Meeting in a Dark Alley

The Boston-Dallas Trade 2.0 Recap and Konopka the Sabre

On July 4, 2013, the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League traded away their young superstar to the Dallas Stars. In the Blockbuster Trade, Tyler Seguin and Rich Peverley went to Dallas in return for Loui Eriksson, Joe Morrow, Matt Fraser, and Antoine Roussel. Tyler instantly settled into the new city and matured, even helping out Jamie Benn, a quiet, shy talented young veteran man.

Tyler was at a party the night the news hit him. And people joked it was a “trade party”...but it was just a party for July 4th. He was having fun and celebrating America...and then the call happened.

“Let’s prove ‘em wrong!” Tyler told Jamie via text. And he came to arrive in Dallas.

Once there, he quickly met his new teammates, including Jamie. The older man looked him up and down and stated, “You’re not the man I thought you were going to be, truthfully...but hey, you’re almost cooler in person.”

“Uh, thanks, I guess…” Tyler remarks, scratching his head nervously.

“Hey, we’re going to have tons of fun!” Jamie exclaims, not sounding too enthusiastic.

“Says the worst party person ever,” Reilly Smith chirps. He is walking by them.

“Reilly, go elsewhere!” Jamie attempts a comeback.

Reilly shrugs. Jamie puts an arm around Tyler and leads him to the locker room. (I feel like this is going to turn into a musical, cause I am thinking about Galavant songs, but I’m trying not to have Jamie burst out in song and dance.) They enter the room, where the rest of the team is. Jamie does the introductions and then they both get dressed and head to the rink, where they have their first practice, coming back from the long summer break.

The two launched onto the ice and skated smoothly over to where the others were gathered with the new coach, Lindy Ruff.

“Alright, so, I know that things are a little different,” the older man spoke. “But, this is the new Dallas Stars era and we’re going to tear the league up this year. Jamie, Tyler, Reilly, you’re a line. Eakin, Cole, Fiddler, you’re a line. Peverley, Sceviour, and Chiasson, you’re a line. Garbutt, Horcoff and Whitney, you’re a line. Valeri Nichushkin, you’re going to sub on different lines, since you’re a rookie and you’re Russian.”

Val, a young Russian rookie, who was drafted by Dallas, stood at the back of the group with a veteran Russian player in Sergei Gonchar. He was smiling sweetly and excitedly. The players all split and went to their spots.

Reilly, Val, Jamie and Tyler grouped together, smiling and getting to know each other some more. Val was just grinning.

“So, you came from Russia, huh?” Jamie asked. “That’s cool.”

“Uh...yes!” Val replied, more so taking a guess at what his response could be to the vet. “I-uh-I come from Chelyabinsk.”

“That’s cool. Don’t worry, your English will get better with time. So, I guess we’re starting with Reilly being the primary winger, with you subbing in.”

Val rubbed his arm and cocked his head. Then he looked around the rink. Tyler stepped forward and helped to guide him to the side. He stood by the boards, while Tyler, Reilly and Jamie got set in their line. Tyler centered the line. He won the faceoff and passed the puck to Jamie, who sent it to Reilly. They had instant chemistry.

But then things got switched up: Jamie and Tyler swapped roles, with Jamie playing Centre. They still held the chemistry and Lindy was impressed. Then Reilly and Val tagged out. There was still chemistry, which was quite interesting. Lindy was shocked to see the chemistry and talent with Jamie and Tyler especially, but also being able to form a killer line with Reilly and Val.

It was determined that both could switch on and off with the first line.

This was the Dallas Stars team that would be playing in the 2013-2014 season.

Meanwhile,

In Buffalo, Zenon Konokpa was getting acclimated to his new team, which happened to be full of goons and - according to him - awesome people. He quickly made friends with Steve Ott, John Scott, Patrick Kaleta, and Tyler Myers.

Quickly after becoming friends with them, they were all hanging out in the locker room together, before an optional practice, when Myers asked, “So, what got you kicked out of Minny?”

“Would you believe that it was because I was too “dangerous” to keep? I’m a goon and over there, I was labeled one as well,” Zenon spat on the ground.

Ott, Scott, and Myers all nodded in understanding.

“And this little punk named Reilly Smith is the cause of me leaving.”

“Reilly Smith? The Dallas Star player?” Ott questioned.

“Yeah,” Zenon responded. “I hope to take another run at him!!” He punched a fist into the palm of his hand, threateningly.

“I’d like to run him through too,” Ott stated, flashing a wicked grin. “I’m not a fan of Dallas Stars!”

“And Jamie Benn as well!” Scott added on.

“And what about that new kid too?” Myers questioned. “Tyler Seguin? Didn’t he do an article where he called you out, Zenon?”

“Who? What?” Zenon snapped.

“Tyler Seguin, the ex-Bruin...that superstar first round draft pick?” Myers explained, not flinching or backing down from the scary goon.

“Oh, yeah, the Improper Bostonian!” Zenon remarked, folding his arms.

“He was asked some question about ‘who he wouldn’t want to meet in a dark alley?’ and he responded with you,” Myers said. “I can pull up the article to show you.” He started to reach for his phone.

Zenon waved him off and paced around before his friends and then turned to them, smirking wickedly. “How very right he is. Looks like Reilly’s not the only target anymore.”

“Oh no?” Ott echoed.

“No...Tyler Seguin is too...he doesn’t want to meet me in a dark alley, huh? Well, what if we test out his theory?” Zenon continued to smirk evilly. As he continued to think about it, the more that smirk of his grew and the wickeder it got.

“You’re going to meet Seguin in a dark alley and scare him?” Myers questioned, raising an eyebrow.

“Sure!”

“But how are you going to get him, you couldn’t kidnap him?” the tall Sabre continued to question.

“No, no, not kidnap, more like blackmail...with Reilly...” Zenon cackled, as he looked to Ott, who was rubbing his hands together greedily.

“With Reilly? How?” Ott questioned suddenly, stopping his sinister hand rubbing.

“I’ll tell him to meet me in the alley at a specific time, if he doesn’t, Reilly will get seriously hurt. How’s that for an evil plan?”

“I like it! Let’s do it! And we can run Reilly through the boards anyway!” Ott exclaimed.

“Of course!” Zenon stated, laughing.

The four of them nodded and began to snicker evilly, before busting out the villain cackles, which echoed and filled the locker room for the Buffalo Sabres.

Notes

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013–14_Buffalo_Sabres_season - Pretty Disgusting...ewwww!!!! (Run Kaner, Tazer, Segs, Benny, Smitty, etc...)
Okay, so I'm sorry this one hasn't been updated in over two months, I have been tossing around many options with this and been extremely busy with little brain power to do this one until now. I've shortened it up a bunch and it is now a 7/8 chapter story, real short, but the chapters will be super long with it.
I hope that this works out to be the best and may Zenon NEVER get near the Dallas Stars in real life...especially not Val, Tyler, Jamie or Reilly!!

Next up: Dallas vs Buffalo and Fighting Galore!!

You know what, think of this as a spinoff from Project Blackhawk. :D Only in the view of Bacon. ;)

Hey, this is just going to be a quick little story, nothing too long, actually. It's going to be only ten chapters. :) But I hope it will be long enough and it will work out and be fine.

Thanks,
- Evelyna
