Intrigue

Chaos ensued as boxes were ripped open by the intended recipient. The first gift that was handed to me was a small box. It was from his mom and dad. I opened it and it was travel brochures for Saint Martin, and voucher for the plane and hotel. “This way you can take a break once the season is over. You will both need it by then.” said his dad, getting up and giving me a hug.

His parents and brother loved the gifts I had given them. His brother tossed me a card, laughing. “Never say I have not done anything for you Alex. I had to swallow my pride on that one.” I opened it and it was tickets to a Flyers game on a Sunday in the beginning of March. He also enclosed Brent’s schedule circling the days around it showing that he was off. I laughed and Brent groaned.

I gave Brent the snowboarding stuff to open. He loved it, and I got tackled onto the couch by him. I opened his stuff next, I got three Michael Kors gift sets which made me crack up. “Seriously, Brent you are obsessed. Why don’t you wear it?” He just smiled.

“Because it only smells good on you” he said handing me another box. He got me a lot of lotions, spa stuff and stuff he said was still hidden in his room, which I assumed to be lingerie. I also ended up with one of his jerseys he wore in the finals, which was so freaking cute. I kept a few gifts of my own hidden from him and decided he could have them later.

We laid around for an hour before he was impatiently pulling me up the steps to take a nap. I was exhausted, he wanted to exchange more gifts. The first few he gave me looked like clothes boxes. Sure enough lingerie came tumbling out of each of them. I just laughed. “Isn’t this a gift for you though?” I asked.

“Not when you see what I’m going to do to you in them” he said while winking. I hit him with the box as I opened the second to last gift. It was a diamond necklace. It was white gold and had a huge diamond pendant. I didn’t even want to venture how much something like that would have cost him but I was pretty sure I was wearing his new car around my neck.

I was so happy I got him the watch and I gave it to him next. It was a Rolex, but not overly expensive for the brand. I liked it because it had more of a sportier look to it. He liked it, so it was well worth the money. He wouldn’t let me open the last one, telling me I had to wait until later. We did finally lay down and relax for a while, although neither of us actually fell asleep.

He kept kissing my neck and telling me he loved me. “I want you Alex” he said, sliding my pajama bottoms off and him inside of me. It was slow, gentle and amazing.

There was so much emotion behind every move he made. “I really do love you too Brent.” We laid together for a long time silent. I think both of us probably had a million thoughts running through our heads.

We hadn’t been together long, but I know we both felt like we had been together forever. I was a little scared, hoping things would stay good like this. I was getting too invested, too quick in some ways. Falling head over heels in love with a guy who had women throw themselves at him daily. After a hour or so, he pulled me up off the bed. “Come on, let’s go back downstairs.”

We ended up going downstairs and his grandparents came by. They were really nice. His Grandfather was adorable and got so excited about hockey, telling Brent all the different plays he seen him in. His Grandmother was more reserved, hanging out in the background and taking everything in.

He asked me if I wanted to go for a walk. I bundled all up and we walked a few blocks and ended up in a wooded area with a small trail. After a mile or so we came upon a small waterfall . The ground still had several inches of snow. It was a beautiful sight, amazing and picture perfect. We sat down on a big rock and he kissed my forehead. “Merry Christmas sweetheart” he said smiling as he slid a thin, intricate braided white band onto my left hand’s index finger. “It’s just my promise to you that you have my heart and whenever you are ready I’ll replace that with something more appropriate. I know we haven’t been together long but I’m also a guy who knows what I want and you ground me Alex, you make me smile and I want to come home to you after road trips and want to see you in the stands watching my home games. I want one day for us to have children together and I know we will be happy and I’ll promise I will take care of you and you’ll never have to worry….” He started to ramble and I pressed my finger to his lips.

“I accept your promise. Now relax.” I said kissing him for a while before we got up and headed back towards the house.

His mom notice the band almost right away and gave me a small smile when we got back to the house. I was frozen from being outside for so long. She got up and made us hot drinks as we sat under a blanket together. “So when are you two flying back tomorrow?” she asked.

“Our flight is at 9 am. I have be back for an optional skate at 3 o’clock.” he answered. She asked me what I was up to for the rest of the holiday week. “I’m off until after the new year, but I’ll work from home all week. Besides, Brent is away in Dallas for New Year’s Eve. So I’ll just catch up on work and relax before I go back to work. I’m going to be crazy busy, I have two trials scheduled. It is insanity.”
