Intrigue

Brent had two home games this weekend, he was playing tonight and Sunday afternoon. He had just dropped his mom and dad off at the airport and had just laid down to take a nap. I had Madi in the living room with me and I was doing some wash and catching up on tv. Alan and I had met this morning and he thought I was making a mistake by taking a reduced role with the firm. He told me I was a good lawyer and that I was wasting time being home. It was hard to hear. I had worked very hard for my law degree but I knew that my family made me happy. I was ok with just working part of the time. It would give me something to focus my energy on besides kids. I started making lunch knowing Brent was due to get up soon. I was starving anyway and I’m sure Madi had to be getting hungry.

Brent rolled out of bed sleepily and came into the kitchen wearing nothing but boxer briefs. “Hey Madi” I said to her as she sat in the high chair. “Your daddy is so cute when he is sleepy.”

He leaned down and gave her a kiss and she got so excited. “See that babe, I still drive the girls crazy, even being old and almost married.” He said as he flexed his arms.

I just laughed as I handed him a plate. “Ok stud, so I expect two goals tonight. Madi and I want to cheer for Daddy, not Uncle Tazer this time. He flung a noodle across the table at me. Madi cracked up and promptly dumped her noodles onto the floor. “See that Brent. You are a bad influence.” I said smiling.

He grinned “Wait until we have some boys Alex, you are in trouble.”

I cleaned up everything once we were done eating. He was getting dressed to leave and Madi and I had some time to kill. Abby wasn’t going to the game. She hadn’t made many since Isabella was born. We gave Brent a kiss goodbye and I drove to the mall. I bought some candles and a few new books. I figured I had better think of some stuff to occupy my time now that I wasn’t working as much.

I tried on a few outfits and found some cute new clothes for the bedroom. I also found Madison new outfits, especially since it was getting nicer out. I looked down at my watch and realized it was five o’clock already. We raced home and got showered and dressed. I took my time and put on a pair of fitted jeans, a nice red shirt that was kind of revealing and actually did my hair and makeup. Madi got her Kaner jersey, jeans and a pair of red sneakers I had bought her. Once we finished getting dressed we headed for the game.

We got there and I took her right down behind the benches. She got so excited whenever she seen Jon or her Dad. She was still scared of Kaner, which drove him nuts. He appeared weekly at my house with a new present trying to bribe her. I think he was just too loud for her, although she seemed to like Duncan.

Corey was standing over by the benches and played with her for a little. He had off tonight, which was nice. He had been working really hard. There were a few girls sitting right near the benches and when Brent stopped to change sticks they were whistling and hollering at him. “See I told ya I’m still a hot commodity momma.” He said laughing.

Jon had stopped and just laughed with him. “You wouldn’t be able to feed yourself man. Besides, if you don’t want her, I’m taking her.”

Brent shook his head. “No way man. She’s my Milf.” They skated away laughing.

I went up to the box and sat down, talking to Corey’s new girlfriend Ericka. It was her first night sitting in the box and I had promised him I would sit with her. Some of the wives could be a little cold to the newer girls. I never had much time to hang out with any of them but Abby.

“Hey, I’m glad you made it. I’m Alex, Brent’s fiancée. This is Madison." She extended her hand shyly.

“So, I am so glad I talked Corey out of making me wear his jersey.” She said and I laughed.

“Most of the time I wear Brent’s. I also have a few of the other guys, you start building up a collection. Madi has about nine different ones. It is crazy.” She laughed. We got to know each other better during the game. The guys had a huge win which was nice.

I took her down to the locker room after the game to meet back up with Corey. We made plans to hang out on Sunday and Brent and I headed home for some much needed rest.
