Love that We Deserve

II-The Game

As soon as Tyler arrived at his hotel he began to text as many of his former Boston acquaintances in hopes of finding someone to accompany him for the night. Mostly just to help get his mind off of the events that took place, someone to help him release his frustrations. Tyler wanted to avoid any train of thought that would have led him to think about Magdalena. He couldn't think about her the night before such an important hockey game, a game that meant so much to him. But if a game meant so much to him, how much did Magdalena mean to him?

**************
2011
"Tyler that's so sweet of you thank you!" Magdalena squealed as she threw on the Boston Bruins shirt that Tyler had gotten for her. It wasn't a diamond ring or six dozen flowers but Magdalena's heart melted at Tyler's cheesy gift for her. It was a black Bruins shirt that had the logo on the front and on the back had 'Seguin' written on it along with his number '19' beneath it. Tyler loved her reaction at something that was so small. He had purchased the shirt after her first Bruin game that she had watched, it was also the first hockey game that she had ever seen in person before.

"Now you can wear it when you watch our games" Tyler said as she reached out and hugged him. He buried his nose in the croak of her neck and took in her sweet scent. They stood there in silence and embraced one another. Magdalena opened her eyes after having them shut for a while and looked around. She began to run her fingers through Tylers hair and he pulled away from her and gave her a sincere smile. Tyler's brown eyes lit up and his pupils were fully dilated as he stared long and hard at Magdalena, he enjoyed her presence and the way she made him feel.

"God you're so beautiful," Tyler whispered to her. Magdalena blushed and smiled to the floor, she had strong feelings for him and it made her feel like a middle schooler with a silly crush when it came to Tyler. Hearing him say that he thought she was beautiful caused her emotions to stir up in circles and her stomach to do flips. Tyler reached over to her and rubbed her cheek and he felt the warmth build up in her face. He adored her.
**************

"Maggie! Wake up! ugh!" Jen, Magdalenas roommate and best friend shook her to wake her up. Magdalena pulled her coat over her head and groaned.

"Can you at least go to your room so I can clean up before company comes?" Jen shoved Magdalena and she finally awoke. Magdalenas face still had make up on and her eyelashes felt like they were glued together due to the mascara still being on. Her eyes burned due to all the crying she had done the night before.

"Sorry Jen, I had a rough night" Magdalena said as she sat up.

"Yeah I know I had to hear you cry all night," Jen joked. "And you went through like a hundred boxes of ice cream!" She laughed as she plopped down on the sofa next to Magdalena.

"I feel like crap"

"What did Dougie do?" Jen wrapped her arm around Magdalena and pulled her in closer.

"It wasn't Dougie, Jen" Magdalena mumbled as she began to recollect why she had been crying. "I saw Tyler last night," Magdalena cried as she crouched into a ball and began to weep in Jen's lap. Jen's eyes grew wide and she blinked quickly. Jen had been there for all the times Magdalena had broken down when something between her and Tyler would go south. Jen was glad when Tyler was traded to Dallas because that meant no more sad Magdalena. She hated seeing her best friend upset especially when it came to Tyler. To Jen, Tyler was an ass who didn't know what he had and never deserved Magdalena. At this point, Jen didn't want to hear about Tyler one bit.

"Come on girly! Let's get you all cleaned up and we can watch some chick flicks and eat more ice cream to get your mind off of that loser" Jen peeled Magdalena off of their couch and dragged her to the shower. As Magdalena took her shower her phone vibrated along the surface of the coffee table. Jen looked at it and couldn't help but answer.

"Hello?" She said.

"Hey Maggie?" Dougie's voice said.

"It's Jen, Maggie's in the shower, is there a message you want me to pass along to her?"

"Did she get home okay? She didn't text, call me, or anything after she left last night?" Jen could hear the worry in Dougie's voice through the phone and she felt bad for him.

"Yeah, she was just tired," Jen played with the button of her shirt nervously. She knew how much Dougie liked Magdalena and how much he cared about her. If she told him how hung up on Tyler Magdalena still was it would have cause a lot of issues, and plus it wasn't her secret to tell.

"Oh alright, um..can you just tell her to text me back or call me, I really want to talk to her and maybe see her before my game tonight" Jen smiled at Dougie's sincerity, it was actually cute.

"Yeah, I'll let her know,"

"Thanks, see ya Jen,"

"No problem, bye Doug" Jen laughed as she hung up. Jen continued clearing the living room from all the clutter left from the past week. She picked up Magdalenas laptop and the screen lit up to Tyler Seguin's facebook page.

Not this again.

Magdalena and Tyler weren't even facebook friends anymore and yet here it was, his facebook page on her computer screen. Jen shook her head and sighed in disappointment and exited out of the facebook tab. Magdalena deserved a lot better than some ass like Tyler playing games with her head, she was a nice girl who fell for the wrong guy who just happened to say the right things.

Meanwhile Tyler was on the phone with Bob and Dylan on 1310 the Ticket.

