The Ice Prince and The Snow Queen

Kala Saves Him...But Patrick Isn’t Amused

Kala Mari returned to the set with Dimitri at her side. She found no Jonathan Toews and a piece of paper flapping under a rock paper weight on the table of the restaurant. She groaned, hitting her head and walked over, grabbing Dimitri’s hand.

“Dublin. I should have known. God, he must have thought Jonny was you! This isn’t good!” Kala remarked.

Dimitri looked around, fearfully. “Either that, or it’s all a rouse to get me in his clutches again! Why did they have to hire him as the villain…? I mean he is a good villain, very realistic...but he’s TOO realistic!”

Kala read the note. “They’re holding him captive in an old law firm place Downtown! And he gave all of the information….either he’s not right in the head today or he has something planned. Whatever the case, we should go!”

“Oh no! I’m not walking a trap...or into an abandoned building with that man lurking about!” Dimitri yanked his arm free and started to walk off.

Kala snatched his arm though, halting him. “I won’t let Dublin hurt you, I promise. But please. Your twin--an innocent man...innocent hockey players needs us!”

Dimitri spun to her, blinking. “My twin?! Wait! If Jonathan’s my twin and you like him...you like me?”

“Like a brother, Dimitri. But Jonny…”

“I think I get your logic, no matter how messed up it is. I understand, Kala. I’ll help.”

Kala smiled. They started to leave the set, when someone screamed out, “Kala, wait!” They whirled around to see Patrick Kane skid into the set, terrified.

“Kaner?” they questioned.

“Jonny’s been fucking kidnapped, man!” the blond blurted out, slowing in his stride as he gradually halted before them.

“We know,” Kala replied. “Dublin - the actor and villain - left a nice note.”

“Well Pronger….Chris Pronger...told me you’d know where Jonny is. He told me to come to you. Luckily it wasn’t that difficult to find you.”

“We do know where he is...Dublin left the exact address and everything.”

“Then we gotta go save him at once!” Patrick insisted. “Jonny’s everything to me, I can’t let anything happen to him!”

“Wait, Jonny?” Dimitri questioned. “You call Jonathan, Jonny?”

“Yeah. Why?” Patrick questioned.

Kala sighed. “Dublin does think Jonathan is you, Dimitri!”

“Wait, what?” Patrick waved his hands in front of him. He was lost. What were they talking about? What did Jonathan or “Jonny” have to do with Dimitri?

“Johnny is my character’s name,” Dimitri replied.

“Oh!” Patrick exclaimed. “I see. But what does Pronger have to do with this?”

“I don’t know. It’s fishy, but we need to...you know, get to Jonathan Toews ASAP!” Kala stated.

Patrick and Dimitri nodded. They all left the set and crossed the bridge over the Chicago River and quickly came to the building. A muffled grunting came from within. Kala took charge as Patrick took Dimitri’s hand out of nervousness.

Dimitri looked at him, awkwardly and jerked his hand free. Patrick whispered in apology. Kala peered into the building through the slot in the door. She could see Dublin taunting Jonathan and messing around with him, calling him “Dimitri”.

“Knew it!” Kala hissed. She turned to them. “He thinks that Jonathan is Dimitri.”

“What about Pronger? I know it was him over the phone!” Patrick questioned, his blue eyes shimmering in the dim light. There was a small amount of trepidation there as well.

Kala turned back to the door and peered in. She shook her head. “I don’t see him!”

“Yeah, probably ‘cause you’re distracted by MY boyfriend’s hotness!” Patrick hissed. “I fucking knew that you two were madly in love. I knew my eyes weren’t kidding me. Oh God!”

Kala slapped a hand over Patrick’s mouth and shoved him to the side. Dimitri watched them, but stayed in his spot. Kala shoved Patrick across the street to a small park. They stopped by a tree as Patrick smacked her hand down finally.

“I’m sorry. I never met to hurt you two, but Jonathan tells me you’re clingy! You need to give him some space!” Kala snapped.

“Clingy? I’m fucking going to save his ass from a villain!”

“You know what I mean, Patrick. You’re jealousy blinds you and makes you clingy and protective. Jonathan doesn’t like that. Instead of him liking you, you’re pushing him away. And maybe you need to respect his wishes and desires. If you truly care about Jonathan Toews, you’ll let him be happy.”

Patrick shoved her to the side. “To hell with that! Jonathan’s mine! I’m saving him before you can!”

“Patrick no!” Kala screamed.

Patrick sprinted across the street and threw open the doors. “Get the hell away from my best friend!”

Jonathan was in tears, as he saw his best friend standing there. He screamed out at him, trying desperately to warn him about the crossbow and the trap and Pronger, but the bow stifled his cries. Dublin snickered at the distressed hockey captain.

Kala darted in behind him, skidding to a halt in the doorway with Dimitri. Patrick padded in, clenching his fist in fury. Kala spotted something move in the shadows and she knew something was definitely off. Suddenly an equally big man to Dublin leapt from the shadows at Patrick.

“PATRICK!” Kala screamed.

The blond gasped, losing his anger as he was wrapped up by the ex-Flyer.

“Pronger!” Patrick managed to exclaim.

Jonathan’s muffled screams were shriller now and the Blackhawk managed to finally break free from the chair. He kicked Dublin in the leg and worked quickly to bring his arms to his front. The rope around his upper arms slipped off in the chaos and he was able to remove the necktie.

“KANER!” he screamed. “Don’t stop fighting! Rinaldo, he’s got a crossbow!”

