A Second Chance at Love

We arrived at the ballpark early on the day of the Winter Classic. The kids got to skate there the day before so they were excited to go back. Danny's mom had them all quieted down and sitting in their seats. I ran down to the concession stands. Waiting for the drinks to be poured I felt someone staring at me. He looked shocked. He was staring at my stomach in disbelief. Jared, whom I recognized from pictures, was with him. They started over towards me. I cursed under my breath as I remembered he wasn't cleared from his injury yet.

The concourse was packed with people and Jordan was easily recognizable. "How are you Rainy? You look good. You are glowing." I wanted to punch him in the head for all of the crap he started, but I didn't want to attract attention.

"I hope you have a wonderful life." He leaned over and kissed me on the mouth. I didn't expect it. It surprised me so much I kind of froze on the spot. I shook my head and walked away.

People were looking at me and I just put my head down. I knew someone had to have recognized me. I wasn't that lucky. Dan was gonna have a fit. I so did not need this.

As soon as the game started and the boys were engrossed I slid into a seat next to Pam. I told her what had happened. I was near tears by this point. She looked upset. "He is such a douche. He knew what he was doing. Don't worry, Dan will know you didn't do anything." She whispered to me.

"Pam, it looked a lot worse than it was. I didn't expect him to do it. I kind of froze. He is gonna lose it if he hears about it." I didn't know whether to tell him or pray he didn't hear about it. I could barely focus on the game. He was playing well and all I could think about was Jordan.

The game ended in a 5-2 win. We made our way down to the locker room, where the guys had already made plans to go out to dinner "You ok love, do you feel alright?" he asked me, elated after the win.

"I'm ok, a little tired." I responded. I didn't want to tell him with Maman and the boys standing right there. We drove to the restaurant in silence.

Once inside, he pulled me aside. "What's the matter Raina?" I told him we would talk later. Dinner was loud, the guys were super excited about the win. About halfway through dinner Danny got really quiet and I knew he had found out. He looked up and glared at me.

"We need to talk now." He said, loud enough for the table to hear. Most of the guys stared as I excused myself from the table.

We got outside and all hell broke loose. "What the fuck Raina, feeling guilty?" he said loud enough to attract attention on the crowded Philadelphia street.

I looked at him and pleaded "Not here Danny, please."

He just shook his head. "I can't believe I ever thought that this was going to work." He hit the wall with his fist and walked back into the restaurant.

A minute or two later Danielle and Maman came out with the boys. She pulled me aside. "What happened? He asked me to watch the boys for the night. He looks enraged."

I just gave her a look. "You brother has no faith in me." I started to walk down the street alone.

Mike caught up with me a block down. "Let's go. You don't need this now." We got into his car.

"What the hell Mike. I need to at least explain to him what happened." I was fuming.

"Raina, Pam already tried. He needs time to cool off. He isn't listening to anyone right now." he said quietly.

"So where is he going?" I asked him. "He was headed towards the bar with Carcillo and Claude. I made Jeff go with him. I don't need him trying to go after Staal tonight." We made it to Mike's place pretty quickly.

I tried to call Danny but his phone was off. Mike handed his laptop to me and pulled up the site someone had sent Danny. It was a cell phone picture of Jordan and I, his lips on mine. The caption read "He scored on the ice, she scored with his rival. "
