I don’t think I will ever be in more pain than this ever again, especially after the surgery. With my mouth wired shut i could do little to slim things. Im sure Katie didn’t expect her winter break to consist of taking care of me a day before christmas eve with me leaving tomorrow to go to Victoria. I was allowed to play with my jaw wired but I decided to take a little more time off hoping that the pain would drift down and to spend some more time with Katie.

Katie plopped next to me on the couch “You need anything else?”

I could speak however it was extremely difficult so I just nodded “No”

“Thank you jesus” She smiled “Im sorry thats mean, i’m just so tired”

I moved closer to her allowing her head to fall into my lap. We just sat there watching Toys Story, as I played with her hair.

“Ya know Jamie” She blurted “I still need to get your christmas present. And sorry but this time it won’t be me”

I Sarcastically snapping my fingers mouthing “Damn it”

I have been meaning to ask Katie for awhile now, about coming to Victoria with me to meet my family and celebrate Christmas with us, I knew Christmas was going to be rough for her, with me leaving to go back home, Tyler once told me that every Christmas gets harder for her without her parents here to celebrate., I hoped this would make Christmas easier on her. Clearing my throat I began to speak “Come to victoria with me” I stuttered

Sitting up quickly facing me “Wait what” She uttered “You want me to go with you and Jordie to Victoria and meet your family”

“Yeah I really do” I managed to say

“Are-are you sure about this?” She smiled

I nodded as she kissed my cheek

“I need to call Meg, I’ll be right back” She ran off

KATIE POV

on the phone with megan

“Hey! Hows jamie?” She asked

“He is good, hey i have an important question” I mumbled

“If its about the red lingerie go for it” She laughed

“No thats not it” I admitted “Jamie wants me to with him to Victoria, would it be okay if i missed the annual Seguin christmas?”

“oh my god” Megan hollered “Yes it would one hundred percent okay! When would you be leaving?”

“Tomorrow” I sighed

“Shit wow, yeah but its totally okay!” She laughed “Mama will understand, dont worry. Are you meeting his parents?”

“I am” I argued “I am beyond nervous. what if they don’t like me?”

“Are you kidding me? God they’ll love you, I have yet to meet adults who dislike you. You are beyond sweet and caring for Jamie and I’m sure Mr. and Mrs. Benn will see that especially after Jamie breaking his jaw. What time are you leaving?”

“Uhh i believe in nine hours” I said puzzled looking at my watch “So three in the morning”

“Shit wow, i’ll let you pack” Megan beamed “Text me when you land. Love you!”

“Will do” I laughed “Love you too!”


JAMIE POV

The six hour flight wasn’t long but to Katie whose leg was shaking non stop, it was the longest flight. The flight consisted of Jordie and I reassuring her that the family would love her and that she had nothing to worry about, still her leg shook the rest of the flight Katie and I playing travel scrabble with me winning twice and her? four times.

“Katie relax” Jordie laughed as we walked down through the airport

“Im trying” Katie laughed grabbing for my hand “I can’t help it though. This is my first time meeting a boyfriend's parents. What if they don’t like me?”

“You’ll be fine I promise babe” I smiled “They will seriously love you. Maybe more than I love you which i doubt because I love you to the moon and back”

Jordie and I have a small house together in Victoria that we share together during the off season. The house had a golf course behind, it came in handy when the teammates flew in and they stayed with us. This home is what Jordie and I spent our first major paycheck on, we built this home ourselves. Okay not literally, however we spent the money to build this home it had a special place in my heart.

“Wow this a beautiful home” Katie beamed as we made our way into my house

“First pay check we spent it on this” Jordie chuckled “Jamie how the hell is the fridge stocked?”

“Uhh probably mom or dad” I shouted as I led Katie upstairs “This is our room” I revealed opening the double doors revealing a master bedroom

The bedroom walls are a stormy light grey with chestnut colored hardwood floors and a red area rug off the side of the right of the king sized and at the foot where a small red pillow sat upon. Off the side of the bed stood two light crimson printed chairs next to three windows that looked out on onto the golf course.

“That is such an amazing view” Katie smiled setting her bags down by the bed “God i am so happy I am here”

“I am beyond happy that you are here. Before you know it baby we will be back in Dallas and than Sochi where you will see me win Gold with Tyler” I whispered coming up behind her wrapping my arms around her small waist

“Tylers gonna be on the Olympic team?” Katie beamed “Oh my god I am so happy he made! Does he know?”

“Not yet, they’ll call him in a few days” I smiled “Well leave in two hours for dinner at parents okay?”

KATIE POV

Here I was, in the car about to meet Jamie's parents. I made sure to wear my very best outfit, a bright cherry colored dress with a beige sweater and nude heels holding tightly onto Jaime's hand gripping tighter the closer we got. I wish Jamie got to meet my parents, telling him stories of them wasn’t the same. They would of loved him they would love how he treated me they would of loved how on the ice he was a tough guy but off the ice he was a gentle giant. I wish they could’ve.

“Babe the harder you squeeze the more I lose blood going to that hand” Jamie teased softly

I’ve seen Jamie dress up many of times before games, but this time when I looked over to left and saw him sitting there laughing with Jordie in his red button up and grey slacks I felt as if I fell in love with him all over again. Here we are, the Benn house.
