One week since the win to the Red Wings, the Stars found themselves on the second of a two game trip to the west coast and as promised Tyler didn’t miss a game. On Monday, the Stars received two points from there win against the ducks, and today the Stars prepared to take on the Sharks for the final time in San Jose.
As the boys prepared themselves for morning skate, I excused myself to use the restroom. One of the disadvantages of being a female working for a male team; they don’t have restrooms for you in the locker rooms. So I found myself wondering the tunnels of the SAP Center as I made my way back to the locker room.
“Do you need help?” A raucous voice rang out behind me. There was a slight Canadian twang to his words which made me believe he must be a player, and when I turned around my assumption was confirmed. “No, I think I got it,” I smiled up at the tall Sharks center and pointed to the locker room doors behind me.
“The Stars locker room,” his dark eyebrows pulled together as he looked down at me. “And what business do you have in there?”
“I’m the teams sport psychologist.” I beamed, because as much as I said that I still loved the way the words sounded as they rolled off my tongue.
“Oh,” he nodded, but I could see the confusion hidden in his dark eyes. “And what exactly does a sport psychologist do?”
“I’m like a mental coach…” I explained enthusiastically, much like I did with the boys the first time we meant and followed with a few examples of things that I’ve done with team.
“Wow,” he gave a low whistle as he leaned back on his heels. “So you’re stuck with those boys quite often then huh.”
“Sure am,” I laughed, “so I should probably be getting back…”
“Or I could give you a tour of the place,” he winked with a smile and my heart gave a leap of joy at the sound of that. “Get you a change of sensory for a bit.”
I took a deep breath because “as tempting as that sounds I have to be here if the guys need me.”
“In other words you are going to sit down there in case one of the guys’ needs you.”
“Yea, pretty much.” I confirmed.
“Okay,” he shrugged, “so what is the difference if you’re down there,” he pointed to the locker room, “or up there,” he pointed above us.
“Well when you put it that way…” I took a deep breath, “I’ll go talk to Danny and see what I can do.”
“Sounds good,” he grinned and I nodded before I turned around, but didn’t get very far before a hand was wrapped around my wrist. “I didn’t catch your name.”
“I’m Brittany,” I swallowed as he dropped my arm.
“Logon,” he said.
“Yea, I know.” I told him before I disappeared through the locker room doors.

So with Danny’s approval I found myself on a tour of the SAP Center escorted by none other than Logan Couture. He took me thought the tunnels under the building before taking an elevator to the first floor. We talked until we found ourselves on the highest level, in the standing room section of the building. I leaned on the ledge, Logan next to me as we looked down at the ice, where the boys were finishing up morning skate with some shots on net.
“This is amazing,” I took in a deep breath as I took it all in. There was just something about the smell of popcorn and ice mixed together and the sound of skates on the freshly zambonied iced.
“It really is isn’t it?”
“Yea,” I agreed with a small nod of head, not taking my eyes off the ice. “Thank you for convincing me to come with you.”
“Of course,” I could hear him exhale. “So I don’t know what you’re doing after this but I was wondering if maybe you’d like to grab some lunch or something…”
“Oh,” I bite my lip as I turned to Logan and the realization of what this was hit me. I can’t believe I didn’t realize it earlier, Tori would be so disappointed. “I…” I took a deep breath, “I have a boyfriend.” I confessed
He nodded with a shake of his head. “I should have figured, all the pretty, smart women are always taken.”
I nodded, my cheeks darkening. “Well I should probably get back down there, they’re almost done.”
“Yea,” he agreed as I made my way to the stairs. “I’ll see you tonight though, right?” He called as I got to the bottom of the level. I turned back around to look at him.
“Sure will,” I gave him one last nod before I vanished down the tunnel.

“Lover boy didn’t want to join you?” Tyler’s voice caught me off guard. After leaving Logan I wondered back down to the lower level, which is where Tyler found me now, scrolling through my pictures on my phone.
I took a deep breath as Tyler plopped into the seat next to me.
“So what did he want?” The jealousy dripping off of Tyler’s words was evident.
“Nothing Tyler,” I shook my head as I turned off my phone. “He took me for a tour of the stadium, we talked and...” I trailed off wondering if I really needed to tell Tyler all this.
“And what Brittany?”
I took a deep breath, was it really worth telling Tyler and possibly ruining his game tonight or just letting it go, but at the same time I didn’t want to be keeping secrets from Tyler. “And he asked me to lunch.”
Tyler didn’t say anything as he took one deep breath. “And what did you tell him?”
“I told him I have a boyfriend.”
Tyler nodded as if that was all the confirmation he needed to hear. “I’m sorry Brittany. I know we talked about this before.” Tyler took another deep breath. “It’s just… I…” Tyler opened his mouth but nothing came out. He shook his head again before he turned to me. “I just don’t know what I’d do without you.”
I shook my head with a smile. “You don’t need to worry about that Ty. I don’t know what I’d do without you either. Just promise me that you’ll relax. I hate having to explain myself every time I talk to someone.”
Tyler nodded.
“Now I would give you a kiss but we are kind of in a public place so that’s probably not the best idea. You never know whose watching.” I gave Tyler one last smile as I stood up and pushed my way past him.
