Never Expected This

A onesie. I had to wear a christmas onesie . And to make things worst, Anna tied my hair up in two pingtails. People kept laughing at me, I felt like it was a harsh punishment. The last 3 hours I decided to talk with Alex because he was the only one that wasn't laughing at me. Everyone else would just laugh before I even said anything and it was getting annoying. I don't know if he didn't care or was making an enough to stay serious with me, but I didn't care. He was talking to me. By the time 7 came people had stoped talking about me being the "Lucky one" this year. I was glad it stopped but when Anna was saying the nominations, my name came up. So I was infront of everyone, in my onesie, looking like a 20 year old who doesn't want to grow up.

"And this years winner is..."She said taking a pause. Please don't be me. Please, oh please don't let it be me. "Isabelle!" She shouted. Great! They'll for sure remember me now. On my way to the kitchen, people kept saying congradualtion but I knew they weren't serious.I waited in line to grab my food. I wasn't in the mood to talk. I know it seems childish but I was getting sick of it.

"Hey." I heard someone say. I didn't need to turn around to know it was Brendan. Brendan, he's the reason why I'm in this situation. He purposely made his way up, grabbed a sweater from one of the guys. So he wouldn't be force to wear the onesie.

"What" I said still not looking at him. But heard him chuckle.
"You can't be seriously mad." He said. I place some mash potatoes on my plat
"Yes, I can." I said.
"Oh come on the guys are just playing with you." He said. That part I know, that part I can get over it.
"I'm not mad them." I said. I placed some meatballs on my plat.
"Oh so you're mad at me?" He said.
"Yes." I said placing some salade on it.
"El," He said. I ignored him and made my way to the table. But Brendan had caught up to me. He placed one hand on my waist and spun me around. My heart was racing. A simple touch, brings me to another world. The effect he had on me. Why?
"El." He said.
"Yes." I said in a low voice. I didn't trust it, not one bit.
"Look at me and tell me you're mad at me." He said. I couldn't. I just couldn't. Looking into his eyes, everything felt right. Everything felt normal. I no longer felt anger towards him and frankly that was scaring me. How can someone effect my mood like that?
"I'm not." I said. He smiled down at me and guided me to the table. I sat down and ate my food. It was quite nice. Everyone was seated on the same table. I don't where she got this big table but I'm glad she did. It reminded me of when I was little. Family and friends would come and we would all eat and talk. It reminded me of my father and my family, during our gloden age. It reminded me of the happiness I once felt during this time of year. Right now, normally I would be at home crying. Crying and wishing that things could go back. But right now, I was loving it.

Diner went great so did the game of taboo. And by now I didn't need to wear the awful onesie. We were seperated into 2 teams. Their was a few people I knew on my team, like P.K and Alex but the rest I didn't know. Needless to say, my team won. But Anna's and Brendan's team though we cheated. Till now Brandon and Anna we're shouting saying things that the last one shouldn't have counted. It was quite entertaning.

"Brandon, that wasn't even a point." Anna shouted.
"Yes, it was." Brandon said.
"No, she talked." Anna said talking about me. I was literally laughing because Anna was being a sore loser. She claimed before the game started that she was Pro and that her team always wins. I guess this lost isn't sitting too well for her.

"She said, oh my god! The word was nature." Brandon said.
"But she said God. And God created nature." She said. Brandon was about to talk again but Alex came to calm down his sister.
"Let it go Anna. They won fair and square." He said. She looked at her brother then back at Brandon.
"Santa better put you on the naughty list." She said. I let out chuckle and she glares at me. "You too!" She said.

"Me?!" I said. " What did I do?" I asked but I wasn't able to keep a straight face.
"Oh you know what you did." She said.
"Sorry?" I said but it sounded like a question. She rolled her eyes at me before giving me my jacket.
"You're lucky that I like you." She said. I laughed.
"I like you too Anna." I said. "Merry christmas." I said giving her a hug.
"Merry christmas Izzie." She said. "You too B" She said.
"Thanks." He said. He placed one hand on the small part of my back.
"Well we better get going." He said.
"Okay, well have a great christmas guys." Alex said.
"You too Alex." Brendan and I said in unison. And with that we left.

The car ride back to my place we didn't say a word. But the night pretty much speaks, it was perfect. But I didn't want it to end. I didn't want to go back to my appartment. I didn't want to wake up alone on christmas. I didn't want Brendan to leave me. But I couldn't ask him. I just couldn't. So by the the time we got to my building, I got out saying a quick goodbye. I didn't dare to look back. Because I know for a fact I would beg him to stay. So I made my way to the building slowly. I entered the elevator and waited to reach my floor. Time passed quicker and I was all ready infront of my door. I was looking for my apartment keys but I couldn't find them. I put them in my pocket...

"Goddammit I left it in his car!" I said. I took out my phone wanting to call Brendan but realized that I gave him my number. Not the other way around. I was out of luck. I pressed my forehead to the door and just waited. Waited for something or someone to help me.

"Somebody help me." I said to my door.
"Well that's actually a something." Someone said. I jumped and turned around. It was him.He was here. He came back. By impluse I jump into his arms.

"Thank God it's you!" I said into his arms.
"Why are you so happy to see me? I was just with you not even 5 minutes ago." He said. I let go of the hug but stood still close to him.
"I know but I wanted to know if you've seen my keys?" I asked.
"You mean these?" He said showing off my keys.
"Yes! Thank you." I said I took my keys and opened the door to my apartment. But before I even step in Brendan held my forearm. I turned back around.

"El" He said a hint of nervousness was visible in his voice
"Yes?"
"Could I stay the night?" He asked. Yes, yes and yes! Stay!
"Uh sure." I said.

We both got inside the apartement and got ready for bed. I laid down on my side with Brendans arm around. This was perfect. This was what I needed.And before I closed my eyes, I heard him say:
"What a perfect night."

And honestly I couldn't agree more.
