Love that We Deserve

VI- Inevitable

~ “The shattering of a heart when being broken is the loudest quiet ever.”
― Carroll Bryant ~

New York City was fast paced and busy 24/7, filled with astounding buildings that pierced the sky.The sidewalks were always overflowing with people shopping, or making their way to their next stop. The streets of The Big Apple a nickname given to New York City, come with an aura that you can’t find anywhere else; hard to describe but definitely there.Tyler and Magdalena were finally in the same city for the first time in two months, they may not have known it, but something was bound to happen, good or bad, it was just fate.

Magdalena finally got back into her regular clothes and stepped outside for some fresh air, after a two hour photo shoot. She was only a couple blocks away from her apartment, so she decided to walk. Magdalena walked slowly at a relaxed pace, she needed to think, after the phone call she had received this morning. Snow was falling from the sky during Magdalena’s walk and she began to think about her entire experience in New York, and then her short relationship with Dougie, and then right to Tyler Seguin. The man who she had fallen so hopelessly for, the one who she was desperate for. She was bound to him and couldn’t run away. The one thing she ever wanted from Tyler was for him to open up to her, to break down his walls just like she did for him. And then she began to think about their fight, how he had taken three years worth of emotions and frustrations and threw it back at her, ripping her heart to pieces with his own words that sliced like a knife. She then promptly began to think about their first and last kiss, which were one in the same. She remembered the look on his face, the disparity and the ache, his subdued words that he uttered to her, the way his heart thumped against her back when he hugged her, the clouds of his breath, his warmth, his...his..his everything. She had never imagined in a million years that she and Tyler would end up like this, distant. Magdalena felt her fingertips get sore as she clenched her fists. She let out a breath and reached into her bag to grab her gloves and put them on. Soon Magdalena would arrive at the apartment and she involuntarily went over to her room and pulled out her suitcase. She sat on the floor and unzipped the secret compartment and within it laid a perfectly folded grey large Bruins underarmour shirt. Magdalena shut her eyes, letting everything sink in, letting Tyler sink in. Her hands trembled as she reached for the shirt and lifted it up by the shoulders and gazed at the shirt. Tears began to form, a sensation that Magdalena had become much too familiar with. She pursed her lips and dropped her arms down bringing the shirt closer to her chest. Magdalena could have been hallucinating but she swore there was the faint smell of Tyler’s cologne still on it. She then unbuttoned her jacket and removed her sweater and replaced it all with Tyler’s old shirt. She felt an overpowering sense of comfort come across her as the shirt drooped over her small body. That’s how she always felt with Tyler, small and comfortable.

Tyler and the Dallas Stars players along with management and reporters sat down at a restaurant in New York to have lunch. Their game would be in six hours and afterwards they would be in New York for another day and then they would head back down to Dallas ending the Dallas Stars’ week in New York.

“How great is it for you to be apart of the Canadian Olympic team?” A Stars insider reporter, asked Jamie Benn, who had just made the Olympic team.

“So great, I’ve worked all season for an opportunity to play on the team. I’m very excited to represent my home and play with the other players who made the team as well,”

“Isn’t awesome knowing that you literally had to work to make this team, you weren’t at the summer camp correct?”

“Team Canada-or any team by any means is hard to make in the Olympics, and I was disappointed that I didn’t even get an invite for the camp, but that also motivated me to work harder and push myself to this point. I’m sure a lot of the guys who were at the camp and who are on the team had to work hard too.”

The reporter, named Lise, and Jamie wrapped up their interview after another five minutes or so. Everyone’s meals had arrived and Tyler’s mouth watered at his medium done steak that he was about to devour.

Later on that day the Stars were on the ice skating around while some pump up music played. The feeling of the cool air in Madison Square Garden felt good on Tyler’s skin. He was used to this feeling and he loved it. Positive vibes were being sent all through the Dallas Stars bench and circle. As Tyler skated around the rink he noticed a few fans out in the stands wearing his old Bruins jersey, which he knew would have caused them trouble, so Tyler felt a deep appreciation and respect for those fans. He waved towards everyone and kept his head low afterwards. Michael Del Zotto number four on the New York Rangers was a long time friend of Tylers and they skated past each other sending a couple chirps at one another. Tyler was really going to enjoy this game, and tonight.

