Prove It To Me

Don't Hurt The Star Player!

We took the elevator down to the main floor. Sid still wouldn't tell me where we were going. He kept pulling me by the hand until we stopped infront of a nice restaurant in the front lobby of the hotel.
"I could tell earlier today that you wanted to go on a real date, but I didn't have time to make a reservation at any of the other nice restaurants in Boston.... This place is nice though, I promise! Me and the guys have ate here a few times, but I made sure they went somewhere else tonight so we're alone. Sorry I couldn't find a better place at the last minute. If you really want to-"
Sid was talking so fast, he was obviously nervous, it was cute. My stomach was starting to grumble, I hadn't eaten for a few hours. I interuppted his nervous chatter by putting one finger to his lips gently.
"Shhhh," I whispered while giggling, "you'll come to learn that I'm happy as long as you put in an effort, which you did; so I'm happy."
He seemed relieved, his shoulders relaxed, and he broke out into his signature goofy smile.
"I guess I'm just nervous," Sid says.
"I can tell. Now lets go eat, I'm starving!" I say, this time dragging him towards the hostess to be seated.
Sid had reserved ahead of time a booth in the far corner of the restaurant where hopefully no fans could notice us.
"So did Dan talk to you today at all about missing practice?" I asked.
"No, but some of the guys I talked to said he was a little ticked off today. I suppose I hadn't checked my phone at all yet to see if he called or sent a message," he replied, "but we're on a date right now. I'll check it later."
"Ok..." I say, concerned.
"The guys really like you though..." he paused, "actually, I think they're just happy I finally found a girl I like."
I laugh.
"But they made me promise to not let you get me off my game anymore. When we versed the the Jets the other day, I was so worried you'd see that picture of me and that puck bunny, and assume things, that I couldn't stop thinking about it. It cost us the game."
"Well now I know I was wrong to assume things, and tomorrow you can kick Boston's ass."
Then our waiter finally showed up.
"Welcome to Basies. My name is Jade and I'll be your server this evening," she said with a fake smile on her face. Then leaning over the table just so you could see down her shirt to place some fresh buns down she asked, "What can I get to drink for you sir?" Giving Sid bedroom eyes.
Sid seemed oblivious to the whole thing, looking down at the drink menu, deciding between Heineken or Corona. I, on the other hand, was glaring, with my mouth wide open, at this whole fiasco, in utter shock. It was disgusting how desperate she looked. Finally, Sid chose Heineken in a glass, which Jade said was an excellent choice. Puuhlease.
Next Jade turned to me, and which much less enthusiasim, asked, "and for you?"
"I'll have the house wine, thank you," I answer, scoffing.
She smiled tightly, and strutted off.
"Uhh... what was that about? Do you know her or something?" Sid said cluelessly.
"No! She was all over you, couldn't you tell?"
"Just ignore that, it's stupid. It's why I don't go out often. They don't like me for who I am, just what I do. You're different. Sure I am, and always have been, your favourite player," he said jokingly with a wink, "but I can tell that's not why you're giving me a chance. You know the real me... the dashingly handsome, intelligiant, strong-"
Laughing, I interrupted him by kicking him in the shin under the table.
"Oww!! Don't hurt the star player!"
"Oh shut up," I say.
We joke and talk about eachothers friends, family, and lives the rest of the night. Jade lays off eventually after realising it's never going to happen. Infact, we spend over two hours at the restaurant. Sid pulls the room key from his suit jacket pocket and swipes it through the handle. The door clicks open.
"I am sooo tired," Sid exclaims.
"Me too. I'll go get changed into my pajamas," I lock myself in the bathroom and begin my nightly routine.
Once I'm done, Sid is already under the covers of the blanket, shirtless, eyes half open, watching late night news. Slowly, and unsurely, I snuggle under the covers in only a baggy t-shirt and underwear (I don't even own a pair of pajama pants). For a few seconds we awkwardly lie there, watching some old lady on TV complain about taxes.
"Thank you," I say, breaking the silence.
Sid turns down the volume of the TV and asks, "for what?"
"For proving it to me."
He doesn't smile, or say anything. Instead he closes the gap between us, and gently places his hands on the sides of my face. Then, before you know it, we are kissing. His lips are soft and firm, they move with experience, but care. I wonder how many girls he's kissed before, but quickly push that thought to the back of my mind. I hear a vibration of a phone on the bed side table, but neither of us show any signs of going to get it. Instead we kiss like that for what seems like hours, but is probably only a few minutes. When we do break apart, we are both smiling at eachother. I stare into Sid's gorgeous hazel eyes for another few seconds before turning around and snuggling my back into his chest. At first he's stiff, but then he relaxes and wraps his comforting and warm arms around my body. We sleep like that for the rest of the night.

@Jordyn4 haha ok I'll try to make the chapters longer. But I can't promise that I'll be able to keep up the chapters as often as I am now for much longer. I don't have a lot of school work at present, that can change though.
