Prove Me Wrong.

Just before Thanksgiving the Stars played 5 home games in a row, which meant I was spending a ridiculous amount of time at AAC. Some nights I sat in the WAGs box as neither a wife or a girlfriend, though some of the girls weren't sold that Tyler and I weren't together. If only they knew I had my eye on #14 instead.

With a lot of begging and pleading my brother Kilian convinced me to take him with me to the game on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. For the special occasion Tyler got me two glass seats, he knew being at the glass scared me but said Kilian would like it. Kilian being an ex-athlete himself took all professional sports seriously and was intrigued with everything about hockey. Living in Dallas for part of our lives we had gone to a our share of Stars games, next to football and baseball, hockey was Kilian's favorite sport.

Throughout warmups Jamie and Tyler hung out right in front of our seats, shooting pucks at the boards and being dorks as usual. Both of them shooting me silly faces and slamming into the glass to scare me. With their actions, Kilian was not convinced that I wasn't messing around with one of them. "Yeah Kier, you sure nothing's going on between you and your neighbor?" Setting Kilian straight that Tyler and I were nothing was easy, he knew why I didn’t want another guy like Tyler.

Selling him on Jamie was impossible, every time he said something about Jamie staring at me my face would heat up and I would shove him, I'm sure by the end of the game he had a bruise. By the end of the night I was also sure that Kilian knew what was happening between me and #14. The game went great for my two favorite players, Tyler scored two goals and Jamie picked up the 3rd winning the game over the Oilers. And If it wasn’t already clear to Kilian it was after Jamie scored, I had cheered way louder for him than I had Tyler, banging on the glass and smiling like an idiot.

Following the game I dragged Kilian to the family lounge so he could meet Jamie and Tyler before Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. In the lounge I introduced Kilian to some of the WAGs, they all thought we were twins. I guess it's true that all gingers look alike? Eventually Tyler and Jamie trickled in as I was talking to Jordie's girlfriend Jess.

Jamie decided to scare the shit out of me by wrapping his arms around my waist and picking me up off the ground, letting out a small shriek as I tried to wiggle out of his grasp. When he sat me down Kilian shot me a look that clearly said, "Yeah, sure there's nothing going on there." The guys hit it off with my brother and I knew they would have plenty to talk about on Thursday.
Tyler and Kilian were talking about his goals when I started talking or rather flirting with Jamie.

He was leaning against the wall on his phone when I came up to him, "Nice goal Cap" I said giving him a hug, he pulled away with a smirk on his face, my arms still around his neck. "Thanks, I try" he responded with a cocky shrug. I poked him in the chest, "Don’t act like Ty, Jame" he grabbed my wrist quickly, "I am nothing like Tyler, or that asshole whose name you still won't tell me," I looked down at my shoes avoiding is dark eyes and swallowed hard, processing the words he had just spoken. Jamie let go of my hand and I felt a rough finger tilt my chin up, my blue eyes locked with his dark brown pair, his voice at a husky whisper "and you know it, I won't hurt you Kieran." My heart was racing and I didn’t know what to say, my mouth was dry and hanging slightly open. I was thankful that Tyler and Kilian had picked this moment to wander over to us.

Taking a step back from Jamie I turned to meet my brother's gaze, "Hey Kier, you uh ready? I gotta get to the parent's house before they lock me out." That got a chuckle out of everyone, I gave a forced smile to my dorky older brother, "Yeah, I'm ready. Night Ty, Jame I'll see you guys later." They both waved me off and Jamie looked like he was about to pass out, he had to be feeling just as conflicted as me. Not 5 steps down the hallway Kilian slung his arm around my shoulders, "So, what was that?" he asked. I took a deep breath as a I walked, "To tell you the truth, I'm not sure, but I think Jamie just told me he wants to be with me." Kilian nodded, "Yeah, Kier I think he definitely does." I smiled to myself on the drive home, my head spinning and my heart fluttering; maybe it was time to let Jamie in.

After Kilian left for our parent's house out in the suburbs I sat at in my kitchen in my pajamas with a bowl of Fruit Loops. I was chasing a few of colorful loops around in the bowl when my door opened, Tyler walked in still in his game day suit. He stood across from me leaning down on the island, "So, what the hell was that?!" Not knowing what to say I shook my head and ran my fingers through my wet hair. "I don't know Ty,"

I looked up to see Tyler's face looking concerned "You guys should talk about it before Thursday.." I nodded, "He needs to know why I'm.." I stopped, and bit my lip "Why I'm so blocked off." Tyler walked over and wrapped an arm around my shoulders, "Let him in Kier, I know what he said and you know it's the truth. He's not going to hurt you like Ryan." At the mention of his name I shuddered, Tyler kissed the top of my head "You're strong now Kier, don't let him hold you back anymore." I smiled and got out of my chair, wrapping my arms around Tyler's waist "Thanks for being my best friend Ty." I said into his chest, I felt the vibrations of a laugh rumble through his chest "Always Kieran."

Climbing into bed that night I had one last thing to do, I grabbed my iPhone from the bedside table and opened a new message.

To: Jamie *We need to talk.*

I typed and hit send. Turning off the light I drifted off to sleep, tomorrow I was going to tell Jamie about the walls around my heart. Or better yet, the walls that used to be around my heart, by this point he had knocked them all down.