The game ended with 3-2 for the New York Rangers. Both the teams played exceptionally well and there were no hard feelings. The Rangers had put everything out on the ice and it was evident in their win. It was a very close game, the last shot being two minutes away from overtime happening to which the Stars couldn’t reciprocate. As the boys lined up to shake hands Michael Del Zotto and Tyler hugged it out and laughed with one another. It was a great game, even if it was a loss.

“See you tonight, hey?” Michael winked.

“No doubt about it,” Tyler smiled.

Ka-chick Ka-chick Ka-chick

Camera’s went off from all angles as the private fashion show went on. Magdalena sat at the very front with her three other roommates enjoying the show. This by far was Magdalena’s favorite part of being a model in NYC, the phenomenal shows, it was all surreal. It was cool seeing unreleased designs by major designers such as Chanel, Versace, Yves Saint Laurent, the list went on.

“Hey they’re serving cocktails out in the foyer, want to come with?” Carly leaned over touching Magdalena’s knee.

“Hell yes,” Magdalena nodded ecstatically. She and Carly stood up and Carly grabbed her hand, about to guide them out of the crowded area.

“Me too!” Selita said practically shooting straight up from her seat and grabbed onto Magdalena’s hand. The three girls stepped outside and finally got some new air and looked around to see many men and women standing around chatting, but they were searching for the drink caterers.

“Found them!” Selita shrieked as she skurried over to a man holding a tray of drinks. She then grabbed three of the oddly shaped cocktail glasses and slowly struggled to walk back to Carly and Magdalena, taking small sips of her own drink.

“Thanks,” Carly and Magdalena laughed as they carefully took their drinks from Selita. The three girls began to converse as they drank their cocktail, a few gentlemen came over to join them in their conversation and soon they all decided to go back to the show.

“I’m going to get some fresh air, it’s so stuffy in there,” Magdalena sighed. Although the fashion show was nice and filled with great looking people and pieces, the room reeked of body odor and tons of different expensive perfumes, it was kind of a headache.

“Alright, I’ll save your spot!” Carly shouted as she turned around and walked back to the show, her arm linked with one of the guys they were speaking to.

Magdalena walked to the back door and pushed it open, letting the air enter through her nose and out her mouth. Magdalena shut her eyes and walked through, letting the door click shut behind her. She put on the coat she had in her hand and pushed her hands into the pockets. She looked around and could hear a mix of tons of drunk people talking, car horns, cars speeding, and cheers coming from all over. She slightly rolled her eyes when she realized she was standing right behind the Madison Square Garden, there must have been a game. Magdalena crossed the small street that separated the back of the Manhattan Mall from the back of MSG. There were people all over, smoking, waiting for rides, arguing, etcetera, etcetera. She needed to breathe.

Was her relationship with Dougie over?

She knew that they would end eventually, just not the way it actually went down. She wanted them to remain friends at least. All the people, cars, and noise around Magdalena had become white noise and all Magdalena could hear was the internal ringing sound that caused her a headache as her head whirled around. She shut her eyes trying to snap back to normal, and when she did she opened her eyes only to see the dreaded Tyler Seguin walking out back with a large bag on his shoulder, surrounded by his teammates and fans. Her heart stopped, and for that moment Magdalena swore she had died right then and there. This had to be a nightmare. As soon as Tyler’s eyes met Magdalena’s, she could feel her entire body stiffen and her body temperature drop, not because of the cold weather outside, but because she felt drained of everything seeing Tyler again for the first time since their kiss.

For Tyler, it hadn’t taken him long to see the woman idly standing in the parking lot, with her eyes shut. It surprised him at first but after only a brief period of time he had realized that it was Magdalena. He stared right at her, and he knew the gaze his eyes gave off burned through her. As much of a cliche as it might have been, she literally looked like she had just seen a ghost, and in this case it might as well have been true. Tyler could feel his teammates bumping into him and nudging him to get him out of this odd trance that he was in, but he didn’t budge. The bag on his shoulder began to weigh him down and he let it droop down to the cement.

