Buzz....buzz...
Out of habit, Jolene shot out of her bed and grabbed her phone. "Yeah?" She barked, ready to grab for her briefcase and anything else she may need.
"Oh...hi. Is this Jolene?" The familiar sounding girl asked timidly.
Shaking out her head, Jolene laughed. "Oh...Kat, right? Sorry to sound all professional on you. Thought it was law stuff."
"It's five in the morning! How are you doing lawyer stuff this early?" Kat asked.
"People take captnaps then suddenly we get new breaks in cases," Jolene said.
There was a hushed conversation and then Kat finally spoke again. "I know this is early but how about helping me out on a makeup segment?" Kat asked. "We'll go get a coffee later on me!"
Pausing for a moment, Jolene said, "Sure. I'll shower and then come in."

After leaving a note for Ashley and Liam, she drove through the snowy roads and found the station that Kat worked at. A new station employer brought her to where they did hair and makeup where Kat had her hair done up in hair rollers.
"Hey, why have your hair all done up like that when you can just have some of my curls?" Jolene joked and tugged at her head full of dark brown curls. "Anyways, I don't know how this stuff goes. I did shower but if you need my hair straightened, then go for it."
"No," Kat and the hair stylist said together.
One of the hockey girlfriends from last night walked in, eyes puffy while she sipped a hot cup of coffee. "Why are you so alert already?" Tori griped as she sat in the chair.
"I have lawyer blood," Jolene joked as the hairstylist started going to work. "Should I have worn any sort of makeup? I didn't put anything on just in case."
"No I'll be doing that," Kat said. "Oh Joolleeennee."
She looked at the screen that Kat was pointing at where some Calgary Flames players were talking on the screen. "Interview?" Jolene asked.
"Its for the charity stuff you saw yesterday." Tori noted, watching her carefully.

The boys finished up the interviews and Sean came over to her. "How's Liam?" Sean asked.
Pleased he asked about his friend instead of driving straight on to hit on her, she perked up. "Seemed a little better once he sat down some. Had some tough physical therapy I guess." Holding up a finger, Jolene asked, "Kat? Are our names being announced during this filming thing?"
"Not if you don't want them to," Kat said while Tori looked at her curiously.
Jolene nodded once. "I don't need the attention. Plus its your segment."

Kat gestured for her so she followed Tori and sat down in one of the chairs set out of the both of them. Soon cameras were rolling and Kat and her host friend Ellie started chattering about the latest makeup trends.
First they started on Tori as Jolene watched curiously. As they chattered, Jolene couldn't help but sit back and envy them a little. What a laid back, chill job. Fun too. A complete 360 from her own job. For a few moments, she was lost in thought and suddenly jumped when something was in her face. "Woah!" She laughed.
"Apparently our model needs some coffee," Ellie crinkled her nose in a cute way and giggled.
"What's this? Loose powder foundation?" Jolene joked back. "How angry would you be if I sneezed right now? Should we see what happens? Ouch," she complained when Kat wacked her with the wand part of the foundation brush.
When the segment was over, Jolene glanced over at Tori and hoped that her antics weren't some sort of sign to Tori that she was hogging attention. However, she snorted and said, "I can't believe you joked about sneezing into makeup on live air."
"Hey, I can't always have fun and make jokes," Jolene said honestly. "I'm buried up past my ears with legal papers."
Tori grinned. "Hey. I'm gonna go home and sleep now that this crap is done with. Maybe we should get lunch or something." She looked past Jolene and wagged her eyebrows. "Or maybe I'll take a rain check."

"Wanna get out of here?" Sean asked and she slowly took out her keys. "I didn't drive so that works."
"Hope my truck's okay," Jolene admitted sheepishly. "Typical country I know. So where am I driving to?" Sean pointed in the direction of the Saddledome. "Oh god you're teaching me to skate," she groaned. "You might want to have Advil on hand for after."
All he did was laugh when he directed her to pull in. When they got inside, Sean disappeared somewhere and came out with a pair of skates. "I'm sure my sister won't mind you borrowing them. She left them behind by accident."
Praying the bumps and bruises wouldn't be too bad, she laced up her skates and hobbled over to the ice. "You're gonna need to catch me," she warned fairly when he swung the door open for her.

"So...how much experience are we talking about?" Sean asked as he held out his hand once she managed to get on the ice. "A couple times?"
Jolene launched forward and grabbed him. "Uh-uhh," she wobbled, doing her best to keep her legs straight. "Maybe once or twice. Boston I think." Huffing and puffing, she clung onto him as he brought her to the center of the ice.
Smiling, he said, "Relax. I won't let you drop. Don't be all rigid." Down she went on the ice. "Shit. Here," he helped her up. "Hold on and I'll pull you. Skate like you're rollerblading."
That could work. She saw plenty of that in California. As she clung on for dear life and moved her legs. As he made her do some loops, she scoffed at herself. She had done more dumber, much more risk taking things in her life. As if a professional hockey player would drop her.
"There you go!" Sean grinned as she gained some confidence. "Think you can start skating by yourself?"

"So when are we teaching her hockey?" Lance called from the bench. "You should have heard her last night."
Jolene spat, "Screw you at least I went to Harvard!"
Lance cackled. "I thought you were a Southern belle!"
She narrowed her eyes and made a rude gesture that Lance laughed at. "Got Boston Irish in me too bud," Jolene shot back. That got a laugh from the rest of the guys as Lance grinned sheepishly. "Hey I'm not doing too bad either," Jolene said and skated a little on her own until she tripped and faecplanted into the ice.

"Oh shit," Lance snorted but remembered to go try to help Sean lift her up. "You're doing good American, don't worry."
Jolene instinctively shoved him in the chest and knocked him down. "Payback," she announced as the guys burst into laughter again. Seeing the coach she met yesterday, she skated over and asked, "Want me off?"
"I suppose the guys wanted some ice time," Coach Bob snorted. "But I don't mind you putting them in their places after someone filled my car with packing peanuts."
Crossing her arms. she called out, "Damn y'all are screwed. I'm outta here."
"I'm taking a day off, you want lunch?" Sean asked.

"Sure," Jolene shrugged and went to go take off Sean's sister's skates. As she unlaced the skates, she noticed a blond girl staring at her. Eyes drifting to her ring finger, she saw the girl was married. Obviously to a player. "Sup?" She greeted her.
The girl crossed her arms over her chest and said sarcastically, "Sean really knows how to pick the good ones,"
Keeping the venom out of her voice, Jolene asked, "You mean Harvard, a high ranking law school in the US?" As the girl's expression slipped, she picked up the skates, stood up and winked at the wife. "Have a blessed day Miss," she said, kicking up the Southern manners and the accent. In her mother's language, she muttered, "Dumbass."
