Save Me
Best friends again.
It had been a few days since the police station incident and Geno and I have yet to speak about it. The police hadn’t caught Oksana, I had heard that she went back to Russia, which was fine with me. I’d be fine if I never saw her again. A few of the boys and I were planning on going out to one of the clubs tonight for a little bit. I didn’t really feel like going to the club but I wasn’t about to turn down an opportunity to spend quality time with my boys. As far as I knew, Geno wasn’t going to be there and I didn’t know whether I was happy or upset about it, maybe it was a mixture of both? I slipped my silver sparkly heels on my feet and looked myself over in the mirror for at least the twentieth time. James had texted me a few minutes ago saying he was on his way to pick me up, so he should be here any minute now. I was almost to the bottom of the stairs when Sidney’s front door opened and a very attractive looking James Neal walked through it.
“Keeley!” He called not noticing my presence. I took a step closer to him, the clicking of my heels giving away my location. He turned his body in my direction. “Holy cow! You look absolutely gorgeous, Keels. Looks like Sid and I will be fighting boys all night.” He laughed leading me out to the car.
“James, whose car is this?” I asked running my fingers over the impossibly clean white Bentley that was parked in front of Sid’s house.
“It’s mine.” He said opening the passenger side door and helping me inside. I didn’t ask him anything else about the car. He played some country station on the radio as we drove through the busy streets of Pittsburgh. James parked in the back parking lot of the club and once again helped me out of the car. The bouncer quickly let the two of us in through the back door. I grabbed a hold of James’ hand as he led the way up to the VIP area where some of the team was waiting for us.
Sidney handed us a small shot glass filled with a clear liquid, I was a little confused at first but I realized why he handed me a shot of Vodka when I saw Geno sitting sipping on a beer in the back corner of the lounge. He hadn’t seen me, I moved so that James was blocking my view of him and I quickly swallowed the liquid, gladly accepting the burn that my throat was now feeling.
“You look beautiful tonight.” Sidney whispered in my ear, taking the shot glass out of my hand. I gave him a small smile before I told him that I was going to go dance. I descended down the stairs onto the dance floor. I grinded my body to the beat of the music, against a random male who was clearly enjoying it. He slowly lowered his hands from my hips down to my ass and I placed them back on my hips each time. I’d had enough by the time he started sucking on my neck. I shoved him away but he kept coming right back, by the third time I tried to walk away and that’s when the scumbag grabbed ahold of my arm. I turned so that I could see him better and noticed Geno coming quite quickly over towards me. Geno tapped the creep on the shoulder and shoved him away from me. The guy stumbled backwards and sized Geno up before making the wise decision to walk away. Geno grabbed ahold of my hand and led me outside into the chilly night air. We walked for a few minutes before Geno shoved me against the wall and placed his lips on mine.
“He no touch you. You mine.” Geno growled into my ear. I attached my lips back on Geno’s as he ran his fingers through my hair. As much as I was loving having his lips on mine I knew he couldn’t afford getting caught by a fan or even the press.
“Let’s go to your place.” I whispered in his ear. I took him by the hand and took him to the parking lot. It wasn’t difficult to find his car, he quickly drove through the streets to his house. I was glad he chose his house and not Sidney’s. That wouldn’t be fun to explain.
Geno and I were barely through the door before all of our clothes were off and thrown throughout the house. Geno picked me up and set me down on the counter before he attached his lips on to my neck, I arched my back and pulled lightly on his hair.
“I want you right now Evgeni.” I moaned. He moved so that he was standing in between my legs and made quick work of the black and gold lace thong that I was wearing.
“Those my favorite.” He mumbled looking a bit sad.
“I can get more.” I informed him before I felt his fingers enter me. “I want you inside of me.” I moaned nipping at his neck.
I woke up in a bed with a man’s arm wrapped around my stomach. I didn’t remember getting in the bed. I didn’t remember much after I got to the club with James actually. I groaned lightly before turning to look at the clock, noticing that it was almost eight in the morning. When I turned towards the man I realized that it was Geno. I felt the uneasiness that I was feeling moments ago fade away. I lifted his arm off of me and gently crawled out of bed, making sure I didn’t wake him. I tiptoed into the bathroom and grabbed a towel off the rack, wrapping it around myself. I finally found the dress I wore last night laying on the bottom of the stairs. It didn’t look like anyone had come over so I quickly put the dress on and threw the towel into the hamper of dirty clothes. After grabbing my clutch and the heels I wore the night before I called a cab and waited for him to take me home.
When I walked through the front door of Sidney’s house I wasn’t expecting him and James to be sitting on the couch watching SportsCenter and waiting for me.
“Where have you been?” Sidney asked hugging me tightly. “You just disappeared on us, and didn’t answer our messages.” James added kissing my cheek.
“Geno and I decided to leave early.” I said with a small smile. James and Sidney gave each other a look and rolled their eyes.
“Next time let a big brother know.” Sid laughed. “There’s some eggs and bacon on the counter if you want it.” James added before they both sat back down on the couch and turned all of their attention back to SportsCenter. I decided I wasn’t in the mood for food, all I wanted was a shower, clean clothes and a long nap. I climbed the stairs up to Sidney’s room and started the water in his giant bathtub. I added my peach and vanilla scented bubble bath to the hot water and lit a few candles I found under his sink. I figured they must have been left over from his ex-girlfriend. Come to think about it Sid hasn’t had anyone romantically involved in his life since Kathy. I never liked her, turns out our feelings were mutual. She didn’t like how much time I spent with Sid. She constantly complained that he never spent any time with her or did anything for her. The final straw came when she told him he had to choose between her and I. He chose me and that was the end of their relationship. Sidney deserved a good girl in his life and I was going to find him one.
