Save Me

I pushed the covers off of me and sat Indian style on my bed. I put my messy hair in a bun and stretched my arms out. I noticed a light flashing on my phone and picked it up. I had at least one text, I unlocked the phone and saw it was from Geno.
“Goodnight. Plan tomorrow?” He asked.
I smiled and quickly responded with “Good morning sunshine!” I put the phone in his hoodie pocket and made my way into the bathroom turning on my IPod in the process. The sound of Mike Stud’s Batter Up soon filled my apartment. I washed my face and brushed my teeth while I danced along. I felt my phone vibrate and sure enough I had a text.
“You no text Sunshine.” I laughed at the fact that he didn’t get it.
“I didn’t want to text Beau, silly. What do you want to do today? I’m free all day.” I quickly responded and decided to go and get dressed. I decided to go with a pair of jeans with my black Penguins sweatshirt with “Property of Penguins Hockey” and 71 on the front, with Geno’s last name and number on the back. I grabbed my pens uggs, sliding them on. I took my hair out of the bun and ran my fingers through it. Thankfully it was still straight. I applied a little bit on makeup and checked my phone again.
“It surprise. I come get you.” I sighed and told him that I’d meet him at his house in about twenty. I moved the bookcase back to the living room and headed to my car.
“Geno! I’m here.” I called walking into his house and slipping my shoes off. I heard him say something from upstairs so I decided to go and sit on the couch. He came down a few minutes later. He had on a pair of jeans with a black button up and a beanie. He looked hot, my breath caught in my throat.
“Ready?” He asked. I nodded and followed him to the door. We put our shoes on in silence. “Where are we going?” I asked getting into his car. He closed my door and walked around getting into the driver’s side.“No tell it’s surprise!” I laughed as my stomach growled. I grabbed one of the CD’s out of his holder and turned the music up a bit. I heard him laugh once he realized that I had chosen one of his Russian CD’s. We drove for a while before we pulled into a diner outside of the city. He came over and opened the door for me helping me out of his SUV. He held the door for me when we entered the restaurant as well. I followed him as our waitress led us to the table. She placed our menu’s down and said she’d be back in a few minutes.
“What are you going to get?” I asked looking up over my menu at the gorgeous man in front of me.
“I get bacon, eggs, browns, and toast. Chocolate milk too.” He smiled placing his menu back on the table.
“That sounds pretty good. I think I’m going to get a ham and cheese omelet with toast and apple juice.” I placed my menu on top of his as the waitress came back. I told her both of our orders, since G wasn’t very comfortable talking to people that he didn’t know that well. His English was getting a lot better but it still made him self-conscious at times.
“So. G, are you going to tell me where we’re going?” He shook his head no and I groaned. “Pretty please with sugar on top?” I begged but he wasn’t letting up. “You’re no fun!” I said pressing the ignore button on my phone for the third time since I had met up with Geno. It didn’t take long before the waitress came back with our food and drinks.
“Oh my god. This omelet is huge! There’s no way that I can eat it all.” I said cutting it in half. I put half of it on Geno’s plate and smiled as he gave me a fake glare. Breakfast went by and the waitress brought the check to us. I tried to grab it but Geno had it in his hands and was pulling out his credit card before I could take it from her.
“Geno, it’s my turn to pay! Hand it over.” I said getting out of the booth and following him to the register. He wouldn’t give it to me. Instead he put it over his head. I tried to jump to reach it but I was too short.
“Ugh! Why do you have to be so tall?” I questioned.
“Why so short?” He whispered in my ear making me shiver. He smiled at my reaction causing me to blush. He handed the bill and his card to the employee.
“You two are such a cute couple.” She said handing the card and receipt back to him. I blushed and he thanked her.
The ride to wherever we were going was pretty much quiet. The only sounds were from my phone vibrating and the cars around us.
“You answer?” He asked after what seemed like the four hundredth phone call.
“No. It’s not important.” He smiled and took my hand in his. We drove for a little bit longer until we pulled up at the zoo.
“Seriously? The Zoo?” I asked a little bit more excited than I had intended. Geno shook his head yes and helped me out of the car. We paid our admission fee, well more like Geno did, even though I complained and tried to pay. We spent a few hours going through all of the enclosures and talking pictures. I think we got an even number of pictures between the ones of the animals and the ones that G and I took together.
“Ready for surprise?” He asked as he gave me a piggy back ride.
“Another one?! G you’ve done enough for me already!” I exclaimed but he just laughed. I laid my head on his shoulder and watched as we walked towards the aquarium. We were met by one of the employees as soon as we walked in the door.
“You must be Mr. Malkin and Miss. Cooke.” The man said shaking G’s hand. “If you want to follow me, I’ll show you the way.” I got off of Geno’s back and grabbed his hand staying as close as I could to him as we walked through the cold dark hallways. I could hear the sound of water in the distance. We walked for about a hundred more feet before a door opened and we were ushered inside.
“Penguins?!” I asked almost jumping up and down. Geno laughed and placed his hands on my shoulders, keeping me on the ground.
“Would you like to feed one of the babies?” One of the female employees asked. I shook my head yes as she handed me the cutest little ball of fluff.
