I quickly looked up and saw the new rookie Kevin Hayes. I felt my cheek starting to heat up and I gave him an awkward smile.
"Yea, I'm sorry" I said while picking up the phone.
"It's ok, I just didn't want to interrupt something"
"No, the conversation was mainly an argument"
It was an awkward silence in the room. He just stood there scratching the back of his neck.
"Why don't you come over here to the scale and take off your shoes"
"um ok" he said while taking off his shoes.
"So Kevin, tell me how are you doing so far as a rookie?"
"its ok, I guess"
"Still nervous?" I asked while trying to balance the weights.
"Well yea, I could be apart of the team this season or head to juniors"
"From what I seen, keep doing what you're doing. I can see you on this team"
"Thanks"
"225 and 191 cm" I said while writing it in his chart.
"Is that a good thing?"
"Yea thats perfect for your height. Take a seat on the bed"
He smiled to himself. I took my Stethoscope and place on his chest.
"Breath in and out"
He did what he was instructed and I wrote more notes.
"So have the boys been helpful to you?"
"yes especially JT Miller and Brassard"
My heart jumped a little when he said his name. I left guilty for going off on him earlier.
"Really?" i asked while i hit his knees with the reflex hammer.
"Yea well Miller has gone threw this before and he's a big help. Drock adopted me as a little brother. We have hung out at the rink before practice and afterword and work on a few things"
"Aw thats so sweet" I said while taking his blood pressure.
"yea the whole team is awesome, they really have opened up to me"
"Thats good"
.....
"Alright Kev, you are healthy as a horse and you are good to go"
"ok thank you Nina"
"No problem, send me my next victim" I said with a smirk.
"Ha see you around"
"hey kev" I said before he left.
"Yea whats up?" he said while he turned around.
"If you ever need to talk to someone, my door is open" I said.
"Thank you, i really appreciate that"
He closed the door and I sat down on the desk. I was finishing up the chart, when the door was knocked again.
"Come in" I yelled.
"Hello Miss.Coronel" Brassard said.
" Hello Mr.Brassard" I said while getting up with his chart.
"Where would you like me to go?"
"Please take off your shoes and step on the scale"
He nodded and did what he was instructed. I stood next to him and took his weight and measurements.
"202 and 185 cm" I said while writing it on his chart.
He just nodded and we continued on with the physical. It was just me talking and him nodding. It was like we were strangers and this was strictly business. I guess thats what I wanted but it felt so weird.I know we only met a few days ago but we clicked. I see him as a good friend. I shouldn't care what Jonathan said.
"Are we done?" Derick asked.
"um yes, you are good to go"
He nodded again and started to walk away.
"Derick" I yelled.
"Yea?" he asked nervously.
"I'm sorry for my weird behavior this morning"
"It's ok Matts told me what happened this morning"
I looked down at the floor and felt tears come out.
"Hey, don't cry" he said while walking towards me and pulling my face up.
"I'm sorry, I just angry. I hold it in and I start to cry cause it hurts to keep it in"
"I understand" he pulled me into his arms and held me.
"Towes is a dick and you shouldn't believe what he says"
"he has a right to assume things but I would never cheat on someone. Even if we aren't officially together"
"Thats the point, You guys aren't boyfriend and girlfriend. I mean yea I would be upset if the girl I'm talking to ignores my messages and takes a picture of guys. Especially hot guys that are better looking than me. But I was in the picture and Im pretty good looking" he said with a laugh.
I pulled away and laughed along with him.
"now thats a smile" he said.
"thank you"
"no problem, friends?"
"friends" we both hugged it out.
"Alright I gotta go and meet up with Hags. I will send you your next victim" he said with a wink and walked away.
....
"How did you convince me to come?"
"Well you're hot and I'm your best friend"
"Thank you and you're hot too. But you could of brought someone else"
"Well let's see, Ally is running this event and Janine and Sam are on there way. I haven't seen my best friend in months!!! Even thou she's my new roommate and hasn't been in our new home yet. So when I was invited to this event, I decided to bring my best friend with me. So shoot me if I MISSED YOU!" my best friend Karina yelled.
"I missed you too!" I yelled back.
Karina and I have been best friends since we were in babies. She lived across the street from our whole lives. We went threw everything together and I mean everything. From our first bras, periods, crushes, first boyfriends, heartbreaks and even losing our virginities. Threw the good and the bad she was always there for me. We are practically sisters and I can't imagine life without her.
After Brassard and I made up earlier in the day, I somehow ended up on a train heading into the city. Karina gave me a call saying that our Alison was working "The End of the summer party" for US weekly. Alison got us on the list,which explains why we are getting out of a cab and about to walk the red carpet. (should I say blue, since Im seeing it now)
It was still one of thosse warm summer nights in the middle of September. The sun was setting down on this beautiful city I call home. The sky was this beautiful dark pink with a hint of orange.
"Karina Lopez and Nina Coronel" i heard my friend tell the lady with the clipboard.
"Yup here you go guys" the lady said while placing wristbands on our wrists.
"Thank you" we both said and started to walk.
The carpet was filed with celebrities, socialites, and some athletes. We kept walking by trying to not interrupt the paparazzi. We were almost at the end until I felt someone grab me.
"Woe, where you going killer?" I heard that amazing french accent.
I turned around and was stunned to see Derick. He looked amazing in his blue suit and white button up. His brown dress shoes matched perfectly with his belt. I couldn't stop starring at his dark brown eyes and his perfectly groomed beard. I also noticed his fresh new hair cut.
"Shit Brass, you scared me" I said while placing my hand over my heart.
"I'm sorry, what are doing you here?" he asked while looking at me up and down.
I blushed and looked at him "my friend is running this event and Im here with my best friend Karina"
"Oh if I knew you were coming, you could've rode with us"
"Us?"
"Yea, Hags is here too"
I quickly nodded and was a bit relieved that Hags came with him.
"Brassard over here" we heard one of the camera man yell.
"No over here!!!" we heard another.
"I better get going to my friend" I said while walking away.
"Can we get a picture of you too" someone yelled.
"Me?" I asked.
"Yes! Get closer to Derick"
I looked at him with a confuse look " Come on, I don't bite"
I pushed him lightly and he moved closer to me. This might sound a bit cliché but it felt like the movies. He placed his hands on my waist as I did the same with him. I felt my body heat rise and a smile some out.
"Thats it smile a bit more" someone yelled.
"You look beautiful" he whispered in my ear.

