Prove Me Wrong.

Frat House.

'Kieran's POV'

"Ohh, Yeah girl you hot, who are you?"

Uhh, I groaned as the loud rap music (none other than the always annoying Mike Stud) and yelling poured through the walls from my neighbor's apartment into mine. I ran my fingers through my messy red hair, thinking it's one thing to party on the weekend, but on a freaking Thursday night? Trust me when I say I am not a party pooper, I'm 24 after all and I know all about "Thirsty Thursday" but couldn't they at least party at a bar? Well apparently not, because my closet frat boy of a neighbor thought it was okay to throw a "rager" any day of the week. It was almost midnight when I decided that enough was enough, some of us have real jobs.

I slammed my equine cardiac health book shut, and I got off of my couch. Quickly shoving my feet into a pair of black Vans I stormed into the hallway slamming the door to apartment in the process. Before knocking I assessed my outfit, red Nike running shorts and a Texas A&M long sleeve t-shirt, my red hair fell in wavy mess at my shoulders. Hopefully Tyler answered the door and not one of his teammates or whoever was in there partying, I was not prepared to meet one of them in this outfit. Oh yeah, did I mention my super loud neighbor is Tyler Seguin? Lucky me.

"Seguin," I yelled as I slammed my fists against the hard wooden door, "Open this damn door Tyler." I could hear footsteps as I continued to pound on the door. When it opened I was disappointed to not see Tyler's dorky face in front of me, instead in front of me stood a tall guy with black hair who I assumed to be one of his teammates. I ran my fingers through my messy hair before talking and looking into his dark eyes, "Umm, sorry but can you grab Tyler for me please?" He smiled and nodded before turning and yelling into the apartment "Hey Segs, there's a girl out here for you."

The man turned back to me and reached out his hand, "I'm Jamie by the way, you must be Segs neighbor?" I nodded, "Yeah unfortunately," I said with a laugh, "and my name's Kieran by the way." I shook his large hand gently, Tyler appeared in the entryway a few seconds later, as soon as he looked at me he knew I wasn't happy with him.

"Hey Kier," he dragged out. I smirked at the idiot in front of me, "Don't Kier me Tyler. Can you please keep it down over here? I have a surgery at 8 and I'm trying to memorize the heart functions of a god damn horse," I was cut off with laughter, looking over to the two guys I raised my eyebrows, "What's funny about trying to save an animal Seguin? And uhh.. Benn right?" Jamie nodded, "Nothings funny about it, it's just I wouldn’t have guessed you were a vet." I smiled, "There's a lot you wouldn’t guess about me, right Ty." He agreed and promised to keep it down, I thanked him and said goodbye to both Tyler and Jamie before leaving the apartment. As I walked back across the hallway I realized that was the first time I had met one of Tyler's teammates and it was almost October. That kid drove me nuts sometimes but he was a good friend to me and for the most part understood that school was really important to me, little did I realize just how separate we kept our work from each other.

I guess before I tell you anymore of this story I should let you in on who I am right? In all honesty, I am no one special, just a dorky red head with a professional athlete for a neighbor who's just trying to graduate Vet school. I'm in my last year of Veterinary Medicine school at Texas A&M, and I moved into my Dallas apartment over the summer for my externship at a vets office here in the city, and I just so happened to get the apartment next door to Dallas' newest hockey star.

When I moved in back in late July Tyler was new to the city having just been traded to the Stars. I however grew up here in the suburbs of Dallas, well I was actually born in Dublin, Ireland but I lived in Dallas from about 9-18. Tyler and I became friends quickly after meeting, other than his teammates I was one of his only friends in Texas. I knew hockey was his life and he understood that school came first for me, we were nothing but friends. Except for that one time we got really drunk and made out, but that was a mistake and we both agreed not to let it ruin our friendship. After all Ty's not really my type, I'm not really into the party boy type I had enough of that while I was at A&M. Going to school with Jonny Football will do that to you, I had had enough of fuckboys and athletes. Or so I thought.

'Jamie's POV'

Tyler shut the door slowly as Kieran walked back across the hallway, I couldn’t help but notice how hot she was for a red head. Her skin wasn’t super pale and her accent was weird but cute, like southern mixed with something else, and she was tall like really tall for a girl. Not to mention she definitely had the spitfire attitude that they say all red heads come with, after all she wasn’t putting up with any of Tyler's shit.

As we walked back into the apartment Tyler turned the music down as I grabbed a beer from the fridge. When the music died down a few of the guys sitting in the living room complained, "Dude, what the hell?" asked Cody Eakin as he fumbled with the Xbox controller in his hand. Tyler laughed and held up his hands in defense, "Sorry dude, my neighbors a med student and she's trying to study. Don’t want to piss her off." Eakin smirked at Tyler, "You're fucking your neighbor aren't you?" Tyler's face turned red anger, "No dude, she's one of my only friends here outside of you guys. She's awesome, watches Marshall when I'm gone." Cody countered, "So that means she's ugly?" I walked over and sat down next to the ginger on the couch, "No dude, she's actually really hot." I said taking a sip from my bottle.

Tyler laughed from his place in the kitchen, "I knew you were checking her out Benny" he said, "Too bad she's sworn off athletes." My face scrunched up in confusion, why would she swear off athletes? Aren't they supposed to be irresistible to women? Standing from the couch I walked towards the kitchen, "What do you mean she's sworn off athletes?" I asked leaning against the counter, Tyler shrugged his shoulders, "Well she wasn’t interested in me and I know she had a thing with a football player at A&M that didn’t end well, so I think she's just not into the type anymore." I laughed at the conceited kid in front of me, "Dude, not every girl is going to fall for you. Some are smart enough to say no to that face." Tyler dropped his jaw and smirked, "Whatever captain, I know Kieran and she's stubborn. You really don’t want to mess with her. Besides graduating is all she's worried about right now." I took a drink of the beer in front of me, "I like a challenge."
