Somebody to Love

Chapter 1

A couple years after finishing school and working as a music teacher's assistant at my elementary school back home, I came back to Pittsburgh. A job offer came to me and I couldn't refuse it; I would have a higher salary and would be a full-time music teacher at a nearby elementary school. To say the least, I was psyched. I loved teaching music to kids because I knew how much I loved it when I was in school. I was also pumped to be able to go to Pens games. Yep. I'm a huge hockey fan. Luckily for me, a close friend of mine, who knew I loved hockey, yet couldn't afford them, got me season tickets. I could've not been any happier and I still feel the same. I still hadn't received them, though Ally said someone was going to deliver them, but she said that it was a surprise and they'd come the day after I moved in, which would be tomorrow. I had to admit, I was highly impatient. For the rest of the day. I spent my day unpacking boxes and putting items away in their desirable places. By the time I finished all I had to do, it was midnight, so I changed, brushed my teeth and headed to bed for a good night's sleep.

The Next Day-Noon

Since today was the day that I would receive my tickets, I wore my Fleury jersey. In just a few hours, my tickets would arrive and I'd be so much happier. When I heard the doorbell ring, I was in my room, which wasn't too far away. I walked at a normal pace and answered the door. The person on the other side was none other than Marc-Andre Fleury. I could've melted right then and there, not to mention I was star-struck, but I managed to keep my composure. Finally, I spoke.

"Hi."

"Hey, you must be Bella."

"Yes. I am. Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too."

I was never one to be so shy, in fact, I was quite outgoing, but today, I'm the absolute opposite; I have no idea why, though.

"Would you like to come in?" I asked.

"Very much so, thanks. It's so hot out today."

I smiled and let him in. I almost forgot how hot it was outside.

Bella, you're an idiot.

"Bella?" Marc asked.

"Uh, yeah? Sorry."

"That's okay."

I felt so embarrassed. Hopefully, my cheeks weren't as a red as a tomato. I sighed and smiled.

"It looks like you just moved in."

"Yeah, yesterday."

"How did you order/buy tickets in time?"

"My best friend, who oddly enough doesn't like hockey at all, bought them for me since I couldn't afford them."

"Wow."

"Yeah. I couldn't afford them because I just got a new job here."

"Where did you get a new job at?"

"At a local elementary school as a music teacher."

"Awesome job! Where'd you go to school?"

"Duquesne University."

"Was it hard to get into?"

"Very. You had to have straight A's and an outstanding SAT score."

We spoke for a while until he had to leave. Once the limo was out of the driveway, I sat on the couch and looked at my tickets. The first game was October 2nd against the NY Rangers. This was going to be an awesome game. I couldn't wait, but I knew I had to wait a long while; I could deal. It wasn't like I was going to die of anticipation. After going through all of them, I put the box of tickets in a safe place in my room. They didn't need to be stolen. Afterward, I laid on my bed and called Ally.

"Hello?"

"Hey, what's up?"

"I got my tickets today."

"Ooh! Who delivered them?!"

"Marc-Andre Fleury."

"Oh! Really?"

I rolled my eyes.

"Don't act like you don't know."

"I'm not acting, Bella."

I still didn't believe her.

"Yeah...sure. Ally, your acting skills aren't worthy of a Golden Globe."

"Fine. You caught me."

I laughed briefly.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"I wanted it to be a surprise, as I said."

"Fair enough."

"Anyways, how did it go?"

"Amazingly. I wore my Fleury jersey. I was caught by surprise, and I actually felt shy and nervous! That is so unlike me!" I exclaimed.

"Did you at least talk to him?!"

"Of course I did. Dumbass."

"Geez....chill."

"Sorry."

"It's okay. Anyways, how awesome was it?"

"Didn't I already tell you?"

"Oh yeah, but how awesome was Marc?"

"He was really sweet and funny, even more so with that accent of his."

"Aw...that's so cool."

"Yeah..."

"Do you have a crush on him?"

"Are you serious?"

"Yeah."

"No, but he's so cute, if you want the truth."

She squealed and I couldn't help, but laugh.

"Do you want to go out on a date with him?" I asked.

"No, but I was thinking maybe you would. You do know how long you've gone without a boyfriend, let alone gone out on a date."

She was right about one thing: I haven't had a boyfriend in nearly two years. My heart was broken by the man who I thought that I was going to spend the rest of my life with. Boy, was I wrong. The night I thought he was going to propose, he told me that he found someone more beautiful than me. That "someone" turned out to be a blond, stick thin woman with a fake bake tan, blue eyes and happened to be a couple inches taller than me. That put me down for quite sometime.

"Yeah...that I do know."

"I'm just suggesting that you go out on a date with some guy."

"I'll see what I can do."

"That's my girl!"

I laughed.

"Anyways, I have to go." I said.

"Ok. Talk to you later."

"Bye."

"Bye."

Once I hung up, I walked back to the kitchen for a quick snack. While I was eating, I began looking over stuff about the school and printed out directions. It would take me only fifteen-twenty minutes to get there, since I lived in Coraopolis. I heavily sighed. Tomorrow was going to be a long day, but I didn't really mind. That night, I fell asleep soundly with only happy thoughts crossing my mind.