In the next few weeks I spent all of my time outside of work trying to find someone special for Sid. I had enlisted the help of Vero about a week after I had come up with the idea.
“You know, you really should focus on yourself for a while Keels. You’ve been sick for a week now.” Vero said as she handed me a bottle of Gatorade. She was right, I had been so busy between getting caught up with work, cleaning up after the boys and trying to find someone good enough for my Sidney. “When is the last time you ate?” Vero asked as I took a small sip of the drink.
“I can’t keep anything down. I’ve had a fourth of a bottle of Gatorade and some water but that’s it.” I said as I sat down in the seat next to her as we watched the boys practice.
“You look terrible. I’m not the only one who has noticed either.” She whispered. I could always count on V to tell me the truth even if I didn’t want to hear it. She was right though, Sidney and James were taking advantage of every opportunity that they had to look over at us. “Just promise me that you’ll go to the doctor if you don’t feel better by Monday.” V said squeezing my hand lightly. I rolled my eyes but promised her anyways. We spent the rest of practice going through possible candidates for Sid.
“I’ll see you after the game tomorrow V.” I called as her and Marc- Andre walked down the hall and into the parking garage. She gave me a smile and a wave before they both disappeared through the door. I turned around and smacked right into what felt like a brick wall. I bounced back and fell on my butt. I let out a slight groan before the man helped me up.
“I sorry. I no mean.” Geno said. “You okay? Hurt? Get doc?” He was talking so fast and trying to make sure I was okay.
“G, I’m fine. I have enough padding on this thing that I barely felt it.” I joked.
“You no look fine. You pale and too skinny. I call Mama, she come fix you up.” He said pulling out his phone. I quickly grabbed it out of his hands before he could find Mama Malkin in his contacts. If he called her then I knew I would be in trouble. She had always been fond of me and I had no doubts that she would actually hop on the next flight to Pittsburgh to take care of me if she knew I was sick.
“No. You don’t need to call Mama. I’m fine.” I scolded him before I felt that nauseous feeling once again. I ran right past Geno and into the closest bathroom. I was so focused on just getting there in time that I didn’t even realize Geno was following me until I felt him grab ahold of my hair and hold it out of my face. When I was pretty confident that I wouldn’t get sick any longer I turned towards him. His face showed nothing but concern.
“You no fine. You come home with me and I take care.” He stated in a stern manner. When he used that tone, I knew there was no avoiding it. He helped me up off the floor and out of the bathroom.
“I need to get my bag.” I said. Geno nodded his head and sat me down on the couch in the lounge before he disappeared into the locker room.He came back a few minutes later with both of our bags in hand. Geno grabbed my hand and helped me off the couch and out into the parking garage.
Geno led me into the house showing me where the bathrooms were that were on both floors of the house, not that I needed reminding since I had been here so many times before. Geno set my bag down on his dresser and pointed to the other side of the bed.
“Sit.” He ordered. I watched as he pulled out one of his t-shirts and handed it to me. I slipped it on over my tank top and pulled my work pants off. Geno brought a glass of water over to the night stand next to me. I laid down on the bed and called his name before he had the chance to leave.
“G, please lay with me. I don’t want to be alone.” I whined. I watched him sigh.
“I be in soon. I fix you some Borscht, not nearly as good as Mama’s though.” He winked and walked out the door.
Geno came back in the room a few hours later with a bowl of Borscht in one hand and some more water in the other.
“Here.” He said handing it to me. I ate as he laid down in the bed next to me, gently rubbing my legs and feet.
The boys had played one hell of a game against the Rangers. Marc-Andre ended up getting his fourth shutout of the season and Sidney and Geno scored two out of three goals. When I met up with Vero down in the lounge outside of the locker room she all but jumped in my arms.
“Keeley! Did you see my man out there?!” I laughed and continued to listen to her talk about how well Marc played. We continued to chat for a few more minutes.
“So Keeley, did I tell you that Marc and I are trying for our first baby?” The smile on Vero’s face was almost contagious. Almost. The mention of the word baby made me come to the quick realization that I was late. Two weeks late to be exact. I wished V good luck before slipping back into my office, using the excuse that I forgot I had some paperwork to finish before the coach left for the night. I sent Sid a quick text letting him know that I didn’t feel like going out with the boys and that I hoped he had a good night out.
I was able to slip out without being seen by anyone. I quickly started my car and drove to the closest drug store. I entered Sid’s house nearly tripping over my own feet as I attempted to race up the steps and into the bathroom. Waiting for the results of the tests was agonizing. I kept thinking back to when I was in the same situation with Kaner. I shuddered at the thought and tried to calm my nerves. I jumped when the timer that I had set on my phone went off. I stood and stared at the tests on the counter. I took a deep breath and took tiny steps until I reached my destination. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the results. I threw all of the tests into the plastic bag and ran into my room. I could barely see due to the tears that were threatening to fall. I grabbed items out of my dresser and closet not even knowing what all I was grabbing. I was down the stairs and back on the streets of Pittsburg once again. My radio was up loud enough so that I couldn’t hear myself think or hear the constant buzz that my phone was doing from the floorboard of the car.
Seven hours later I finally arrived at my destination. I didn’t bother brining my bag with me. I climbed the familiar stairs up to the condo that I had been too many times before. I knocked and waited for the familiar body that I needed more than anything to answer.
“Keels, what are you doing here?” He asked as I collapsed into his arms releasing a sob.
I can't wait to read more! I love what you have so far!!!
