots shout something at each other, I felt someone smack my ass.

"Hey Parks." I turned and glared at Kaner as he gave me a smirk. He was dressed up as Harry Potter, complete with the Gryffindor scarf, lightning bolt, and glasses.

"Hey Peaks. Why'd you slap my ass?"

"Because I thought it was a good idea?" He said as he pulled me into a side hug just when Amanda finally made her way to me.

"Parker! Better late than never, right?" She gave me a dry look as I shrugged sheepishly.

"Sorry, my hair took a lot longer than I thought it would." I tugged on a pink curl "This costume better be fucking worth it."

"Oh yeah! Let me see how it turned out!!" Amanda tugged me away from Pat as she motioned towards me coat. "Come on, hurry up."

I rolled my eyes but smiled shyly as I slid off my coat showing off my costume.

"Holy fucking shit." Patrick mumbled looking me up and down.

"YOU LOOK AMAZING!" Amanda squealed, clapping her hands together "I knew that was the perfect costume for you."

"It's not too much?" I quirked an eyebrow as Pat and Amanda shook their heads.

"Fuck no. Shit, that's way better than an ice girl. Way better." Pat shifted slightly, backing away towards the bar. "Uh, I'm going to go see what.. Sharpie! Yeah see what Sharpie's doing. I'll be right back." He briskly walked away as Amanda started giggling.

"Looks like someone's got a little admirer."

"Please," I rolled my eyes "Pat and I would never work out, we're way too close."

"Whatever you say Parker." She sang out as she grabbed my arm "Let's go show you off to the others."

"Alright.." She tugged me through the crowd, exchanging 'hellos' and 'how are yous' with a few people. Andrew gave me a thumbs up from the bar and I gave him a shy smile as I was pulled to Saader, Bryan, and Alyssa.

"You look so good!" Alyssa yelled, tackling me in a hug making me stumble "I'm in love with those heels! Where'd you get them?"

"I think I got them for Christmas last year? I don't really remem-"

"Do you have a half sleeve tattoo?" Saader cut me off, pulling at my rolled up sleeve.

"Dude, where the hell have you been?" Bryan deadpanned as Saader ignored him, still trying to look at my tattoo. "She's had it for about six months."

"What is it?"

"It's nothing special, just a tattoo. I'll show you some other time." I shrugged slapping his hand away. "So who's sung so far?"

"Well, Abby dragged Sharpie up there and forced him to sing some Michael Bublé song. Then Duncs and Seabs tried singing 'Party in the USA'. It was pretty hilarious, sucks that you missed it." Bryan and Brandon chuckled as I frowned.

"Reasons why you should never show up late to a karaoke party." Amanda gave me a smug smile making me roll my eyes.

"It's not my fault my hair was being stupid!" I exclaimed throwing my hands up "They're not even fucking American!" Everyone was laughing as I crossed my arms.

I gave Amanda and Alyssa a weird look when I noticed they had sly smiles on their faces. I jumped as I felt someone slide a hand around my waist holding out a beer.

"You looked thirsty." I shivered as Andrew leaned in mumbling into my ear, his warm breath fanning over my neck.

"Thanks Drew." I pecked his cheek as I took a sip.

"Hey Shawz, where's my beer at since you're just handing them out?" Bryan punched his shoulder as Andrew rolled his eyes.

"You can get your own fucking beer." He pulled me closer to his side, sliding his hand low on my hip. I blushed lightly, but ignored the looks the two girls were giving me. "They said dress in a costume, Bicks. Didn't anyone tell you?" Shawzy chirped.

"Ha, funny. I was going to say the same thing to you. I'm pretty sure I saw you wear that outfit the other day to practice." Brandon let out a loud laugh as Bryan smirked.

"What ever bro. I have woman running to me all the time." Shawzy puffed out his chest as I rolled my eyes, pinching his side. He squeezed my hip lightly, sending me a goofy grin.

'He's so cute, how is he even single?'

