The Ice Prince and The Snow Queen

Kala In Chicago

"Kala, I really don't want –"

Kala cut Dimitri off by kissing his lips. When she pulled away, he pouted. "Why do you do that? It makes me want more," he whined.

She giggled and sighed. "I just wanted you to shut up, Dimitri. Not make you turned on." She wrapped her arms around his left one and leaned her head against his shoulder.

Across from them, Dublin rolled his eyes. “You two better not make out on the flight, otherwise I swear I will find a way to lock you in the bathroom or throw you out of the plane! Gosh, you know I hate it when you guys are all affectionate in my face.”

“Oh, Dublin, this isn’t the movie. You can let up on the villain act, man!” Dimitri laughed.

Dublin got to his feet and stomped over to them. He leaned over Dimitri, grabbing the collar of his nice white dress shirt. “I am who I am, Nikolaikov!”

“Whoa, whoa, Dublin Volchenkov, stop it! Don’t hurt him!” Kala screamed, pushing him back.

Dublin growled and returned to his seat, sitting down at once. “Don’t make out. I mean it.” He reached into his bag and pulled out his headphones and stuck them in. “I can’t wait to kidnap you in Chicago, Johnny!”

Dimitri gasped and spun to Kala.

“Just ignore him, Dimitri. Dublin’s just a massive stick in the mud and an anti-romantic, cause he’s all alone!” Kala spat.

Dublin gave her a cold look, but chose to ignore her, instead rocking out to his music, which was a variety of rap, hip hop and metal (you know typical bad guy music).

It was around noon, late in the morning, when they had left for the airport. They were all the way in San Francisco and had to get to Chicago for the next filming of the movie. And it was going to be a long one, as Dublin was already stuck in a funk. He was a professional though and he should be able to control himself.

But lately, he’d been growing more and more like his character and less like an actor portraying the role. If it got anymore out of hand, something bad would happen.

Luckily, that was for the staff to handle and worry about. Dimitri and Kala were safe.

"Anyway, Kala, can't we travel by train?" Dimitri whined. The thought of running into a terrible lightning storm and the bolt blasting the plane to bits with everybody else on board made him want to pee his pants. The one thing that is scarier than Dublin himself is a very furious sky.

Kala sighed for the millionth time. "No, because taking the train is longer than just flying. Seriously, Dimitri, you're freaking invulnerable. And besides, we’ll be okay. Come on, it won’t be that bad and we can try to get as far from Dublin as possible." She let go of his arm and looked at him, seriously.

Dimitri shook his head. "Well…maybe. But you don't understand," He looked into her eyes, "if we ride the plane, everybody on it has a higher chance of dying. The skies, the danger of a plane crash increases hugely. And I don’t really feel like dying today." He did his best puppy dog eyes at her.

"Dimitri, I go through the same fear. But we already bought the tickets; they're also non-refundable. So, you're going to have to cry me a river, build me a bridge, and get over it," she replied. “Everything will be okay. Just man up.”

He was about to speak, but the flight attendant at the desk announced their plane's arrival.

“Finally!” Dublin sighed angrily. “Let’s get to Chicago so I can have my fun with pretty boy here.” He smirked and grabbed Dimitri’s chin with his hands. “Kidnapping you will be great fun.”

Dimitri held his ground. But Dublin cackled and stormed over to where the line had begun to form, after all the passengers from the current flight had gotten off.

Kala gathered up her luggage and grabbed her fellow actor’s arm. Dimitri stayed put; he wasn't about to get onto the plane easily. "Kala, no. I'm not going on that plane. Not with that man!"

She huffed, "Then I'm going to leave you here,"

He shrugged. "I don't care. Anywhere but on there with him," he demanded.

She rolled her eyes and walked away. "And I’m the woman? Wuss. You’re not a man, Dimitri, afraid of getting hurt by a plane and a bad guy? Pathetic." She shook her head and heading toward Dublin and the line. He looked at her.

"Hey! Excuse me Miss Kala Mari, but may I remind you who has the name of a certain seafood dish?" he retorted.

She smirked at him. “And that’s got what to do with me?”

“Nothing.”

“Then…nice comeback. Like you, pathetic.”

“I’m not pathetic. Fine, I’ll come with you, I’d hate to see which actor you’d chose to replace me as much as I dread this flight, I dread my substitute actor more.”

"My point exactly." She shook her head. "And may I remind you that you weren't the only one who doesn’t want to fly with Dublin Volchenkov? Anyways, whatever, let's get on the plane."

She grabbed his hand and pulled him to the check-out desk. Dimitri trudged all the way there, throwing mini-fits and tantrums, trying to stop her, but they eventually reached it. Damn. The flight attendant checked them off, and just before he stepped on the connecting tunnel, he turned to face the lady.

"Ma'am, is there any other solution to get to Chicago than by plane for that man up there?" he pleaded, pointing at the big mean-looking man. She looked at him herself unsure, but Kala stepped in.

"I'm sorry; my boyfriend is terrified of planes. Do you have anything at all to calm him down?" she asked in that polite, formal tone of hers. It was really hot. If they were a serious couple, Dimitri would want to just grab her face and start kissing…

Wait, what was he so anxious about? Oh. The damn plane. "Wait, Kala! Stop! No!" He realized a little too late that they were already stepping onto the plane. "No! No, no, no, no, no! Don't make me get on there with–" She pulled him really hard and he stumbled onto her into the plane.

