Prove It To Me

Chinese Or Pizza?

The next day, I called in sick to work. Lying in bed, just waiting for the hours to pass by till I could see Sid’s beautiful face on TV, I decided to check my text messages. I hadn’t done so since going to the club with Kyle. I was surprised to find I had over 20+ messages, over half were from my best friend Lindsay. Most of them consisting of:

“Hey”
“R u ignoring me?”
“Helllloooo anyone there?”
“IT’S BEEN 3 DAYS WHEN R U GONNA ANSWER ME?!”

How could I have forgotten to contact Lindsay?! I’m practically dating Sidney Crosby and I haven’t even told my best friend yet! How pathetic. Quickly, I write up a text saying “need 2 talk. Call me ASAP.”
A few hours later, I’m guessing during her lunch break, she calls.
“Hello,” I answer.
“Hey, why the heck haven’t you been answering my text messages? What’s going on?”
“I’ll explain all of that later. I just need to know when I can see you.”
“Well I’m not doing anything after work, so if you want I can drop by.”
“Yes, perfect. You can stay for dinner and we can watch the Pens game.”
“Sounds like fun! See you then.”
“Bye.”

(3 hours later)

*ding dong*
Still in my pyjamas (Lindsay doesn't mind), I bound to the door. I’m actually excited to spend the night with her, it’s feels like it’s been so long. I swing the door open.
“Heyyyy,” I exclaim happily.
“Hi,” at first she smiles but then her face changes to a look of concern, “holy crap! What happened to you, did you even go to work today?”
“Um no. Come in, this could take a while to explain.”
“Ok…,” Lindsay suspiciously walks in and heads for the living room after taking off her shoes, “Is Kyle still at work? I didn’t see his truck in the driveway, as per usual. Or is this a girls night?” She questions with excitement.
“No he’s not here. It’s just us,” the look on my face must have gave it all away, because Lindsay’s eyes widened.
“Oh my gosh. You guys broke up didn’t you? What happened?”
I began to tell her all the events of my weekend, starting from the day me and Kyle spent together, to the phone call me and Sid exchanged last night.. By the end of the story, I had a sore throat from yelling, puffy red eyes from crying, and a half empty Kleenex box. Lindsay had listened quietlty, only commenting once in a while, but letting me finish my story.
When she knew I was done speaking, she said, “Kyle is such a scumbag. You should have broken up with him earlier. But OH. MY. GOD. You are dating Sidney Fucking Crosby!!!! This is so exciting! Do you think you could introduce me to James Neal? Cause damn he is fiiiine.”
“Slow down!” I say laughing, Lindsay can go from angry to excited in less than a second, and it never fails to make me laugh, “first of all, I’m not dating Sidney. Second of all, I haven’t even met James myself yet, but if I do I promise I will introduce you.”
“Thank you, but oh please. He saved you from your crazy ex. Spent the night at the hospital with you. Drove you all the way home. Called you from Winnipeg, and told you that he liked you. And you still don’t think you’re dating?”
“We haven’t gone on a date yet and we haven’t even kissed, so no, we’re not dating. Oh and don’t go around telling everyone this. It’s just between you and me, because of the media and everything.”
“I promise I won’t tell a single soul,” Lindsay replied seriously.
“Thank you,” I smiled, “now what do you feel like ordering, Chinese or pizza? We have an hour till the game starts.”

(1 hour later)

Cuddled on the couch with our plates of Chinese food, we were watching the pregame show. We’d already seen a couple interviews from Kunitz and Neal (which resulted in much shrieking from Lindsay), and Sid was up next. He came on the screen with glistening sweaty hair and sparkling eyes. I tried to focus on what they were interviewing him on, but I kept loosing concentration, he was staring straight into the camera, it felt like he was looking right at me.
“Rebecca, you are so fucking lucky,” Lindsay scoffs.
I don’t say anything, I just nod and smile, because I know that she is completely and totally correct.

Notes

Sorry I didn't update for a while. I haven't had much time recently. I've been so occupied on watching all the Pens playoff games hehe. I wrote this quickly so it's a little short and not my best writing, but I hope it tides you over till the next chapter where some stuff is gonna go dooowwn.

@Jordyn4 haha ok I'll try to make the chapters longer. But I can't promise that I'll be able to keep up the chapters as often as I am now for much longer. I don't have a lot of school work at present, that can change though.