They both stared at one another peculiarly. Tyler wanted to speak, but somehow he had forgotten every single word in the english language, he was sure that if he were to say something he would end up speaking in tongues. Magdalena felt like her body had been numbed so that she was paralyzed and couldn’t move, and yet she could still feel every sensation and do nothing about it. It was almost as if her feet had been nailed to the ground, she couldn’t turn and run away from Tyler now.

“Tyler! Get the fuck in!” Jamie called from inside the bus. Tyler shot his head in Jamie’s direction and furrowed his eyebrows, still lost for words like his tongue had been cut out. Tyler looked back at Magdalena who now had tears in her eyes, but hadn’t moved from her spot.

“I’m sorry,” Tyler mouthed to her, only making her feel worse. Magdalena somehow miraculously managed to spin back around and cry in her hands, trying to hid her face. Tyler picked his bag back up and walked onto the bus with his head down low, maybe tonight wasn’t going to be that great after all.

Magdalena ran off back inside the Mall and made her way to the bathroom, just as she was doing so she dialed Jen’s number.

“Hey girl, whats up!?” Jen answered immediately.

“Tyler, he’s here. He’s in New York City, Jen I don’t know what to do,” Magdalena said as she began to pace around, anxiously, letting the tears run down her face, drop by drop.

“Maggie.” Jen said sternly. “Don’t let him get to you, just ignore anything he tries to say to you,”

“Jen I can’t-”

“Maggie,”

Magdalena felt like her chest was caving in on her, her heart was racing, she began to feel sweaty, her stomach was in knots and her breathing became short. Actually, it was starting to get hard to breathe, like someone was choking her. Magdalena wanted to scream but her throat was dry and she started to heave.

“Magdalena?” Jen began to worry as all she could hear was the sound of Magdalena wheezing. “What’s going on, where are you? Maggie answer me!”

“I can’t breathe,” Magdalena shouted as she gasped for air. “What’s... happening... to me,” Magdalena said in short breaths.

“Maggie, take a deep breath,”

“I…I…”

“Maggie, you can do it, just breathe in through your nose, just relax.” Jen’s voice soothed. “I’m going to count to three and you’re going to take a deep breath okay? One..two...three, breathe in,”

Magdalena sucked in.

“Okay hold it for two seconds...okay breathe out, one...two… breathe in…” Jen began to comfort Magdalena throughout her panic attack.Magdalena’s brain was throbbing against her skull and she started to feel dizzy. Jen continued to help guide Magdalena’s breathing until Magdalena started to breath regularly again.

“Thanks,” Magdalena sighed.

“What has this boy done to you…” Jen grumbled.

Magdalena’s words practically poured out as she explained everything. “..I think Dougie and I broke up, and I have no clue how to handle it, he didn’t speak to me for a week and when I called him he asked me if I still felt anything for Tyler, and I didn’t want to lie, but I never got to answer and he hung up and didn’t give me a chance. He hates me Jen, I feel horrible, and now he won’t answer my texts or my calls, or anything. And then Tyler’s been calling and texting me since we kissed and I don’t know if I should ign-”

“Stop right there. You and Tyler kissed? And you didn’t fucking tell me!?”

“You didn’t want to hear it,”

“What a fucking jackass! Is this why you were crying?”

“Pretty much yeah..”

“Maggie, stay away from him, he’s only going to hurt you. Every time he’s around or if he’s mentioned you can’t hold yourself together...”

Magdalena listened as Jen spoke and remained silent on the other line. The conversation went on for an hour or so until Jen had to hang up, Magalena was still in the bathroom and people had come in and out.

“There you are! Where’d you go off to!?” Carly asked as she stepped into the bathroom and spotted Magdalena. “Oh Jesus, what happened?”

