A Second Chance at Love

The guys went back to practice the next day. I was working hard planning this wedding. Danny’s teammates were great and most were able to attend. Danielle invited a select few from their hometown and I had a few people invited from my family. It wasn’t going to be more than one-hundred people and Jeff had ironed out all of the details on a gorgeous hall right outside of Sea Isle. Within two days I had invitations sent out. It was nice, I didn’t stress out about the series because I was so busy. I was really only stressed about getting rings, a dress for myself and Jolie and figuring out somewhere for Danny and I to go after. Danielle was acting as my maid of honor, while Mike was Danny’s best man. We didn’t have anyone else in the wedding. I gave free reign on Danielle for the color of her dress and the florist I had just would match everything to her dress.

After three days of shopping, I found something simple enough for the beach, yet elegant enough to get married in. It was white and flowy, came down to the floor and accentuated my chest which was still kind of swollen. For Jolie, I went with a simple white dress in chiffon with lots of ruffles. I found a bonnet to match. It was perfect and cool, so she wouldn't be hot during the actual wedding. I raced home after I bought the dresses. Game 2 was tonight and I had Maman and Danielle watching the kids was Danny was at the hotel. They were leading the Series against Vancouver and I hoped it would stay that way.

Game two went rather well. The guys left for Vancouver in phenomenal moods. The Canucks were ravaged with injuries and it really showed. We weren't having too hard of a time defending against them. I bought the rings from a little jeweler in North Jersey that James had recommended. I sent a picture of them to Danny after they lost game three. I hoped the thought of it would cheer him up. I knew they guys were worn out and ready for a break. In a way, I was happy they lost game three so I did not have to fly up there with all of the kids for game four. I was happy they were coming home, hopefully with a chance to finish this out and begin our vacation.

We watched game four at the house, all of us girls. We screamed and hollered and eventually celebrated a hard fought win. I missed Danny so much I could cry, I needed him home with me. The house, even with his family staying was quiet without him. He called me no less than ten minutes after they won. “Hey, I just wanted to say goodnight and I love you. I didn't want to miss your call while I’m in the air. “ I told him the same and spent the rest of the night relaxing with the girls.

He came home early in the morning. He was due at the hotel by six o'clock. I dropped the boys off at school and went back to the house. I kept the twins in the living room, trying to let him sleep as long as possible. I heard him get into the shower. Maman was in the living room and both of the babies were sleeping. I ran up the steps and entered the steamy room quietly. I quickly undressed and slid open the shower door.

He just shook his head at me. “Ninja skills Raina? I didn’t even hear you until you stepped in.

“I just want to be close with you. I miss you.” I mumbled as he put his arms around me and kissed the back of my neck. I sent chills through my neglected body.

He shifted uncomfortably, “What time is it Raina?” I glanced down at my watch and groaned.

“Ok, not happy at all Daniel” I said as we exited the shower and he dried off and fumbled around for clothes in our bedroom.

“Raina, I am so sorry, this will be over soon. One of us has to go pick them up from school, then, I have to be in Philly by six o'clock. I promise you after tomorrow night, I will spend and entire twenty-four hours pleasing you.“ I gave him a quick kiss and threw on a pair of shorts and a tank top.
