A Second Chance at Love

Thank god she shook her head so quickly. “I didn’t think so Raina. Please don’t be so upset. I’m happy for us. We are going to have two beautiful children to add to our family.” I wiped the tears from her face and kissed her.

“Aren’t you scared? I thought you were going to be so upset. Our life is already so insane",she asked. Her face started to brighten up.

“Sweetheart, I think after you have three, adding more to the mix won’t make much difference. Besides, we will do it together. When I am away we will get help for you. We will figure things out, together” I couldn’t wipe the stupid grin off my face.

“So I assume Mike and Kris know?” “Yeah, Mike actually was here when they told me. He almost passed out when I got the ultrasound.” . She leaned back against the pillow.

She was starting to regain color and breathe normally. "So when would your due date be?" I asked, curious.

“June 8th” she answered.

I couldn't help but groan, “only you Raina.”

The doctor had already told me they decided to keep Raina overnight because of the pregnancy, but would release Ryan if someone could take him. They promised me they would do another ultrasound so I could see it. Mike and Kris walked back in after the doctor left. Mike knew by my grin she told me. He gave me a huge hug. “Congrats man. You two deserve everything good coming to you.” I asked him to grab Claude so we could tell him. He just laughed. “I knew all that crazy and wild boom boom would catch up to you two.

“Raina, you should switch houses with me.” Claude commented.

Kris high-fived him. “Dude we could so use that bar in her basement.” I just laughed at the both of them.

“Listen Claude, I need you to do me a huge favor. The kids get out of school in an hour. I called Syl and she is gonna pick them up there. Caelan is taking the bus back with the rest of his class so he will be home around 8. They are releasing Ryan. Can you take him to the house and hang with him until visiting hours are over?"

“No problem man. Lemme introduce you to Megan real quick.” I went out in the hall to meet Megan.

Mike and Kris left a few minutes after Claude, Megan and Ryan left. Raina gave Ryan a million hugs. It was adorable. Mike warned me that we would probably get visitors. They all promised they wouldn’t tell anyone about the pregnancy. I wanted us to be able to share the good news with people.

The first person to stop by was Jeff. He looked scared entering the room. “Are you ok, Mike said you were ok. Why are they keeping you?” he asked her.

She smiled shyly at him. “They wanted to make sure everything stays fine with the babies.” He looked confused, then surprised. “Babies? my man Danny, super sperm strikes again.”

Only Jeff would come up with that. “Rainy, when are you due, what are you having and what the heck are you gonna do with six kids????” We just laughed together.

“She is due June 8th, we have no idea what she is having yet and we have no idea what we are gonna do, where we are going to live or how we are going to handle it, but we are excited.” I answered.

Raina feel asleep after he left. I checked with the Dr. and he said she could sleep as long as I kept an eye on her. Lavy came by. Once I told him the news he congratulated me and left a note for Raina telling her the same. Matt and Clancey stopped by. We talked in the hall for a while before they left.

I went back into the room and laid beside her on the hospital bed. I placed my hand on her stomach and prayed they’d be ok. The doctor came in to do the ultrasound. I woke her up gently. They decided to try and external ultrasound this time around. I swear I’ll kill Mike if he ever mentions the internal one to anyone. It didn’t take long before we heard the heartbeats. It was amazing to hear. I looked at her and she was all filled up. I held her hand.

“Well they look fine. Looks like you are having fraternal twins and your due date is going to be right around June 8th. Congratulations Mr. Briere. I printed a few of those for you.” He left after he handed me the pictures.

“I love you Raina.” I stated simply.

She kissed me and smiled. “So how the hell are we gonna tell the boys” she asked