Magdalena looked at Carly and her eyes began to well up, Carly noticed Magdalena’s body language and reached over and hugged her. That’s all Magdalena needed at the moment, a hug.
Tyler arrived at the bar sporting a black Ralph Lauren v neck, dark grey jeans, and a black toque to top it off. His entourage consisted of almost every player on the Stars team. The music in the bar blasted in Tyler’s ears along with the sound of voices either screaming out lyrics to the song playing, or having loud conversations. Tyler couldn’t help but bite his lip in excitement. He was then greeted by Michael Del Zotto, Carl Hagelin, and Stu Bickel, who came bearing shots, while the rest of the Rangers were scattered about the bar.

“How goes it, boys?” Tyler smirked.

“Look around! They love us!” Michael shouted as he threw his hands up directing everyone’s eyes towards one of the many flat screen tv’s around the bar that was displaying highlights of the game.

“Listen up, we got the VIP lounge, we’re just missing some tens to help join us in there, it’s a sausage fest up in there right now” Stu shouted over the music. Tyler looked to his left and his right and a coy smile crept on his face.

“Let’s get ‘er done boys!” Tyler cheered as he grabbed a shot glass from Michael, he clinked his shot glass against Jamie, who stood to his left, and downed the shot, which caused a burn in his throat.

Their night was filled with a lot of fans approaching them, taking photographs, paying for rounds of shots for women who they wouldn’t remember, and for Tyler-somehow remaining sober.

“Have a fucking drink!” Jamie said as he slapped Tyler’s back. Under Jamie’s shoulder stood a platinum blonde haired girl with big brown eyes. Tyler’s eyebrows shot up in astoundment and chuckled. Seeing Jamie drunk was always a good time.

“I keep having to take pics or sign autographs! They love me here!” Tyler shrugged.

“Here, take mine! I’ll get another!” Jamie shouted as he shoved a beer in Tyler’s chest and spun around towards the bar table. Tyler wrapped his lips on the opening of the bottle and gulped the beer down. Tyler’s mind still hadn’t drifted away from the thoughts of Magdalena. He tried to play it cool, but he felt uneasy. Tyler reached into his pocket and pulled his phone out.

12:56am

The time read. Tyler rubbed his hand on his face exhausted. Tyler pushed his phone back into his pocket and searched around to find someone. Jordie. Tyler walked over to Jordie and placed his hand on his [Jordie] shoulder.

“I’m going to head out man, not really feeling it tonight,” Tyler said in Jordie’s ear.

“You going to be alright?”

“Yeah, just tired man. Let everyone know I left” Tyler sighed. Jordie nodded and continued dancing with the girl that was in front of him. Tyler began to walk towards the front door and even more women approached him, asking to dance but he politely declined. He insisted on taking photos instead and continued to the door. One he was out he finally got a good look at New York. Throughout the day it was so busy, but during the night it was quiet and empty and yet the lights lit the city up. Instead of calling for a ride home, Tyler decided to take a walk, in attempt to sober up, or get rid of whatever edginess he was feeling. Running into Magdalena had caused his mind to stir and he was totally off.

What would have happened if he actually went up to her?

He thought. He felt like such a pussy, a bitch, for not being able to speak to her in person. He stood there while she waited for him; waited for him to do something. Anything.

Come on Ty man the fuck up.

Tyler grabbed his phone and dialed Magdalena’s number. He had it memorized by heart. Four rings had gone by and he began to get impatient, and then it stopped. Without hesitating Tyler said:

“I want to see you,” And then there was silence on the phone, it was eating at Tyler.

“Are you drunk right now?”

“Does it matter? Let me see you.” Tyler demanded.

“Did you mean it Tyler? When you said you needed me?”

“Every word Meg,”

“How can you even say that to me Ty..” Magdalena sobbed which caused a pull on Tyler’s heart strings. Tyler looked down at his shoes as he walked along the sidewalk, again, lost for words. That week in June/July had to be the worst time of his life. He had destroyed a friendship and he was definitely the reason behind Magdalena’s suffering, he knew it. Right after that, he was traded. Karma had done a 180 on his life and slapped him right in the face. He deserved it. “I was so emotionally invested into you Tyler, I put so much into you and you threw it right back at me, like it was nothing! Like I was nothing...now how am I supposed to believe that you need me, how am I supposed to trust you again, how will I know you won’t hurt me again?!” Magdalena spat at him, crying. “What were you thinking when you kissed me that night!? You knew that Dougie and I were dating. How could you?”