"Big game today, nervous?" One of the Radio hosts asked, Tyler bit his upper lip thinking of a good answer.

"Uhh I mean yeah, um..of course it's going to be a little weird playing an away game in the Garden, a place I called home not too long ago, but yeah it's a big game, the Bruins are a big team and we're [The Stars] hoping to get a big win today. It would be a great way to really hit off the season" Tyler responded to the question, hopefully not saying too much or letting anything slip. He seemed to be very good at that lately.

"How was the first night back in the 'B'?" the other Radio host asked. Tyler almost for one instant thought about her, but he pushed it aside and replaced it with the great moments that came along with the dinner and the bar that he and his former teammates headed off to on that previous night.

"It was great! Some of the players from the Bruins that I'm pretty close to came out for dinner last night, I'm not going to say where, haha, but we had a good night, great catching up" Tyler chuckled. The hosts continued asking Tyler questions about his experience in his former hometown in the short ten minute interview.

“How was it?” A small blonde said as she sat up from the lying position that she was previously in. Tyler slid off of the bed and began to head into the bathroom ignoring the woman on the bed. Tyler had sweet talked her into sleeping with him during a time of vulnerability, but it was a new day and he was over it, and her.

“You can just let yourself out, Sarah” Tyler said as he started the shower, he didn’t want to deal with her that morning. Tyler had met Sarah way back in his rookie season, she was the first girl he had slept with in Boston. Tyler had cheated on his current girlfriend at the time, Kathryn with Sarah and multiple other women later on. Sarah meant nothing more than just a fuck to Tyler- a hole for him to slip his dick in during times of need, and she fulfilled his needs, she wasn’t the best, but any pussy at all was better than no pussy right?

The Stars vs Bruins game went into overtime, 2-2. Tylers chest was heaving at how exhausted he was from skating so hard. He hadn’t scored at all and it was frustrating. He was having a good season so far and was always good at scoring (both on and off the ice) and tonight, when he really needed to, he wasn't working well with the puck.

"Can't lose this game" Tyler kept telling himself. As much as the Stars needed to win this game, Tyler felt it would have been a bigger win for himself more than anything.

Jamie Benn had scored in the first three minutes of the game with the assist of Valeri. Torey Krug of the Bruins the tied the game 1-1 only a minute later. Neither of the teams had scored in the second period and this caused great distress for Tyler. Milan Lucic scored in the third period with an assist from Dougie which only made Tyler feel like shit knowing that at least Dougie got a point and brought Boston to a least. The last point was scored by Vernon Fiddler with no assist. Coach Lindy was disappointed in how the team was lacking consistency.

The players on the Bruins team were surprised at how well the Stars were playing. They (the Bruins) had only played the Stars once in the past (and won by a landslide) and due to the changes in conference for the 2013-2014 season the Bruins would be seeing the Stars a lot more. During warmups they had made jokes about how funny it would be to beat Tyler and to put him down. They were bullies on the ice, they were The Big Bad Bruins and planned on keeping it that way.

As soon as Tylers name was called out at the beginning of the game there were cheers and boos. Mostly cheers which helped Tyler keep his head up. He had noticed a few people wearing his old number 19 jersey from when he had played for the Bruins and it made Tyler feel very bittersweet about it all. It was odd.

The final buzzer rang and Tylers heart stopped for a split second. The puck was on the Stars side of the ice and Tyler couldn’t help but think that the Bruins had just scored a winning goal.

"We're going into a shutout boys!" Jamie shoved into Tyler which broke Tyler out of his trance. Tyler smiled and let out a deep breath.

Thank God.

Tyler was in the second round for the shootout and his heart raced as his stick slapped the puck around, stalling. This moment was literally 50/50. If Tyler scored they would move to the next round, if Tyler missed the Stars would lose, point blank. Tyler thought of as many moves possible to get the puck in the net and had made a decision at the last minute. Everything slowed down and Tyler shut his eyes and heard the swish of the net and the buzzer go off. Goal. Tyler rammed himself into the plexiglass in celebration and purposely skated past the Bruins bench with a big smirk on his face. The shutout lasted four rounds and Rich Peverley scored the last goal giving the Stars the win. How was that for a big fuck you to Boston?

Magdalena watched from the stands at how intense the game was. She wanted the Bruins to win but a part of her was rooting for Tyler, not necessarily for the Stars but for Tyler. He deserved this win after the rollercoaster ride he had been on for the past couple months. But once the Stars won the game Magdalena realized that a winner wasn’t who she was going to be hugging and kissing, it was going to be Dougie who had just lost the game.

Tyler finished signing autographs and his interviews and began to walk over to the bus when he noticed Dougie and Magdalena in the parking lot. Flirting. It made his blood boil, that should have been him. Tyler wished she would just run into his arms and feel her once more, just one last time before he left.

Magdalena was in Tyler’s very soul, tormenting him. He couldn’t breathe at the thought of not being with her, it caused him unbearable agony. Tyler was troubled by the kiss he had given her that previous night.

