Overlooked

"Shhhh, stop crying sweetheart. This could be a good thing. You and him are finally at least getting it out in the open." He said, handing me a tissue. "Wouldn't you rather know if this will work rather than keep it all to yourself? Joff can be a douche with women but he has always treated you differently. He would never intentionally hurt you."

"And then I got Luke texting me apologizing and saying we need to talk." I said, clearly showing my frustration. Seriously fuck my life Colby." I said, earning a small chuckle from him.

"Now you know you are going to have to talk to him. You had a relationship with him. You see him all the time. I know you are pissed off at him but you can't avoid him forever. Go see him, see what he has to say. Think it over while we are away. Gotta make the hard decisions sometimes sweetheart. I'm friends with both of them and so are you. It's tough. Luke and you were real good together up until all of this, but I know how you feel about Joff. Just remember it's not your job to play Mommy to him. He is a big boy. Make him take care of you for a change if you go that route." He said, definitely making me think.

I sat for a few moments silent before laughing. "You could always introduce me to the kid and I could move to Pittsburgh and avoid all of this drama." I said and he snickered.

"I may just have to keep you away from hockey players Car." Not all of them are as good as me. Lucky Mel." He said, ruffling my hair like I was four. I stood and gave him a hug.

" Thanks lovie. I'll call you and let you know how talk number two goes. Seriously, you should really find me a non Maple Leaf guy to get with." I said, managing another smile.

"Out, go do your thing woman." He said authoritatively as he walked me to my car.

I sat in my car for a few minutes once he went back inside. I was mentally exhausted, but needed to go see Luke. I drove there and texted him as I parked. He came down and let me in, looking drowsy, cell phone to his ear.

"Bray, let me call you back, Carly just showed up." He said and he tossed the phone aside as we entered his place. He wrapped me in a hug.

"You are freezing." He said, rubbing my arms. I just sighed annoyed he even had his hands on me like things were normal. We sat in his kitchen at the breakfast bar.

"So you know I'm really sorry. I fucked up big time. I let some shit get to me and get inside my head." He said quietly. I didn't even know how to respond.

"What got to you to make you want to intentionally hurt me Luke, cause I don't get it? Not only did you hurt me, you humiliated me in front of your family, your teammates and Bray's teammates." I said, more angry than upset at this point.

"I found out Lupul was trying to get with you. Overheard him at the bar talking to Hartnell and telling him that he tried to hook up with you. It ate at me all night. Amelia and I were kids when we were together. I don't know why anything happened. I didn't want to hook up with her, I was just angry at you. I know how you feel about him."

I was furious. "Seriously, you are that immature. I stopped going near Lupes when I was alone just to ensure it didn't bother you. He may have some issues but I gave up my best friend in Toronto for you. That's how much you meant to me Luke. Once I got to know you, I didn't want anyone else. I finally felt secure in a relationship. I trusted you. Did you happen to hear him tell Hartnell how I threw him out? Told him I was happy for once and deserved a guy like you? What a fucking joke I am now. Good luck on your road trip Luke. Hope you're grown up enough to leave your issues and insecurities out of the locker room." I said, standing.

He stood and tried to hug me and apologize again. I just walked passed him and towards the door. I waited until I got to my car to break down and lose it. Fuck this, who needed men.
