A Second Chance at Love

I woke up to yelling and laughter coming from downstairs. A glance at the clock told me it was just about 9 am. I started to stretch out and Danny opened his eyes. "Mmm this is a nice change. He kissed me on the forehead and wrapped the blanket around us tighter.

We laid in silence for another ten minutes or so until Claude yelled up the steps. "Going to get coffee Dan, u want me to grab u a cup?"

"How do u drink drink it" he whispered softly. I let him know cream and sugar was fine. "You better throw something on." He got up and threw shorts and a t-shirt at me with a knowing smile. "i'll take two, one black, one regular" he yelled down to his housemate.

"No fucking way" Claude amusingly yelled up the steps. I could hear a few whistles and cat calls.

"You know you can't hide her up there forever Dan." Kris yelled.

"I wanna know who it is, so I'm giving you two minutes to get presentable or I will break the door, another voice boomed.

"Jeez Danny, your teammates are nosy and oblivious." I said while getting dressed. I was surprised. I knew Max had seen us leaving. For once he kept his big mouth shut. I was impressed.

I grabbed my cell phone. Surprisingly I only had four missed text messages. Max had sent two. They read "Haha I knew eventually you would land a hockey player and I hope u didn't change the sheets on your bed. Luv ya" Sid had sent me one not long after that telling me to have fun and be careful. Jordan's was sent in the wee hours of the morning and said only two words "Why him".

I shut off the phone and grabbed Danny's hand. "Ready for this?" he asked me.

"Why not, let's get it over with" I said while gripping his hand tighter.

I didn't get down four steps before Claude grabbed me and carried me to the couch.
"I knew it" Carcillo boomed from the kitchen. Kris just laughed and gave his teammate a high five.

Richie finally silenced them by yelling loudly "Really how old are u guys?" I smiled at him and walked toward the kitchen.

I opened the fridge looking for something to make for breakfast. I grabbed the eggs and butter out of the fridge. "And she cooks, Danny boy I might have to steal her" Kris yelled.

Mike walked by me and whispered into my ear "may wanna put something on that neck, it looks sore.

Kris caught on and yelled "Did you really need to take a chunk out of her neck.? " Danny started to turn red and looked away. I just kept on cooking, ignoring the comments they threw at me.

By the time I finished the breakfast, Claude had returned with my coffee. We sat down at ate and I couldn't help but smile to myself. Claude caught it. "Good night Rainy, eh" he laughed.

"Might have been an even better morning, thanks for ruining it big mouth" I shot back. Kris spit his juice out and the table erupted in laughter. I got up, threw my plate in the sink and grabbed Danny's hand. "I gotta go, they are leaving at noon and will kill me if I don't spend a lil time with them.

He gave me a soft kiss. "What time are you kid-free until. " I let him know I wasn't due to pick up Ryan until 7 pm. "Listen you wanna go skate later. A lot of the guys and their families are gonna get together and play later on around 2 ." He looked at me hopefully.

"Ok, I can skate but I suck at hockey. " I answered truthfully. "No worries, its not a serious game and I will help you.". He gave me a quick kiss and I walked toward my house. I hoped that Jordan was still asleep. I wanted to ask Sidney if he had said anything after I left. I wasn't sure how he would act after reading the text.
