Intrigue
Go After Her
Madi woke up and was raring to go by eight o’clock. I got up and took her to the kitchen and got her breakfast ready. I made her pancakes and sausage. “Daddy hug” she said as I put the plate on her tray. I leaned down and she kissed me on the nose.
“Love you princess.” I said to her and sat down next to her.
She looked up at me and smiled angelically at me. “Mommy work” she questioned. I knew she was used to Alex getting up with her now and not me.
I just gave her a hug and prayed that Alex was coming back sooner than later. I picked up my cell phone and realized it was off. I had three missed calls from Alex. I hit send and waited for her to answer. “Hey babe, sorry I didn’t realize my phone was off. Madi and I just got up. I made us pancakes and sausage and we are eating. We miss you.” I said, my voice shaking.
“Sounds good. I am just checking in to see how our daughter is. I love you Brent. Just please give me this break and I’ll be home on Sunday. My flight lands at one o'clock if you can meet me.” She hung up the phone quickly. I sat at the table with my head in my hands. I felt like I was losing her. My mom came into the kitchen and rubbed my back.
“It will be ok. You guys have some talking to do and you definitely have some apologizing to do. Smarten up Brent. You have a great girl who already is a wonderful mom. She adores you and will be there through thick and thin. Go get her Brent. That is what I would do.” I looked at my mom and smiled. I handed her Madison and went into my room to pack some clothes for overnight.
I left within 20 minutes, headed for the airport. Once I got there I realized the next flight wasn’t taking off for a while and would land in Philly right before the playoff game. I sent Mike Richards a text message and he called me back a few minutes later. “Ok, I left it at will call for you. Just give them your name.” he said. I told him good luck and hung up.
I landed with twenty-five minutes until game time. I hit the hotel and dropped my stuff off before heading towards the arena. I got there ten minutes after the puck dropped and realized I was the biggest idiot. I had no idea where she was sitting . I wandered around on the concourse waiting for the first period to end when I ran smack into Mike, who looked surprised. “Hey sexy. She is in the fourth row.” He said pointing to the entrance to the section we were standing in front of.
A few people noticed me when I walked into the section, hell even one guy booed me. She looked up at the commotion as more people started to recognize me and the boos rang out. I gave her a slight wave and she shook her head at me as a chorus of “Blackhawks suck” rang out. She stood up and walked up the steps to me in her Flyers jersey and threw her arms around me.
“Come on, come sit with us. We will make Mike sit in the extra seat in front of us.” She gave me a quick kiss and we walked down the steps hand in hand. Richards had just hit the ice for the start of the second and gave me a little wave.
Carter skated by and pounded the glass, smiling . I mouthed good luck to him and we sat down. The game was exciting. I was surprised how into it I got. I was sure there were several pictures going to hit the blogs tomorrow of me cheering for the Flyers. At that point I didn’t even care. I was enjoying something with my fiancée and having fun. That’s what life is all about. I only hoped we could talk tonight and get things straightened out so I could bring her home. I didn’t like spending not one night without her.