She straightened out as the flight attendant greeted them. Dimitri, on the other hand, pouted and scrunched his forehead and swallowed down his protests.

Kala once again attempted to pull him further into the plane, but he stayed put. "Kala, I'm telling you, I am NOT going on this plane."

She grunted and squeezed his hand to a point where he didn't even know she could make his hand feel like exploding. "Dimitri Nikolaikov. Seriously. Give me a break. You're not gonna die, we're not gonna crash. Suck it up, and please just help me find our seats. Jeez, I sound like my freaking mother," she whisper-screamed.

Dimitri hung his head and groaned.

She sighed and continued walking down the plane aisle, hand-in-hand with him. It felt kinda better. "Look, I promise we won’t crash, we won’t get struck by lightning, taken over by terrorists, flown into any skyscrapers…and I certainly won’t let Dublin harm a hair on your body. Promise. Now come on,” she hissed through clenched teeth as she managed to shove him ahead of her now. “Why? I get a hot hero for a boyfriend and he's chicken like a little kid," she muttered, barely audible for him to hear.

Dimitri still heard it anyways. "I heard that," he responded, leaning to her ear to tell her that. She paused really briefly, but continued searching for their seats. He grinned when he saw her ears turn red from behind.

After what seemed an eternity, they finally found their seats. What Dimitri didn't get was why they had to be in the last row, away from the escape exits, and near the lavatories and flight attendance area. Now he was going to worry even more and become irritated by random strangers and flight attendants walking by, possibly running into his leg. And who knew? A monster could be on this plane as well.

Oh, damn, he thought, spiraling once more, Why didn't I think of that before? Monsters! Monsters could be on this very plane, like that one movie: Snakes on a Plane…oh crap.

"Hey, Kala?" he shook her arm and she rolled her head from the Sky Store magazine. Luckily they were separated from Dublin, who’d gotten stuck with this old man with a cold. The man kept sneezing and Dublin wasn’t happy at all from what Kala could see ahead. She giggled at the sight.

“Serves him right. Karma’s a bitch, ain’t it, Dubs?” she whispered.

“Kala?” Dimitri continued even though he saw the look on her face, "Have you ever thought that monsters could be on this plane? Like how we watched that movie, Snakes on a Plane? Or, that TV series, The Twilight Zone?"

She facepalmed herself. "Oh gosh, Dimitri, you need help buddy. What’s going on with you today? Normally you never freak out this much. Are you okay? You just need to shut up and settle down."

He put his hands up. "No, I will not shut up! You have to think this through! What if –" her lips collided with Dimitri’s, and it surprised him for a second there. He became momentarily distracted when it started to deepen. Intense…rhythmic…distracting…

They weren’t by any means a couple, but Kala cared for Dimitri like a brother…and yeah, a little bit of their on-set chemistry leaked over. But Kala wasn’t romantically interested in Dimitri, only acting like she was.

It surprised the male actor even more when he heard the pilot's announcement on the intercom. "Please make sure you have fastened your seatbelts, turned off all electronics, and all of your belongings are secured. Prepare for takeoff; we will be arriving in New York at around eight o'clock at night eastern time."

At that time, he felt the plane start to move. He quickly pulled away from her, leaving a saliva bridge between her and his own mouth – whoops, his fault – and looked down the aisle.

Sure enough, the lights were out, the plane was silent, and then it began rumbling. Once he felt himself lean back into the seat, he knew they were in full speed, heading down the runway.

There was no chance going back now.

"Kala, you are very manipulative…" he couldn't finish. He looked deep into her stormy eyes, and just couldn't finish it. "Curse you, I love you too much." He pouted.

She smiled and wrapped her arms around him. “Not like a lover, I hope. We already talked about this, buddy. But…I love you too Dimitri." She placed a kiss on his forehead and continued on what she started. “Now relax. Dublin’s busy…let’s go ahead and make-out, just this once, cause I care so much about you.”

Dimitri gave in, too, but he just couldn't help thinking to himself: This is going to be one, crazy-long flight, isn't it?

Also, Kala was totally in love with him.

She was in love with Dimitri, her co-star.

About four hours later, the plane finally touched down in Chicago, Illinois. Everyone exited the aircraft and Kala and Dimitri quickly grabbed their stuff and joined Dublin, who was shaking his head.

“You little bastards, I knew you were going to make-out. Hell, I could fucking hear you both moaning. Everyone could. I would’ve thrown you out, but Coughy had other ideas. Still, I hate you both. And, Kala stop kidding yourself, you’re in love with Dimitri. Now let get to the set, before I actually kill you both.”

They walked out of the airport and made it in record time to the set.

Notes

Sorry, I didn't get to update this one last update session, I've been getting progressively more busy. But I finally got to it, so here you go. :)
And yes, there is something wrong with Dimitri. Also, there isn't meant to be a serious relationship between Kala and Dimitri, but think whatever you want. But yeah, they obviously won't last. ;)

Next up: A Blackhawks Game (Kala meets Jonathan Toews)