February 14th, 2012

“You played so well Tyler!” Magdalena said as she wrapped her arms around Tyler’s neck and brought him close to her. Tyler shoved her aside and glared at her.

“Um the score was 3-0 we lost, did you even pay attention?” Tyler hissed at her. Magdalena’s smile began to fade away as she was bewildered at his tone changing the ambience of the situation. She knew how Tyler would get after a loss and all she wanted to do right now was comfort him and only bring out positive vibes.

“Oh come on Ty! You at least got to play that’s all that matters right?” Magdalena said trying to lighten Tyler up, but it wasn’t working. The Bruins had played poorly against the Rangers and Tyler was beating himself up for the loss. Tyler looked at Magdalena with disgust at how different her mood was from his own. It aggravated him that she wasn’t as upset as he was.

“Yeah and I played like shit” He said angrily. Tyler was pissed, and he needed to take it out on someone, and unfortunately Magdalena was the first person that he snapped at.

“Meg just go home,”

“Tyler what about-”

“Dinner? Fuck that Magdalena, forget it. We just lost a game, valentines day is the last thing I’m worried about right now its a stupid day anyway” Tyler’s words came out like poison as Magdalena took them in. It wasn’t just Valentines day, it was her birthday. Magdalena felt her nose get sniffly and she knew it was coming, the tears. She looked at Tyler, confused and asking herself

Why.

It seemed like she was always asking herself ‘Why?’ but she could never got an answer. The cold February air brushed past her face wiping the tear that began to form away. She gave Tyler a small smile and walked away.
Jen witnessed the entire situation and came to Magdalena’s rescue. It really hurt her to see her best friend get treated so poorly. Magdalena collapsed in Jen’s arms and was hysterical. Tyler could make or break Magdalena, it was terrifying for Jen to know that, because Tyler had been doing more breaking than ‘making’. It wasn’t fair to Magdalena, she was so fragile. Why was he such an ass?

**************

Jen finally took a seat on the couch after a long night of what felt like her old serving days. Jen and Magdalena decided to have a little get together with some of the players from the Bruins and their close friends. Although it was a loss for the Bruins, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Jen grabbed a glass of champagne from the tray that was set on the table and observed as her guests mingled.

“Hey girl heeeyy” Magdalena said happily as she jumped next to Jen and hugged her. Magdalena had done a total 180 on her emotions from this morning, and it made Jen happy. Jen grabbed Magdalena’s hand and rested her head on Magdalenas shoulder.

“Why so moppy Jenny” Magdalena said, she was already tipsy.

“Just been a long night that’s all,” Jen said calmly. It seemed as though she was the only one that was sober. Chatter had filled up the modern apartment and Jen just wanted to let loose, that was the plan after all.

“Just drink up you’ll feel a lot better!” Magalena cheered as she clinked her tall champagne glass on Jens. Magdalena hopped up and grabbed Jen’s hands and began to dance with her. Rachel, their third roommate joined in on their little dance and began to cheer with her 2 best friends.

For the rest of the night Magdalena continued drinking on, it was so strange having these post game celebrations without Tyler. The Bruin’s had a lot of home games so far in this season and it would have been nice if Tyler was still on the team because Magdalena would have seen him more. Magdalena had known Tyler since his rookie season, and their friends instantly clicked upon meeting, they had spent almost every home game night together since their meeting. Magdalena and her friends would soon befriend some of the players on the Bruins which gave them an inclusive pass to their circle. So at the end of the day, it was because of Tyler that Jen and Magdalena had the opportunity to meet the players and become friends with them.

“Hey baby” Dougie said as Magdalena squeezed into the conversation he was having with some of their friends. Magdalena hugged Dougie and he smiled.

“Hey baby,” She repeated whispering his ear with a seductive voice. Dougie already couldn’t handle the way she looked in her short white cocktail dress; Magdalena whispering in his ear made the blood rush to his pants.

Jesus. He thought as he wrapped his arm around her lower him, right above her ass.

“Did I tell you how great you look tonight,” Dougie said giving her a peck on the lips and Magdalena bit on his lip as they pulled apart, pushing his buttons.

“Mmm..” Magdalena grinned.

“PDA much?” Brad marchand stepped in between the two love birds separating them. Marchand wrapped his arms around the two of them, his left hand holding a libbey glass. Magdalena giggled and slipped from under Marchands arms and grabbed Dougie. She led him to her bedroom where she began to kiss Dougie all upon his neck and face.

nothing.

Magdalena kissed and kissed and kissed, and yet she felt nothing. Was it the alcohol that made her numb? Nope, and she knew that. She knew why she was leading Dougie on. She wanted to feel that same spark that she felt with Tyler, but n o t h i n g. Magdalena was drunk, and even though it was Dougie who she had in her arms, she wished it was Tyler instead. Dougie pulled the straps of her dress down and Magdalena stopped him immediately and let out a sigh.

“You’re still not over him are you?” Dougie said exasperated.
