Intrigue
Prayer
After the game I asked her to go grab coffee with me. “Honey, I’ll leave after we talk. I do want you to enjoy your time away, I just wanted to talk to you in person. It’s easier for me to express myself that way.” She agreed and we headed towards a diner.
Once we sat down and ordered, I grabbed for her hand. “I love you more than life itself. I kind of freaked out a little bit this week. Not about getting married, because I am so ready for that, but the whole second child thing scares me. I didn’t have a lot of time with Madi because of hockey and I’m scared Alex. I’m scared I’m going to leave too much on you or wake up one day and realize I missed most of my kids early years because of my job. I hate leaving you and Madi and going on road trips. It’s like the worst feeling in the world when I’m driving away, knowing I’m not there to be the dad and husband.
I won’t lie, I was in tears by the time I finished talking. She squeezed my hand. “Baby I am scared too. I feel like I don’t want to fail our children and I’m also scared because I don’t want Madison to ever feel like she is different because she isn’t mine. It scares me to death but I know no matter what, we are doing it together. Somehow together, we will make this work.”
She made a lot of sense. By working as a team we could make sure we pick each other up when we fall. “You are a very smart girl Alexa. I knew there was a reason I asked you to marry me.” I said to her slyly and she cracked up.
“Come on, let’s go back to the hotel I have. I need you.” She said to me as she leaned over the table and kissed me. It didn’t take more than those three words before I was pulling her out the door and down the street.
We walked hand in hand the few blocks to the hotel and went straight to her room. We made love for hours, only stopping when the wake-up call came that I had set to leave for the airport. “Come on baby. Let’s go home.” She said and she got up and headed towards the shower.
The flight home was so much better than the flight to Philly. I was relaxed, she slept against me almost the entire flight home. We landed and Keith picked us up from the airport. “Aww the love birds are happy again.” I just smiled at him as he hugged me which was rare for Keith.
We walked through the door in my mom’s house and my dad gave Alex a big hug. “Missed you pumpkin. Ready for full party planning mode?” he asked and she laughed.
“Umm Alex, I forgot to tell you. I wrote my vows. I kind of just did them and they flowed.” She smiled at me.
“Thanks Brent, give me something else to worry about” she said jokingly as she stuck her tongue out at me. I grabbed her by the hand and pulled her into the kitchen.
“Sit down. I’ll make you something to eat babe. You haven’t eaten since we got to the airport this morning.” Madison and my mom had just walked through the door. Alex went running to Madi and picked her up and spun her around.
“Hey little pumpkin” she cooed as she covered her in kisses. My mom threw me a thumbs up signal and I knew I was back in good graces all around. Alexa was now a part of the Seabrook family and that would never change.

Four weeks later I was giving her a kiss as we left on flights going in opposite directions for the weekend. She was headed to New York for her Bachelorette Party and I was head to Vegas with the guys for my Bachelor Party. My Mom and Dad had Madi for the weekend. Keith and I almost ran though the airport, anxious to get to Vegas. Keith wouldn’t tell me who was going to be there but I was excited and nervous.
Keith and I drank a lot on the plane, cracking jokes. By the time we were getting ready to land, both of us were fairly drunk. “Listen bro, I am really happy for you. Alex is great. Not even just with Madison but with you. I have a lot of stuff planned but I did honor your request about not too much with the strippers and stuff. We have a lot of people coming in for this. I can’t wait until you see how many people flew in.”
We took a cab to The Hotel at Mandalay Bay. While we were at the check in counter, we ran into Jon and Kaner coming down from their room. “Whoa, you even got Captain Serious to join in on some festivities. I’m impressed.” He just laughed at me
“Dude, like I would miss this for anything.” He gave me a hug and said really low to behave. I just laughed and let him know I planned on it.
“Ok, let put our stuff in our room and we got dinner to meet everyone in an hour” Keith directed me towards the elevator and to our room. We got dressed and headed downstairs for dinner. We walked in the restaurant and I had to smile. There were at present count, eleven people at a long table. Jon, Kaner, Sharpy, Soupy, Corey, Dustin, Versteeg, TJ, Carter, Richie and Duncan. From what Keith said at least three or four more were due in tonight at some point. After saying hi to everyone we sat down and ate dinner.
“So you really ready for this?” Steeger asked me as he handed me a ball and chain.
“Umm, yeah. I wouldn’t being having this party if I wasn’t.” I said laughing at him.
“Let’s go boys, party time.” Dustin said, directing us towards the door.
There were cars waiting for us and they took us to Scores, the famous Vegas strip club. I said a quick prayed no one would get arrested or killed as Duncan handed me a stuffed tiger and quoted The Hangover. We entered the club as I finished my short little prayer. God help me this weekend.
YAY! Such a sweet ending :)
