A Second Chance at Love

Friday, I woke up excited. Tonight was the night I was taking Carson to his first Phillies game. Mike had came through with awesome tickets and passes for the clubhouse after the game. I knew he was the baseball fan in the family and I think any eleven year old boy would have been excited at a chance to go to a playoff game and meet some of the players.

Once they boys got home from school, I took Ryan over to Danny’s house and picked up Carson. Danny was taking them bowling and out to dinner. Carson was bubbling with excitement. We stopped at the sporting good store and bought a ton of Phillies gear and headed to the park.

It was a great night and I got to know him a lot better. We got home late, it was after eleven. Danny and Ryan were asleep on the couch, a movie playing in the background. I made Carson go up and I looked around for Claude. He wasn’t home yet. I decided to just go upstairs and sleep. I climbed into Danny’s bed and fell asleep before my head hit the pillow.

I woke up to his arms around me and him sucking on my neck. He kissed the tip of my nose and slid his hands under my tshirt. He pressed a finger to my lips signaling me to be quiet and disappeared down below the covers. His mouth was creating havoc on my body and I had to cover my mouth to stay quiet. I pulled him up towards me and rolled on top of him. It wasn’t long before his fingers were digging into my hips and I collapsed against him in bliss. We laid there for a few minutes before he whispered in my ear, “Raina, lemme get up. The boys are all up. I’ll go make breakfast. Get a shower and come down.”

I got ready quickly and went downstairs. Cameron came over and gave me a hug. “Good morning Rainy, did you and Daddy have fun on your sleepover?”

Claude snickered from behind the morning paper and I punched him in the shoulder. I looked up and Danny and he flashed me that signature smile. I guess he wasn’t planning on helping me answer that one. Thank god Cam got distracted by Caelan throwing a football by him.

We decided to hang out around the house for the day. Caelan was practicing with Ryan, trying to get him ready for his first practice which was less than a week away. Carson and Cam had decided to build a lego fortress. Danny and I were busy trying to reorganize his den. I laughed as I looked through the boys pictures. “Aww they are so cute when they are little like this. I miss this age.” I said looking at a pic of Danny holding Caelen when he was first born.

“Me too Raina.” He said, kissing my forehead. I was trying to picture Ryan being that small and I couldn’t remember. It seemed so long ago.

Not long after we ordered pizza and ate, James called us. They were going to a club in North Jersey and he wanted us to go. Danny let him know we just decided to spend time with the kids.

We ordered a movie and threw lots of blankets and pillows around the living room. Danny, Ryan and Cam were asleep twenty minutes into the movie. I waited for the other two to fall asleep before cuddling next to Danny and letting myself drift off to sleep. Around three o'clock, I woke up to the flash of a camera. Jeff, Mike, Claude and Carcillo were whispering and taking pics of us all laid up on the floor. I gave him the finger and rolled back over to go to sleep. I could lay in his arms forever and never get tired of it. I felt so safe and warm.
