“Ty” Jamie yawned “its time for practice”

“Ugh i don’t know man” I sat up “I’m not feeling so goo-” I jumped up darting for the bathroom for the toilet before throwing up

“Shit dude, stay home i’ll tell Kat youre home” Jamie sighed helping me up from the toilet flushing it

“Thanks chubbs” I yawned climbing into bed falling right to sleep. Man I was so grateful to have him, always helping me on an off the ice, I wish I was him he had everything; a beautiful girl in his bed, two bundles of joy coming any day now, and he is the captain of an insanely amazing team….Man I want his life

“TYLER” Katie yelled banging on the door, I jolted out bed opening the door seeing Katie standing there with her hand on her stomach as a pool of water surrounded her “I-I think my water broke”


“No shit really” I sarcastically laughed “Give me a minute” I yelled holding my own stomach as I threw on a pair of dirty clothes “c’mon lets go” I grabbed onto Katies hand as we made our way down the hall the fastest we could walk, because lets be real a pregnant ready to give birth lady and a throwing up guy shouldn’t be the ones walking fast. Helping her into the car I asked “Did you call Jamie?”

“I was freaking out and i didn’t, I dont even have my phone on me” Katie explained “Shit”

I started searching for my phone in my pockets coming to the conculsion I left it up in the apartment “I have his number memoried I’ll call him there, lets go”

I rushed Katie to the hospital, soon after we got there they took her in but as we entered the delivery room the doctors had to admit her for a C-section, which I wasn’t allowed in so I went back to the ER to the phone to try an call Jamie...again for the hundredth time.

*Hey you reached the voicemail of Jamie Benn, I can’t get to the phone right now leave a message and i’ll get back to you. Thanks* it rang before I left what could only be the 50th voicemail

“Jamie where the fuck are you, your girl is giving birth to your kids. Did coach hold you guys up or something?” I said looking at my watch, practice ended an hour ago “You really need to be here…” The phone dropped out of my hand as my eyes gazzed at the strecher they were rushing in, it was Jamie covered in blood and cuts

“Jamie” I yelled running along the strecher

“You know him sir?” A man who had to be my age asked

“Yes yes he is my room mate, his fiance is giving birth” I cried wiping the tears from my face

“I’m sorry sir, you have to leave” An older man askeed “We will call for you in a little bit please bear with us” I stopped and stood out as the rushed him past me, is my friend dead? is he okay? how did this happen? What about Katie? I wiped the tears from my scruffy face walking back to Katie who to my surprise was back in her room holding both babies in each arm smiling from ear to ear. I couldn’t tell her what I just saw, not now not when everything was perfect in her eyes I couldn’t break her at her happiest moment. “Still nothing” I breathed heavy

“Damn where the hell is he” Katie laughed “One boy and one girl, the perfect match right?” She kissed her daugher softly on her forehead before turning her head and kissing her son on the forehead head “This is all i could have ever asked for, this is my everything” She smiled

“Ca-Can I hold your daughter?” I stuttered reaching forward

Katie lifted the baby placing her gently in my arms, I stood there forgetting for moment what was going on two floors down. “Hey little girl” I whispered letting her wrap her little hand around my thumb “I’m your uncle Ty, you are so beautiful” tears flowling softly out of my eyes

A knock softly erupted behind us, turning around my heart stopped it was the ER doctor who was with Jamie. “Mr.Seguin, may I speak to you please” I nodded placing the baby into the arms of Katie who looked at me confused before he couldnt form the words out of his mouth I blurted “What happened to my best friend?” I could feel the tears falling down my cheeks

“He was driving on the highway when a truck lost control and hit into oncoming traffic, hitting a major majority of your friends vehicle, he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt and he shot out of the car” The man sighed “We tried everything but as of right now he is in ICU on life support, there is a slim chance of him making it overnight i’m sorry Mr.Seguin” I sat against the wall, I let my head fall into my hands as i cried.

I stood up wiping the tears “I have to tell his fiance, she needs to know. Will you wait out here please” He nodded, I took a deep breath in before entering her room

“Jeez I never knew you liked babies this much” Katie chuckled

“Its Jamie Kat” I choked up “He was hurt in an accident and he isn’t looking so good” her smile dropped and her eyes began to fill up with tears

“Where is he?” She stood up placing her babies in their cribs “WHERE IS MY FIANCE?” she cried falling into my arms “why me?” she cried into my chest
