Arrow Hawk: Birth of the Hockey Avengers

Back at Quick Save’s lair,

The door to Val's hostage room opens again. Red Wing enters, dragging in a struggling Sabrebow. His archery equipment is stripped from him and then Red Wing clamps two metal chain handcuffs on him. Sabrebow fights back but Red Wing eventually attaches a chain leash to him and yanks him over to the corner of the room, opposite where Val is.

Val watches as Sabrebow is bolted to the wall. Red Wing chains his legs with difficulty - given that Sabrebow kicks at him and knees him in the face. But the villain gains success and manages to trap the hero's legs and restrain him.

“Ya trebuyu, chtoby vy menya otpustili seychas! Zvezda naydete nas i vzyat' vas! Gryaznyye Red Wing svoloch'!” Sabrebow shouts.

Red Wing chuckles. “I may not speak Russian, but you're a little frustrated. Don't worry, you're just here to keep –” He points to Val. “Him company!”

The villain ruffles Sabrebow's hair and then slaps his cheek and turns to walk over to Val. Val flashes Sabrebow a sympathetic look.

Sabrebow pulls at his chains, instinctively and too tired and worked-over to care about the electric shock. “What you do to him?”

“You'll know soon enough,” Red Wing sneers.

Val looks at the winged villain with fright.

“Shouldn't be too much longer now, sweet baby Russian. Soon Quick Save will return and finish his plan…and there’s not really anything you can do about it.” Red Wing exits the room once again, cackling to himself.

Suddenly the villain shrieks and there’s a loud thudding sound as he hits the wall hard outside the room. A few seconds later the door opens and Zvezda darts in.

“Oh, slava Bogu! Zvezda, ya nikogda ne byl tak schastliv videt' vas!” Sabrebow exclaims.

“Khorosho videt', chto ty tozhe normal'no, Nikita! Come on, let's get you both out of here!” She runs to Val first and removes the cloth from its place. “It’s a good thing that I got that tracking device on you, Zady!”

“Spasibo, Zvezda!”

Zvezda tosses the cloth to the side and winks at him. “You know already that I can't let anyone get away with kidnapping you, hero or mortal. You're my boyfriend, Val and I'll never let anything happen to you, even as Arrow Hawk.”

Arrow Hawk grins. But then he drops his head down. “You call me Arrow Hawk...but villains say I no superhero...”

“They're wrong, Val! You're every part a hero!”

“Yeah. I knew you come save me too. Villains say they get away with their plan, but you too good. They just try to make me lose hope.”

“That's great, but how do I get you outta this?”

“You should get Nikita first.”

“I will. You're my number one priority though.”

Arrow Hawk lifts his arms up and braces for the electric shock. He screams in pain as the electricity zaps into him and then he looks at Zvezda, who is horrified. “It hurt. I don't think there is an escape...at least not by me, uh, how you say it...?”

“You can't pull free?”

“Uh, yeah. Otherwise I get zapped and it hurt. It worse pain than playing on ice with bad hip.”

“I'll get you out, just stay still and don't move. And I guess I'll get Nikita now.”

She turns and dashes over to Sabrebow, who has been struggling nonstop. She unclamps the chains from his legs and then removes them from his wrists.

Then she grabs Sabrebow's hand and leads him to some kind of control panel. (She'd missed this before.) She looks over the buttons and finds the one she wants. She presses it and Arrow Hawk bravely lifts his hand up.

Nothing happens. Arrow Hawk smiles. “You do it!”

Zvezda releases Sabrebow and hurries back to Arrow Hawk and yanks him free of the machine and his restraints. They immediately embrace each other.

Arrow Hawk and Zvezda then turn to Sabrebow who has his bow and arrows once more. He has Arrow Hawk's as well. He tosses them to him. Arrow Hawk catches them and puts his archery stuff back on.

“Alright, good. The hockey hero archery duo is back, now let's get the hell out of here. We need to get back to the main battle. Patrick, Jonathan, Jamie and Tyler need us.”

Arrow Hawk and Sabrebow grin and flick their folded up bows out before them. The bows open up to their "bow" form and then they share a look.

“I help. I in this anyway. That okay, Val?”

“It fine Nikita. More archer the better!” He laughs.