“This is Brooks.” I gave her a confused look, “Like Orpik?” I questioned. She shook her head yes.
“We have a group that are named after all of the penguins.” She said smiling at Geno. She grabbed his arm and showed him where the penguin named after him was.
“He may be cuter than you, babe.” I said kissing his cheek. He laughed and wrapped his arm around me.
“Jealous?” He asked whispering in my ear. I shook my head no. “The last thing you need is a puck slut.” I whispered back. I was extremely jealous, but he didn’t have to know that. Throughout the whole experience the girl whose name I learned was Candy, continued to give G googley eyes and touched him whenever she could. After a few hours we were getting tired and hungry so we decided to get some lunch. We thanked all of the employees and I saw Candy slip something to G. Jesus, what was it with girls named Candy? Did they all chase after hockey players? I mean first it was Kaner and now it was Geno. He grabbed my hand and we walked back to the car.
“So, did she slip you her number?” I asked putting my seatbelt on.
“You jealous.” He said leaving the parking lot. “I throw away before we leave. There one girl I want.” He said pulling into the parking lot of my favorite Mexican restaurant.
***Geno’s point of view***
“You may have to carry me to the car.” She laughed rubbing her stomach. “I won’t be able to ear for at least a week after this.” We both laughed at that statement. I paid the bill and walked to the car with Keeley by my side. It felt right spending the day with her. I loved how jealous she got when the zoo employee flirted and slipped her number to me. She acted like she liked me, but with Keeley it was hard to tell for sure. I hoped like hell she did though. I opened the door and helped her inside before I get into the driver’s seat.
“Want watch movie at home?” I asked as she played with the radio. It was only five so I hoped she would say yes. I wanted to spend as much time with her before she went home to Justin as I could. There was something about him that I didn’t like. I couldn’t put my finger on it yet but he just gave me a bad feeling.
“I’d love too. Can I pick? Pretty pretty pretty please?” She pouted sticking her lip out and giving me puppy dog eyes. I couldn’t say no.
“Of course.” I smiled and stared to sing along to the song that was softly playing in the background. I felt Keeley’s eyes on me.
“What?” I asked looking at her then back at the road.
“I like when you speak Russian. I don’t have a clue what you’re saying but I like it.” She giggled.
“Я люблю тебя Кили Николь Кук. Я хочу, чтобы ты была моей. Я ничего не хочу больше, чем это.” (I love you Keeley Nichole Cooke. I wish you were mine. I want nothing more.) I said and watched as she giggled. If she only knew.
We pulled into my drive and I noticed a few other cars other than Keeley’s. I knew one belonged to Sid. I wasn’t sure about the others. I sighed and helped Keeley out. We walked side by side into the house, taking our shoes off at the same time.
“Sid!” I yelled. I heard some laughing and the TV in the living room.
“Where ya been bro?” James asked. Once he saw Keeley he winked at me. I had never wanted to shove someone out of my house more than I did right now.
“Why here? We watch movie.” I asked James as he hugged Keels.
“We can all watch a movie together.” He suggested and Keeley agreed. As much as I didn’t want the idiots at my place I knew it would upset her if I kicked them out.
“We’re watching Never Back Down 2.” She said sitting in between Sid and I on the couch. Keeley could definitely be one of the guys when she had to be. As the movie went on she laid her legs on Sid’s lap and laid her head on my chest.
“Comfy?” I asked playing with her hair.
“I am now.” She replied cuddling closer into my chest. James would give me suggestive looks from time to time as the movie went on, how Keels didn’t notice was beyond me. Once the movie ended it was close to eight at night. Keels got up off the couch and stretched out, her sweatshirt came up a little exposing a piece of her pale white skin.
“I should get going. I have an early morning. In fact I think we all do.” She laughed and kissed Sid, James and I on the cheek.
“I walk you out.” I said getting up off the couch quickly. She smiled and we walked to the front door. We slipped our shoes on and I opened the door into the cold Pittsburgh night air. I opened her car door and leaned against it.
“I had fun today. I missed hanging out with you. Thank you for everything.” She said kissing my cheek and giving me a hug. Then she got into her car and drove off. I sighed and walked back into the house.
“So have you slept with her yet? Is she good in the sack?” James asked. I felt my hands clench by my sides. Sidney smacked him in the back of the head.
“Ouch! What was that for?” He asked rubbing the spot on his head. Sidney didn’t answer, he just gave him a glare.
“I need ask you something.” I said sitting next to him on the couch. He nodded and told me he was listening.
“Keeley’s birthday soon. I think I get her car. Too much?” I questioned.
“Keeley doesn’t like big expensive gifts.” Sid pointed out.
“She need car though. Hers old and break down.” Sidney laughed.
“I agree. I think she’d like it.” James added his input and agreed with Sidney.
“It settled. I get car.” I smiled. “She be proud new owner of black 2014 Bentley.”
“Those are like $100,000 cars!” James said as his eyes looked like they were about to pop out of his head.
“She worth it.” I said the smiling not being able to leave my face.
“Uh oh. Looks like our boy has it bad.” Sidney chirped.
