Night Out

Once we got back from dinner I sent Brendan to the table to do his homework that he hadn’t finished and I poured myself a glass of wine and sat in the recliner with the phone. I called Raina back and she answered quickly.

“Hey girl, so what did you think of his friends.” I let her know they seemed friendly enough. “They are really good guys. I miss them, I don’t get to see them enough.”

“So you met all of these guys through Max right. He said you and him knew each other before you met Danny.” She explained how her and Max met and how they were really close until she met Danny.

“Once Jordan and I got into it, Max and I didn’t talk too much until after I had the twins. Then when Danny came home from a meeting and said the Flyers were interested in giving him a long deal, I started talking to him more and more and now I’m so excited to have him back. He is too much fun. And girl, you are perfect for him.”

I just laughed. “ I wouldn’t say all of that.” I said and it was her turn to laugh. I talked to her for a few more minutes before just relaxing and drinking my wine.

Max came in around eleven o’clock or so. I was into my third glass of wine and feeling quite tipsy. I had had two glasses at dinner as well. He smiled at me. “Ready for bed pumpkin” he asked. I tripped on my way into the room and almost fell, still in my dress.

Max slid it over my head and I could smell the whiskey on him and I realized he was a little drunk himself. They had been at the bar since like eight thirty. He climbed in bed next to me, and pulled me close to him. “Babe, they loved you. They think you are the best.”

He pushed himself into me from behind and held me tight against him. “I need you Cal” he said as he slid himself almost entirely out of me before thrusting back into me. My insides felt like they were convulsing as he came, biting into my shoulder and moaning my name.

The alcohol and sleepiness must have been hitting him because he was mumbling something about the game tomorrow. I was just starting to fall asleep when he leaned over me. “Ya know, I do love you Cal, I just don’t know how to tell you.” I know he thought I was sleeping so I just stayed quiet, smiling to myself. For now, that was plenty good enough for me.

The next morning I got up quietly and let him sleep off the alcohol. I made Brendan breakfast and then took him to school. I called my sister and she ensured me she would pick him up from school and I would pick him back up tomorrow. I raced back to my apartment and made Max breakfast before waking him up. “Hey lazy, you gonna get up?” I asked and he rolled towards me.

“I guess Cal, I feel horrible. I didn’t think I drank that much.”

“You seemed like you may have done quite a few shots, whiskey maybe?” I asked and he groaned.

“Damn Geno, I remember he kept buying them for me. Marc and Sid didn’t really drink, just me and him.”

I rubbed his head. “Come on, I made you breakfast.”

He grinned. “I get homemade breakfast and all, Cal you are the best.” We sat down and ate and relaxed. Max’s phone rang a few times. “Cal do you mind if I have a few friends stop by here before I go to the rink?” he yelled to me as I was doing the dishes.

“That’s cool, Imma jump in the shower then. I don’t think I want you friends seeing me like this. I only had on a t-shirt at the moment.

He looked over at me and laughed “Nah, especially not Jordy.”

Once showered and dressed, I came out of the bedroom and could hear the voices down the hall. I walked into the living room and came face to face with a tall blond. He almost walked right into me.

“Umm sorry, you must be Callee, I’m Jordan.” He had the cutest lopsided smile. He reminded of a little boy and when he grinned his face lit up like a kid on Christmas morning. I just smiled at him.

Kris looked at me from across the room. “Hi Callee” he said, walking over towards me and grabbing my hand. “We have heard a lot about you.”

I smiled at him. “I have heard a lot about you guys too. He misses you guys.”

Jordan cracked up and put him in a headlock. "That is what you get for leaving us Max. We miss you too." Max got out of the headlock and kissed him on the check. I just laughed. They had such a relaxed friendship. It was great.

The guys finally left and I left for work. I was happy I was getting out early today. I had decided to go in for just a few hours. The overtime was too nice to turn away. I was looking forward to watching Max play his old teammates and then hanging out with them after the game. I worked a few hours then went home and got in the shower.

I left for the rink early. Raina and Danielle had promised to meet me there. They were excited about seeing the guys too. Somehow as much as these two teams hated each other on the ice, they made it work off the ice. I met the girls in the parking lot and we went in and grabbed a beer. Raina bought shots and we downed them before hitting our seats. We ended up getting another set of shots before the guys even got on the ice for pre-game. It was gonna be a long, alcohol filled night.