Zvezda motions to them and they exit the room and dart down the hallway. Red Wing is still unconscious and slumped against the wall just outside the room. Zvezda leads them out of the lair and tower.

They burst outside and run down the street, just as some of Quick Save's henchmen spot them escaping and give chase. Zvezda spins around and shoots her cosmic energy at them. Sabrebow and Arrow Hawk work to shoot their arrows at them. It seems to stop them dead in their tracks and the trio manage to escape.

“Where are we?” Arrow Hawk asks.

“North of the battle. I'm gonna have to deactivate my hero look, so you two better act like bodyguards, okay?” Zvezda responds.

Sabrebow laughs. “Yeah, sure. Hey, you save us, now we get save you.”

Zvezda laughs as well but then frowns. “Not exactly, but I can't carry you both, so we'll have to hop on a train car or shuttle bus...with the mortals.”

Arrow Hawk nods and hangs his bow on his shoulder. “Fine.”

Zvezda faces Sabrebow, who is picking at the head of one of his arrows. “Meaning, Nikita, no shooting arrows at people.”

“Hey, that man said I wear dress and then mock my Russian accent. He deserve it.” Sabrebow folds his arms, careful of his bow.

“Just ignore them and behave.”

“Okay.”

Zvezda turns back to Arrow Hawk now. “And you, please don't let anyone touch your bow.”

“I sorry. The little girl seem nice and I hockey player, so I didn't want be mean to her.”

“Yes, you're nice, but think about it, she could be a disguised villain. Can't drop your guard.”

“You right. I be careful.”

Zvezda deactivates her look, via her Star symbol and they hop onto a transport bus, heading toward the battle. They get off and race toward the battle.

Zvezda powers her look back up and they launch into action, joining the others. She spots Canuck sneaking toward an unsuspecting Captain Blackhawk, who is battling one of the robots.

“Val, shoot an arrow at Canuck! CB needs help! I’m too far away to get an accurate aim,” Zvezda shouts.

Arrow Hawk spins and aims his already loaded bow at the villain. It hits its target squarely. Canuck stumbles and Captain Blackhawk whirls around and blasts him with a fireball from his mouth. He eventually spots the arrow and looks up, smiling.

“Welcome back Russian! Nice shot Val!” the Blackhawk screams.

Arrow Hawk nods and then bounds away, shooting arrows at robots now. He does some cool gynamstics moves over cars and debris. He joins Sabrebow and they go back-to-back shooting off rounds of arrows together.

Zvezda shoots some robots with her cosmic energy. They continue to battle until a loud scream sounds. It's Showtime. He is doubled over on the ground, holding his arm and covering his face. His stick is on the ground.

Captain Blackhawk is busy breathing fire at robots, unable to help out at the moment. Zvezda darts over and orders him to get the blond to safety. While Captain Blackhawk does so, she takes care of a few robots going after them. He scoops Showtime up and snatches up the hockey stick as well. They take shelter behind a car, safely out of sight.

Zvezda battles the robots back but more swarm at them. “Hockey Avengers, assemble! Retreat!”

Star Vision and Scorpion get the hint and immediately dart over to the overturned car where Captain Blackhawk and Showtime are.

Zvezda flees as well, shouting out, “Nikita! Val! Come on!” She dives behind the car with Star Vision, spotting Scorpion with Sabrebow and Arrow Hawk.

Scorpion races over to his friends, who are hiding behind the overturned car on the main highway in Chicago that runs over the river. They are on the Eastern side of the river. He jumps to safety without Sabrebow or Arrow Hawk with him. There is an explosion behind him.

Captain Blackhawk is hovered over Showtime protectively, covering him with his black and red wings and shielding him from any debris of flying particles from the battle scene. The blond hero is bleeding pretty badly from a cut on his face and he is gripping tightly to his hockey stick, which he uses for his weapon.

“There's too many of them! And Kaner's hurt!” Captain Blackhawk shouts, looking down at his friend.

“I'm fine Jonny.” Showtime is shaking though and he cringes as another booming explosion happens.

Scorpion draws out his two guns and holds them up at ready. “We got this, boys...and darling Ev.”

Zvezda looks at each one of them. Beside her and next to Scorpion, is Star Vision. “Wait, where's the archers?”

“Dammit! They were right behind me...!” Scorpion peers around the car, just as a piece of metal, like part of a car door, flies in his direction.

