I find Sara with my friends and I instantly smile. I hear a chorus of there you ares. I have four best girl friends. Sara, Lila, Zoey, and Olivia. We have been friends since grade 3 when we are we're in the same class.
"where have you been?" Lila asks.

"I was looking for Damien when I met Mr hockey for the first time off the ice."

"was it love at first sight?" Zoey asks laughing.

"not at all. so we were talking then he went to get us some drinks when I see Damien, I run over to him and do the usual stuff but when I look at him he's glaring at me. He was mad I didn't tell him I have a boyfriend. It was Damien so then I stormed off and found you guys."

"do you think he wants to apologize?" Olivia asks.

"Liv, why the hell would he?"

"because I do." I hear behind me, I turn around to meet Jamie holding a water bottle to me. "do you guys mind if I take Mads away from you for a couple minutes?"

"just bring her back in one piece." Sara smirks and laughs.

We walk away to the back porch where there is a swing.

"I know it's cold but it's better for talking."

"Jamie-"

"no mads can I just talk for 2 minutes?"

"okay"

"Your brother really hated me, and I know you do to or maybe before you tonight you did. People say it was cockiness but in my mind it's confidence, you were the better hockey player today and I'm not saying that you would beat me all the time just that you were the better hockey player today and I respect that. But you have some false thoughts about me that I want to clear up. I live eat sleep hockey and dream of going to the NHL, next year I will play for Kelowna in the WHL and I'm so scared I'm going to mess it up and miss my chance at the NHL. I'm sorry for acting jealous and getting upset earlier, I have liked you ever since I saw you in grade nine. You were warming up for a game while I was heading to practice. It hurt that I knew you thought I was an asshole and it hurt seeing you with Damien. I know we have a really big rivalry on the ice but I want us to get to know each other off the ice."

"You can't like me."

Jamie scoffs. "And why is that?"

"You said it yourself you eat sleep hockey and dream about the NHL. If you say you like me than how would you have time for me? You need to focus on your dream of hockey and then fill the rest of your life in. It's like a puzzle, hockey is the middle of the picture, once you get the border you start to fill in and the picture starts to form."

"I'm a really good guy Mads."

"Why don't you show it to people?"

"Because they don't know the real me."

"Then let them know you. Jamie you may be a popular guy at school but no one knows you and has a true friendship with you."

"Can't you be my first friend?"

"I'm not sure. Look can I have your phone?" I ask and he hands me it. I put my number in. "Text me when you want to fill in the puzzle Jamie."

"But Mads wait." I get up and walk back to the party. Im supposed to hate him, but I don't know whats wrong with me that I don't.

It was three days until I received a text. I got it doing some homework, it read 'When can I take you up on that offer?-Jamie'

I replied back quickly. 'Friendship first, than if you still like me, we can try more than friends. Should fair?'

'Okay I will just change the wedding date.' I laughed.

Boy was I wrong, Jamie and I started out friends for one month before I kissed him walking to my car after school. He was so surprised and from then on I knew that I was going to have to wear the pants in our relationship.