Were?” Tyler choked. Magdalena on the other end pursed her lips and shut her eyes as she allowed her and Dougie’s demise sink in. “You guys broke up?”

“That’s not the point, Tyler.” Magdalena’s tone began to soften.

“You’re right, the point is, I miss you, and I want to see you again M-”

“No Tyler, you made your decision the day you said those words to me. I’m so sick of crying. It hurts Tyler, it always hurt. Seeing you with other girls, trying to convince myself that you and I were going to workout somehow, but you made sure that I knew otherwise. I’m over you running to me with your misery, I’m done with you pushing me aside like I’m worthless or something. Tyler I’m just over it.”

“Magdalena, please I’m begging!” Tyler shouted loud enough for the entire city of New York to hear. The veins in his neck were bulging as he began to tense up and stopped in his footsteps.

“You are like a damn vampire, you suck and drain me of all the joy in my life and I hate you so much for that Tyler Seguin. I hate you so much I think I love you! And you know what’s worse? I hate myself for that. I’m done.” Hearing the word hate come out of Magdalena’s voice hurt Tyler, it only reminded him of every blunder he had ever made, it reminded him so much of his errors that he had completely missed the fact that she had just told him she loved him.

“I meant what I said Meg! Can we talk in person? Please, let me just fucking see you. Even if it’s just for a moment” Tyler sat on the curb and placed his head in his hands, afraid that he would cry. “You’re everything I need right now.” Tyler said, repeating the words that she had said to him almost two years ago.

Magdalena started to cry even more. Every single emotion pouring down her face with each tear drop, once again. Tyler was inevitable and so were these feelings.

“Please don’t cry Magdalena,” Tyler said on the phone, only making it worse for Magdalena. The tone in Tyler’s voice was so strange to Magdalena. He sounded so unfamiliar, almost like a different person. Her heart began to pound, the same way it had just three hours ago in the bathroom. Magdalena tried to stop her racing thoughts from causing another anxiety attack but it started to become harder to breathe for her.

“I just want this all to stop.”

“I’ll fix it.”

“How?”

“Tell me where you are. Let me see you,”

2:03 am

Tyler looked at a distressed Magdalena as she stood in the door frame. Her hair was a mess, her makeup had been smudged with black marks all along her cheeks, probably from the crying. But she was still breath taking. Tyler didn’t step in, he just stared at her in amazement. Magdalena did the same. This would be the second time, in less that 24 hours that they found themselves just looking at one another. Magdalena took one step forward, stepping out of the apartment and wrapped her arms around Tyler’s neck. She examined his eyes as he stared intently at her own. She shifted closer causing Tyler to gasp. Tyler wrapped his arms around her dainty physique and pulled her closer, he could feel her warmth and her heart pounding against his chest. Their noses were now touching and her lips brushed against his own.

“Kiss me,” She whispered, and Tyler’s lips had a mind of their own and did so. Tyler’s breathing started to get heavy and fast. Magdalena grabbed his face and pretty much poured everything she felt in the kiss. Tyler felt it all, all her pain and suffering as he pushed his tongue into her mouth begging for an entrance. Their kiss lasted for a mere twenty seconds or so, give or take, but it felt like forever for the both of them.

“Meg,” Tyler breathed out as Magdalena pulled away. They were still outside of the apartment and Magdalena slid down the wall that was in the hallway of the building. Tyler did the same and laid down, resting his head on her lap. He grabbed her arm and placed it over his neck and kissed her hand. Magdalena pulled her hand back only slightly and started to rub her fingers in his hair. No words were spoken afterwards. They sat in the hallway speechless, until they both dozed off.

Notes

Long chapter and I hope you like this one. I wrote this chapter based off of a dance by Mia Michaels, she's an amazing choreographer and this dance always gets to me. I think it's an excellent portrayal of the effect that Tyler has on Magdalena.

Thanks for reading :) <3

PS: There will be more Dougie in the story, he and Magdalena aren't done just yet.