“Tyler, language!” Star Vision scolds.

Scorpion jerks back as it crashes to the ground and sends sparks into the air. He mouths, ‘screw you’...only not ‘screw’. He then peers out again. “The two of them are surrounded by robots and it doesn't look good. There's someone in the middle with them, but I can't see who it is.” He attempts to lean out more to get a better look.

“Jamie, would you get your teammate please before he gets himself and us killed!” Zvezda sighs.

Star Vision sighs and grabs Scorpion, pulling him back. The secret agent and spy for the team gasps and reports his news. “They've been captured, but I don't know who captured them!”

“Great! Not again!” Zvezda exclaims and shakes her head.

“Jonny, I'm fine, come on, you don't have to protect me all the time anymore!” Showtime shoves Captain Blackhawk backward, mustering his courage once more. “It's Showtime baby!” He raises his stick up and darts from the car's protection.

“PATRICK, NO!!” Zvezda and Captain Blackhawk shout in unison.

Showtime begins twirling his stick in his hands as he walks forward. He is swinging his swords around and deflecting bullets, while kicking butt. He is able to cut off any airborne projectile thrown in his direction by whacking it with his blade and using his superhuman hand-eye coordination.

“Screw hiding. Patrick's got the idea!” Scorpion yanks himself free from Star Vision's hold on him. He darts from behind the car and begins firing off rounds in front of him.

Star Vision shrugs and somersaults out of hiding. With his "star vision" he zaps beams of starry green light at the enemy, joining Scorpion's side eventually.

“I gotta help Kaner out, you know the rules. Let's just fight and save the archers!” Captain Blackhawk races out from behind the car now. He flaps his wings behind him and dashes forward to backup Showtime. He shoots out flames of fire from his mouth as he screeches really loudly like a hawk.

Zvezda leans against the car and sighs. “Guess we're really doing this.”

She jumps up and zooms into the air. From where she is, she can spot the entire battle going on below. She swoops down and begins to pick off the villain army robots one-by-one, shooting balls of contracted cosmic energy at them. The human-sized androids blow up instantly.

Ahead of them, Arrow Hawk and Sabrebow are chained together on a small square platform. The platform is wooden and raised up off the ground by a few feet. They are raised up almost like they are being displayed to the city of Chicago - or the heroes. There is a force field trapping them inside. The two Russian archers are struggling and pulling at the chains, which are wrapped around their wrists and upper arms and then attached to two metal anchors bolted to the platform. Their quivers and bows are scattered on the ground at their feet.

Captain Blackhawk's hawk screech comes and then a big blast of fire hits a group of robots. Showtime spins his stick around, not tiring at all and slicing through a line of robots with a loud battle cry. There is no sign of his injury anymore.

Meanwhile, Star Vision and Scorpion are back-to-back now, fighting more robots. They have a pretty swell duet going together. Just like on the ice. Well...until Zvezda sees the robots advancing in larger numbers and overpower the spy. “TYLER!!” She zooms down and plucks off the robots, helping him out, but they knock the guns from Scorpion's hands and, while Zvezda is busy and distracted, the "robots" drag a kicking and furious Scorpion away from the scene. “Tyler, hang on!” Zvezda blasts two robots away from her, before charging after the ones holding Scorpion.

However, before she can reach them, one of the robots shoves Star Vision into her path. The captain for the Dallas Stars catches himself and shoots concentrated beams of starry energy at the metal men. Zvezda is caught distracted by this, seeing that Star Vision is busy with his own set of robots.

The heroine chances a quick glance back to Scorpion, but the Dallas forward is gone. Vanished. She whips up a cosmic cloud of rage, which obliterates the robots closing in on her and she shoots back into the air. The small group of heroes need help. They may be winning the battle, but if the robots pick them off one-by-one…

Zvezda pauses in the air and looks around the battle scene. “Jamie, Hockey Avengers! Tyler's gone. Hold 'em off and continue battling, I'm going to get some help and look for the troublesome spy!”

“Great, Z, we'll do our best!” Captain Blackhawk shouts, while battling. “WE GOT THIS!”

“Yeah!” Showtime and Star Vision add on.

Zvezda zooms off, away from the scene. She has faith that the three can battle through, while she goes for the help. So she flies as fast as she can to Colorado.
