Prove Me Wrong.

Summer Lovin'

Summer itself flew on by, between my new job and Knox I had plenty to keep me busy back in Dallas as well as the quick trips I took to see Jamie. In mid-June I made the trip to the NHL Awards and spent a well needed 48 hours with Jamie in Sin City. It was a blast and I learned quickly that the hockey world sure knows how to party! After our time in Las Vegas Jamie and I spent another dreadful month apart before he flew in to celebrate the Fourth of July with my family. Even though only my mom is the only "true American" in the O'Reilly clan we still celebrate pretty hard at our lake house. Kilian came home from Houston as well and Jamie flew in so it was a perfect weekend full of fireworks, family, wake boarding, and plenty of celebrating 'Merica. After seeing each other for only a few days at a time Jamie and I were getting used to making our time together meaningful.

With my new job came a limited amount of vacation days for the first 6 months so I wasn't able to take much time off making my travel schedule very restricted. For Jamie's birthday in late July, I took off Friday from work and flew into Vancouver late Thursday night and flew back to Dallas Sunday afternoon.

Each time I traveled the people at work would say they were jealous, or that they didn’t understand why I was making so many small trips to such random places. But once I told them why it all made sense. When I clued everyone in on my relationship status things got a little crazy around the office. In fact my new co-workers are still having trouble grasping that I'm Jamie Benn's girlfriend. Some of them were actually embarrassed to say that they followed me on Instagram and Twitter. It was strange but also kinda cool. Now they're all just waiting for him to show up at the office, which I'm sure will happen eventually, we do have a dog now!

When I visited Canada Jamie and I spent all of the 72 hours we had together sightseeing and catching up. He showed me his parent's house and the places where he had played baseball and hockey growing up. It was nice to see this side of Jamie, what made him into the man I fell in love with. I got to meet some of his friends back home one night when we went out, a few of the guys were actually his cousins but he considered them to be his best friends too. Oh and speaking of houses, I should probably tell you all about seeing Jamie's Canadian house for the first time because it shocked me and it leads me to some pretty big news.

*Flashback to Canada*

When I landed in Canada Jamie was waiting for me in the airport, as always he picked me up and spun me around kissing me before setting me back down on the ground. Your typical airport reunion, at this point in our long distance relationship Jamie and have become the cliché romantic comedy. After lunch Jamie took me to see his house for the first time, I'm expecting a bachelor pad but I am pleasantly surprised when he pulls in the driveway. The house in front of me is very family oriented, with a big front yard and a front porch, the exterior is made of brick and stone and it's gorgeous. This house is not as big as the house in Dallas but for the amount of time he spends here it's more than sufficient.

"What do you think?" Jamie asked as he grabs my bags, I stand next to the car taking in the view. "It's gorgeous, not what I expected at all." He leads me inside and the interior is even more breathtaking, it's manly but not too much it's modern but simple at the same time. This house was perfect. "Wow." I let out while looking around, following Jamie through the house and into the master bedroom where he drops my bags.

"I take it you like it?" he questions wrapping his arms around my waist pulling me towards the large bed. I nod as I fall into his lap looking around the large room, "Uh huh, can we live here instead?" I ask and when those words pop out of my mouth I know I've opened the can of worms. I cringe a bit knowing we have to talk about it now but the smile on Jamie's face tells me he's glad I slipped up. "We can't live here all the time," Jamie say's emphasizing the we, "But we can live in the house in Dallas, together." I turn my body around so I can look at him, wrapping my legs around his waist, and from the look on his face I can tell he's very serious about what he's just said.

We've dropped small hints over the past few months to each other, but this is the first real discussion we've had about me moving in. Personally I think that we're ready and Knox really needs to live in a house with a yard. "Are you serious?" I ask just to clarify and he smiles and nods. "Of course babe, we're always at either my place or yours and it just makes sense." He grabs my left hand running his finger over the sparkly knot shaped ring, "I promised you we're going to be together forever, this is the next step."

Wow, I think to myself, this is really happening! "Oh, um Okay, yeah I think so too." I stutter out, "Plus Knoxers needs a yard to run around in, he kinda hates the apartment." Jamie grins and kisses me, "Perfect, I'll come down after you get your lease straightened out and we'll move you guys in." Grabbing Jamie's face I kiss him again, "I love you J," his lips are still hovering over mine "and I love you K."

*End flashback*

That talk was basically the highlight of my trip to Canada, we celebrated Jamie's actual birthday by going to dinner with his family and close friends and the next day I flew home. As soon as I landed in Dallas I got to work with ending my lease and putting the apartment up on the market. I thought I would be sad about leaving my place that had so many memories, but it wasn’t so bad after Tyler told me he had bought a house and was moving out anyway. We were all growing up, and moving on to bigger and better places.

It took a couple weeks to get everything straightened out with my landlord but he easily found a new tenant and I was free to go. July was winding down and with mine and Tyler's move (to a house just a block from Jamie's) my two favorite boys came home to Dallas early. Between my parents, Tyler, Jamie and I we cleared out my apartment all in one day! We moved all of the furniture from my place into a storage unit for now while all of my necessities traveled across town into Jamie's spacious house.

Thankfully I got my own closet, there was no way Jamie and I were going to be able to fit all of our clothes into one walk-in. We could both use a closet clean out! But can you truly ever have too much clothing?! I think not! After spending so much time at Jamie's in the past year it already felt like home once all my things were moved in. Not only did I feel at home at Jamie's but Knox took an immediate liking to his new digs. The backyard was perfect for him and we quickly found out that he's a fan of the water! This was going to be the perfect house for the 3 of us and for building our future together.