I looked down and back at him with a wide smile. Which gave him permission to pull me closer to him.
I was wearing a black romper that had black lace sleeves and low cut neck. My back was exposed. Thank god for tape to protect me from a nip slip. The romper ended before my knees. Exposing my (thank god) tan legs and I had little red pumps.
My hair was down in loose waves. My eye make up was smoky with a thick black wing. I also had a dark wine lipstick.

"Just like that, perfect" we saw flash coming from the camera.
"Looking good Nina" Hags said.
"Hey there blondie" I said while giving him a hug.
He was wearing a gray suite and white dress shirt along with it. His long blonde hair was pulled back behind his ear.
"Can we get a picture of the three you together"
The three of us posed together and smiled.
"Derick! Who is the mystery girl" someone yelled.
"Nina Coronel, get use to her around us" Derick yelled.

We finished taking pictures and I saw Karina at the end of the carpet. She had her hand on her hip and raised her eyebrow at me.

"I had no clue where you went, until I heard the commotion from the paparazzi" she said to me.
"Sorry, I saw her walk by me and I pulled her towards me. I'm Derick Brassard" he said while pulling his hand out to her.
"Hello I'm Karina Lopez" she said while shaking his hand.
"Nice to meet you and this is Carl Haglin" he introduce Karina to him.
"Nice to meet you, Shall we go in" Karina asked while holding my hands.

"You have a lot to explain"she said in my ear while we all walked inside the building