"More like running from you." I couldn't hold back my laughter as his cheeks flushed red.

"I don't dress that bad, shut up." He griped out and turned towards me "I don't dress that bad, do I?"

"No!"

"Don't lie to him Parker! You're better than that." Brandon shouted dramatically.

"I'm not! He honestly doesn't." I said defensively "It could be worse, he could dress like Pat."

"He does dress pretty badly." Amanda winced

"Excuse me?" I felt someone pull me from Andrew's side, wrapping their arms around my waist and leaning their chin on my shoulder. "Who dresses badly?"

"You do, duh." I gave Patrick a pointed look.

"You would know, you helped me pick it out asshole."

"Nu-uh! You bought that awful pinstriped suit without me dickwad." I pulled away to stand closer to Andrew.

"You know what? That doesn't matter. I didn't come over here for that. Come on." He grabbed my wrist dragging me towards the stage. I looked back, giving everyone a helpless look. They all just kind of shrugged, not knowing what was going on.

"Wait, we're doing a duet?" I squealed in excitement. "I thought you said we weren't going to do a duet!"

"Well, I did say that. But then I came up with the perfect song for us to perform." He grabbed two microphones, climbing up on stage.

"Patrick, wait! What are we singing?" He ignored me as he cleared his throat into the microphone, collecting everyone's attention.

"It's time for some real talent to grace the stage unlike Duncs and Seabs." He sent them a smirk and continued "Parker and I will be singing a duet that'll blow your minds." I gave everyone a wave as I heard cheers. "Hit it!"

"Go Parker! Woohoo!" Amanda, Alyssa, and Abby were clearly my biggest fans and I gave them a thumbs up.

Everyone was quiet as the music began to play. Patrick's smile was infectious as he sang the first line

"Somewhere out there, beneath the pale moon light.."

"Peaks is going to get Parker into trouble tonight, I can just see it now." Abby shook her head disapprovingly as we watched the two of them throw back tequila shots like it was nothing. I was actually pretty impressed with the amount of alcohol they ingested in just ten minutes.

After they finished with their duet, they made a beeline for the bar saying something along the lines of "winners deserve shots", whatever the fuck that means. They have a weird friendship.

"Ah, let them have fun. They can both handle their alcohol pretty good, well Parker can, Kaner pushes it." Sharpie wrapped his arms around his wife, pressing a kiss to her temple. "We can give Parker a ride home tonight if that makes you feel better."

"Alright, good." Abby nodded, her facial features visibly relaxing.

"I know this is kind of off subject, but how did Parker and Patrick meet?" Actually, I'm glad Brandon asked that question. I've always wondered.

"Oh god, that was in like.. 2011-2012?" Bicks tried recalling.

I shook my head "No, it was before I was drafted."

"Yeah, they met during the 2010-2011 season. Didn't they met when we were playing against the Blues?" Sharpie turned towards Hjammer, who shrugged. "Actually I'm pretty sure they did. It was completely by accident. Her and a couple family members were going to meet a few Blues players before they boarded the bus and Parker managed to take a wrong turn and end up by our locker room. Long story short, Kaner somehow sweet talked her into coming out to dinner with us and the rest is history."

"Yeah, best mistake I ever made." Parker exclaimed cheerfully as her and Pat joined our little group. She took a seat on my lap, taking a sip of my beer. I wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her a little closer to my chest.

"And yet she still has yet to fuck me." Kaner shouted after chugging the rest of his beer. Drunk Kaner is a little more than obnoxious.

"Shut up Pat. You're not my type and you know this." Parker shrugged her shoulders as everyone chuckled.

We heard someone clear their throat through the microphone and everyone turned to watch Tazer sing 'Wagon Wheel' by Darius Rucker. His whole face was red and he stuttered a little bit, but that may have been because of Kaner shouting things like 'GO JONNY, YOU SEXY BASTARD' and 'YOU DON'T SUCK THAT BAD, DON'T WORRY'. Needless to say, Kaner's probably going to get murdered after Tazer's done.

