Hatred Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

"You did not just say that to me" Sid said jumping off the table following me out of the room into my office
"What did I say?" I asked an innocently as possible
"You just called me a diver I'm not a diver!" Sid insisted
"I know, I'm sorry I don't know what came over me I shouldn't have said that to you it was inappropriate" I really wasn't sorry for saying it but I knew that bad mouthing the team I work for the the team captain probably wouldn't end well
"You're not sorry" Sis said simply like he read my mind
"Excuse me?"
"I know you and you're not sorry, I hate how trainers come here and kiss my ass because they think I hold the power I haven't met a person who stood up for their team you sticking up for the flyers they're you're team I respect that just like you call me a diver and I call your teams a bunch of goons" Sid explained and I knew he added in the last part just to get a rise out of me.
"Maybe for right now discussing hockey may not be a good idea since we both know we disagree with each other" I actually loves talking about hockey but I knew Sid would inevitably say something to me to set me off and I would most likely end up fired. Sid was quiet for a second before coach called him away to my relief. Since it was an optional skate it was a relatively slow day. I reorganized my new desk and added a few decorations to it to make it more my style. Later that afternoon Chris told me most of the players left so I could head out to. Since I started college I rarely had a free afternoon, I always found something that had to be done or taken care of but all my files were updated and treatment plans for the upcoming road trip were done and I had nothing to do. I laid on my hotel bed realizing that my life was now in Pittsburgh and a hotel probably wasn't going to suit living here so I got my laptop and started the search for an apartment. I found a few options but I fell in love with an apartment in Canonsburg not far from the practice facility for the Penguins. I called and luckily they had an appointment that afternoon to come in and take a look. I looked at a few models but the last one I knew was it. The apartment was a good size it had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, and its own laundry room. I told the landlord I would take it. After signing some documents and leaving a security deposit I was now the proud renter of my new apartment. On my way back to my hotel I called my mom to tell her to good news and to find out if she was willing to drive out to Pittsburgh to help me move in and bring my things from home. Of course she was more then willing to come and I told her that she could stay with me for as long as she wanted. After hanging up with my mom my phone almost immediately started ringing
"Hello?"
"Hey Presley! Its' Chris listen I need a favor"
"Sure anything you need"
"So the assistant trainer's wife is pregnant and she's close to giving birth so he's not going to be able to come on the road with us so I was hoping if you could come in his place?"
"Absolutely, but the first game is tomorrow didn't you leave already?"
"That's the thing Presley we're leaving in about 2 hours to fly to Florida so I would need to here in 45 minutes? I know it's short notice..."
"Any way you could stall for me to have an hour to get there it's just I'm not home so I need a minute to get there"
"Of course take you're time but I have to go finish getting everything together thanks again" Chris hung up and I instantly started to panic. Was I really ready to take a road trip with the team? Could I really deal with being on ice? I guess it's to late to back out now. I went as fast as possible to my hotel and packed and made it to the arena in a little less then an hour. Before I knew it I was on the plane jetting off to Florida. I sat in the back listening to some music trying to relax when I felt someone sit next me me. I peeked and saw it was Sid...great.
"Hey Sid you alright?" I asked
"I'm fine just confused"
"Okay? And why's that?" I asked confused
"Why come on a road trip with a team you hate?"
"Because it's my job?"
"You're not supposed to go on the road with us though so why did you come?"
"The one AT his wife is about to give birth so he didn't want to be thousands of miles away if she went into labor so Chris asked me to come in his place so it's only temporary" I explained
"So you were basically forced?"
"Basically" I said putting my head back and closing my eyes
"Well you know we play Philly on the last game of the trip" Sid said cockily
"I'm aware"
"And you know who's going to win?" Sid questioned
"The Flyers obviously" I smirked
"See why do you have to do that?"
"You told me you respected my choice in a team and supporting them so that's what I'm doing" I didn't mean for it to come out as sassy as it did but I knew I went a little to far when I saw Sid's face
"Well then...I guess I'll just go back to my seat...enjoy your flight Presley" Sid said starting to get up.
"No Sid wait" I said grabbing his hand which I regretted immediately as I dropped his hand "I didn't mean for that to sound like that I'm just exhausted and hungry and when that happens it's not a pretty sight so I apologize"
"It's fine don't worry get some sleep I'll wake you when we land" Sid said getting up from the seat. I nodded my head and closed my eyes drifting off to sleep.
