Project Blackhawk (or The Blackhawk Experiment)

The Butterfly Effect: Where’s Kaner?

2009, Night of the Big Prank

The Blackhawks locker room was buzzing with electricity. After a stellar rookie season from whom the entire group labeled “the kids”, there was plenty to be excited about in Chicago. Jonathan and Patrick were conversing with each other in the locker room, smiles on their faces. Patrick Sharp and Adam Burish stood to the side of them, occasionally poking into their talk.

Suddenly, the light in the locker room flickered and everyone looked around in curiousness. Jonathan looked at Patrick in question and grabbed his hand instinctively. After a few seconds, the light stopped flickering and remained on. Everyone returned to their talk and good nature.

“So, why did you grab my hand?” Patrick asked, cocking a sly smile.

“No reason, just instinct man. Sorry.”

“It’s okay. You can grab my hand, Jonny.”

Jonathan smiled at Patrick and put an arm around his shoulders.

At the entrance of the room, a cloud of smoke appeared along with blue lightning and then a flickering light. As it all cleared away, a tall figure stood in the frame. He smirked evilly and walked into the room. No one seemed to care or notice his bizarre magical entrance. He walked up to Sharp and Adam. The two pranksters looked at him.

“What are you doing in here?” Adam growled.

“I need to speak to you two, sorry for the illegal intrusion into your precious locker room, but it is important what I have to tell you.”

“What could you possibly want? You’re a Flyer!” Adam snapped.

“That may be true, but I’ve got a really good prank for you to play on Tazer and Kaner. Surely I’ve peaked your interest now?”

“Get out of here Pronger!” Both men snapped.

Chris Pronger smiled and laughed. “Typical Blackhawk.”

Sharp shook his head. “Get out. We don’t want to talk to you.”

“Just hear me out, please. It’ll be worth your while, I promise.”

Pronger smirked. He watched the two, as they seemed to consider his request. There was a moment of silence that followed. In the background Andrew Ladd and Kris Versteeg were hanging together, while Jonathan and Patrick still held onto one another and were essentially rubbing noses together.

“Alright, what is the prank?” Sharp finally asked, with a heavy sigh. “We’ll listen to it and then decide.”

“A good choice...that is fair. So, first, you both are going to get Versteeg over there to talk to Kaner and Jonathan will be standing before the symbol, you know. Then Antti Niemi will stop Adam to speak to him. At that time, Sharp, you are going to push Jonathan backward. He’ll step on the symbol and get pissed off. You, Sharp, will duck his attack and he will hurt Patrick, his best friend…” He broke out in wicked cackling.

“And this will work?” Adam inquired, raising an eyebrow.

Pronger gave them a devilish smirk and leaned toward them to say, “I guarantee it. I know it will. Trust me. Go ahead, try it out, if I’m wrong, forget I was ever here, but if it works...you’re welcome.”

Pronger walked back out of the room, brushing by Patrick Kane. The blond Blackhawk looked at him and then saw the intruder turn around and look at him, smirking sinisterly. The winger for Chicago cocked his head, wrinkled his nose a little bit and turned back to Jonathan. The brunette hugged him close, patting his shoulder.

Pronger cackled. “That’s right, continue talking to your precious best friend, because soon you’ll be mine! Soon I’ll teach you not to destroy my career and my reputation with a game-winning goal!” He disappeared into the hall and dropped the pad down at his feet. Then he stepped on the pad.

As he vanished, he could look in a spot Adam stop Antti Niemi, while Sharp grabbed Jonathan and guided him toward the symbol. He disappeared on the pad in the blue lightning sparks, cackling wickedly.

The plan went through in the Blackhawks’ locker room, while Chris Pronger traveled through time. The villain finally reappeared on his time travel pad in an area of absolute black darkness. He walked forward and and came over to a black mirror. He grinned, as he looked in at his prisoner. He almost seemed like he knew what was going to happen and who was there.

“Yo, blondie.”

A few seconds later a face appeared, pale and full of worry, looking back at him through a pair of blue eyes. His blond hair was a mess on his head, like he hadn’t brushed it in a long time. “Pronger, let me out!! Where’s Jonny? What have you done to him?”

Pronger laughed. “That’s so typical of you to care so much for your precious centre! But...he’s with Landy now - in Colorado - Kanerboo. Why don’t you just enjoy solitary, little Stanley Cup stealer?”

“No! Let me out!” Patrick Kane banged on the glass, desperately. “Pronger, you can’t keep me trapped in here forever?!”

Pronger leaned forward and smirked at the blond. “Oh, I think I can. Now, I have to go check on the other trio of time travelers and your precious friend Jonny, who hates Chicago by the way!”

“PRONGER!!” Patrick screamed, punching his fist at the glass now, attempting to break it. “Leave Jonny alone!”

“You can punch and kick and scream and whatever, but you will never be able to succeed in breaking that glass and getting free. I’ve trapped you in time and only I can set you free...which I’m not going to! Ta-ta, blondie!” He turned on his heels and gave a half-wave back in the direction of the helpless blond Blackhawk.

“PRONGER!! NO!!” Patrick slumped against the glass, defeated.

(Too much Disney love songs, will make you want to have Patrick launch into a love song geared toward Jonny...but I know, no singing...not in this one.)

Chris Pronger laughed, as he watched Patrick slump against the glass in defeat. He vanished once more on the pad and disappeared from the darkness, leaving him alone again. The Flyer launched back through time and ended up back in the future, in Philadelphia. He walked into his own team’s locker room and happily put on his jersey with the stitched “C” symbol.

It was time for him to have some more fun.

And no one knew the truth about what was going on. Patrick Kane was his captive. Now and for forever.

Notes

IT'S.........PRONGER!!!!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
That's right, Pronger's gone after Kazer again. Everyone likes Pronger as the villain, so I thought, why not bring him back. And he's trapped poor Kaner!!!!
"It's okay. You can grab my hand, Jonny." XPPPP
This is why Pronger shouldn't be near Kaner...EVER!!

Next up: Trying to figure out what to do about the Blackhawks...and Kazer...

It's okay, it took time for me too :P That's how I pictured Sid like when I was in 8th grade (except less violent than your view of Sid), but now I picture him as a 4 year old stuck in a 27 year old's body! XDDDD

Yeah, yeah, my bad, I'm still getting the grasp of that. XP And yeah, but I think in my stories Evil Sid is the alter ego of Sid. But I love Evil Sid, cause he's a great villain, like Pronger and Rinaldo and Avery. ;)

It's bad-good, not good-evil character-- John is a bad-good character! Yes! John is exactly as sly as a fox! Perfect simile for him! :D And Evil Sid and Sid are two complete different people!

I feel like we both think of him like a good-evil. It's how I see Sid too. But with Sid its more Sid and then Evil Sid almost like an alter-ego thing, with Tavy though I think he's more sly...like a fox! Tavy's a fox!! :)

Okay, good! :)
Yes, it's better for John to save them! :D Geez, is it me or does John seem like the type of guy who would work behind the bad guys' back, tricking them, like in Mission how no one knew Tazer was staying with John?