Parker let out a yawn, leaning her head back against my shoulder as Jonny hurried off the stage. I placed a hand on her thigh, catching her attention.

"Tired?" I asked over the argument between Kaner and Leddy about who's better; Batman or Superman. Obviously it's Batman, but I wasn't going to side with Kaner.

"Yeah, those tequila shots killed me. I'm so ready for bed." She frowned as Abby perked up, turning away from her conversation with Elina and Niklas.

"Patrick and I can take you home if you want sweetie."

Parker shook her head in protest, "No, that's alright Abby. I'll just get a cab, I don't want anyone to go home earlier because of me."

"I can take you home." I offered, but cut her off before she began to protest "I'm a little tired myself so it's really not that big of a deal."

"Well.. if you wouldn't mind." She gave me a shy smile as I nodded my head.

"Alright, let's go then." She stood up off my lap and wondered off to grab her coat. Abby gave me a pointed look as I raised an eyebrow. "What's up?"

"Don't do anything stupid."

"What?! I'm just taking her home." I defended myself, because I mean I am taking her home. But whatever happens after that is totally open.

"Atta boy Shawz!" Sharpie gave me a thumbs up as I rolled my eyes, pulling my keys out as Parker came back.

"Ready?" She nodded her head waving goodbye to everyone. We practically ran to my car, getting inside before the bitter cold turned us into popsicles.

"Have I ever mentioned how much I fucking hate cold weather? Because I do." She crossed her arms and pouted as I let out a laugh shaking my head. "Shut up, you Canadian. You've been conditioned for this weather your whole life, I was not."

"No heat for you then."

Who knew Parker could punch harder than some of the guys on the team?

I was currently rummaging through Parker's fridge, looking for a bottle of water or maybe a Gatorade to get rid of this headache I felt coming on.

"Hey Andrew." I pulled out of her fridge with a blue Gatorade in hand as she was seated on a stool at the breakfast counter. Her hair was drawn back into a ponytail and all of her makeup had been washed off. Her glasses were perched on the bridge of her nose and she was wearing a grey Blackhawks strength t-shirt that looked like the one I lost a couple weeks ago. It was weird to see her so dressed down.

'I don't know why she wears makeup, she's fucking gorgeous. Ew, did I just say gorgeous? I'm such a chick. I'm a manly man, not a chick. Uh-oh... why is she giving me a weird look? Oh shit did I say that stuff out loud? Fuck, Andrew say something. Anything, don't be a fuck.'

"Uh.. I should probably go." I rubbed the back of my neck nervously as she frowned.

"Are you sure? I just bought all the seasons of 'Community', we could watch some of it." She gave me a nervous smile as I shrugged.

"I dunno..." She pouted her full lips, and oh fuck. Why does she do this to me?

"Please Andrew? I don't wanna stay by myself tonight." God fucking damn it.

"Alright... but you owe me breakfast in the morning." I glared at her as she tackled me in a hug.

"Anything you want! Come on, I already started the first season." She clicked off the kitchen light and raced down the hallway to her bedroom. I shook my head but grinned as I followed slowly behind.

'Sharpie is not going to believe this shit.

Notes

I'm sorry it took so long for me to get this chapter out! I honestly hate this chapter because it's just kind of a filler w/o filler stuff. Like half of the stuff is confusing and doesn't make sense plus there's no pranks. I swear I'm the worst writer, lmfao.

but I do love the next chapter though. It has Parker/Shawzy goodness that I've been dying to put in so hopefully everyone enjoys that. What are your thoughts on Pat/Parker's relationship? Bad? Good?

I appreciate all of the positive feedback I've been getting on this story, you guys are the absolute best! Thanks to all of those who voted, subscribed and a special thanks to Boston63, Hawksfan1988, BostonGirloftheNHL, and EvelynaKitty for commenting! You guys are the real MVPS.