Dublin grabbed him and slapped a hand over his mouth but the damage was done to the villain’s dastardly plan. Rinaldo panicked and let the arrow fly, hitting Pronger in the arm, causing him to release Patrick, who shoved him to the ground. In the time it took for him to reload, Kala was on it and she reached him, just as he had the arrow fit into place. She roundhouse kicked him and send him slamming into the boards to the side of the building, knocking him out cold.

Pronger wrenched the arrow free from him and lunged at Patrick. The blond met him, attempting to hold his own. Pronger smirked as he pushed the arrow tip closer to Patrick. “I will make you suffer!”

“In your dreams!”

Dimitri cowered in the doorway, unsure how to help...or even if he wanted to. Kala shoved at Dublin, trying to get to Jonathan, who was trying to tell her to forget it and save Patrick.

That’s when a sharp, shrill cry exploded from Patrick Kane. Pronger jammed the arrow into Patrick’s shoulder, pushing hard into it and sinking it into his flesh. Patrick collapsed to the floor on his knees. But before Pronger could finish his kill, Dimitri finally mustered his courage and he dashed forward. He punched Pronger in the head and it was enough to allow Patrick to kick him hard in the crotch.

Pronger let go of the arrow dagger, which Patrick ripped from him and flung to the side. Kala got Jonathan free and kneed Dublin in the crotch.

“You fucking bastard Dublin!” Kala snapped. “You’re so done! This is gonna be your last project!”

Jonathan darted over to Patrick, who braved his serious injury and helped his friend out with untying his wrists. They shared a hug with one another. Patrick blinked his appreciation to Dimitri, who dipped his head.

“Are you okay Jonny?” Patrick asked, wincing at the pain in his shoulder. Blood was pooling out in globs and it caked his shoulder, looking quite grotesque.

“Better question is, are you?”

Patrick looked at his shoulder. “Not as bad as the clavicle. Still fucking hurts though.”

Jonathan chuckled and helped him to his feet. Kala had Dublin by the arm and was leading him outside, scolding him nonstop. The big goon didn’t seem too thrilled by it, but she was like the alpha to him. He didn’t fight her or nothing. The other three men followed her out.

“This isn’t over Patrick Timothy Kane Jr!” Pronger roared.

“Fuck. You.” Patrick spat and Dimitri slammed the door to the building.

They crossed back over the bridge and back to the movie set, where a group of concerned Blackhawks were. Kala let Dublin go and the villain looked pretty scared as he saw an angry Andrew Shaw, Brent Seabrook and Bryan Bickell.

Kala shrugged and remarked, “Have at him boys, he hurt Jonathan Toews.” She laughed as they surround Dublin and began pummelling him with fists. “A taste of your own medicine Dublin!”

Jonathan looked at Patrick. “She’s kinda scary in how tough she is…”

“Yeah,” Patrick sighed in agreement.

There was a moment of awkward silence, before Patrick spoke up, “Listen Jonny, I think we had a good run, you and I, but if you wanna be with Kala, a stunning movie actress, I won’t stop you. I love you too much and care about you...I just want you to be happy. I’ll always cherish our relationship but I don’t mind if that changed to best friends!”

Jonathan blinked in shock at Patrick’s sudden change in heart and non-clingyness. He eventually smiled and nodded. “I’d like that a lot Kaner. Thanks.”

Patrick smiled back at him. “It’s the truth. I was so caught up in jealousy that is clouded my feelings. But when you’re facing death...I guess it took Pronger stabbing me in the shoulder to realize that I care a lot about you and just want you to be happy.”

“I’ll always be happy knowing you Kaner, whether it’s as a couple as boyfriends or lovers or best friends or hockey bros, you’re my main man Patrick Kane and I never want to lose you.” Jonathan raked his hand through Patrick’s curly blond locks.

“I can be happy with that. So, best buds?”

“Hockey bros, Peeks.”

“Well, you are the older brother I never had…”

Jonathan suddenly kissed Patrick’s lips and then walked over to Kala, who was smiling at him. He wrapped her up and gave her a big kiss on the lips. Kala giggled.

“Kaner’s okay with us!” Jonathan exclaimed as he lifted her off the ground and twirled her around in the air like a princess.

“Yeah, but that doesn’t mean you should shove it down my throat right now Jonny, come on, we JUST broke up!” Patrick complained, rolling his eyes.

“Sorry Kaner!” Jonathan shouted as he set Kala back down on her feet.

Patrick folded his arms and struck a pose, wrinkling his nose up. He couldn’t believe that Jonathan was moving on from him so fast...but then again...he was the superstar captain. And Patrick couldn’t deny those handsome movie star looks of his. Dimitri came up to him.

“Sorry about Kala breaking you two apart. I thought you both made a really cute couple together.”

“It’s okay. And for the record, I’m not interested in dating you in Jonny’s place. I might just stay single. Relationships are hard.”

“It’s okay. I’m not the blond male hockey player type anyway. I’m totally straight.”

Patrick looked at him and chuckled. “Good to know.”

The group eventually broke apart, when Dublin ran from the scene, right into the producer, who shook his head in disappointment and turned the villain over to the police. The Blackhawks returned to the United Center, where Patrick’s wound was dressed and it healed quickly. It hadn’t been as deep and bad as they thought which was good.

And as it turned out, the movie’s footage had been complete, so it didn’t matter that Dublin was arrested. The movie was finished and the staff actually decided to add to it a little bit. A new character was added to the plot. A certain ice hockey player.

The movie was renamed “The Ice Prince and The Snow Queen”.
