Teach Me How to Dougie

Eleven

In the weeks to come, Dougie and I talked and hung out as much as possible. With my busy school schedule and his practice and game schedule, it wasn't always that easy. But I'd text him before each game, wishing him good luck, and he'd always do the same for me when I had a big test or presentation. I'd gone over to his place a few more times, and we would just cuddle on the couch and watch movies while chatting about whatever came to our minds. I'd even gotten to know Reilly and Ryan a little more, as they would sometimes hang around while I was over at Dougie's. Overall, I was happier than I had ever been.

It was Friday, and I had had a long and busy week. I was so thankful to only have one class and couldn't wait to get it over with. The weather had started getting colder, but it was still nice enough to walk around campus without getting frostbite.

That morning, I had put on a pair of dark was skinny jeans, riding boots, and a black sweater. My hair was down, as usual, and I had actually remembered to put on my glasses. I was on my way to class, when my phone rang.

I pulled my phone out, smiling as Dougie's name popped up on the screen. We actually talked on the phone a lot, which I thought was nice since most people relied solely on texting. But hearing Dougie's voice on the phone never failed to make me happy.

"Hey you. What's up?"

"Just eating breakfast. What are you up to?"

I laughed. It was almost 10:00 AM and I had been up since 8:30 AM.

"You're just eating breakfast now? I'm on my way to class!"

I could hear his laugh through the phone.

"Sorry I'm not as perfect as you!"

"Hey, don't be sorry. Not many people are."

"Wow, so modest. So..." Dougie was quiet for a moment. "Would you be up for a visit to the Garden tonight?"

The B's had a big game tonight, against the Rangers. I'd obviously been planning to watch it at home, but I played coy and pretended I had no idea what was going on.

"Oh, could we go to the Pro Shop? I really want to buy some Celtics gear."

"I mean, you could do that if you really wanted. I was kinda thinking that you could come watch me play, though."

I sighed exaggeratedly.

"Hmmm... I don't know. I'm not really a big hockey fan." I laughed and gave up my act. "Okay, fine. I'd love to come watch you play."

"Great! I'll leave the tickets at the window. See ya then Chlo."

"Bye Dougie."

"LET'S GO HAMILTON WOOOHOOO!"

I stood on my feet, pounding on the glass as Dougie raced by, narrowly avoiding a hit by a Rangers player. I was alone at the game tonight, as Holly had to babysit. She wasn't happy to miss the game, but said she'd watch on TV once the kids were asleep. I promised to send her lots of Snapchats.

The buzzer sounded thirty seconds later, signaling the end of the third period and a HUGE win by the Bruins. They had won in a shutout victory, 6-0, and the crowd was going absolutely wild. The team had just left the ice, whooping and hollering along with the crowd. I was still smiling and banging on the glass after the buzzer had sounded.

I sat back in my seat, waiting to text Dougie and congratulate him on the great win. He had had two assists and had played an amazing game.

*Chloe: Congrats superstar! What a game. :)*

I stood up and started walking up the stairs in an attempt to leave the Garden. My phone buzzed.

*Dougie: Thanks babe. You wanna go celebrate with the guys and I? We were gonna hit up a club in a few.*

I let out an audible laugh, gathering attention from a few nearby fans. In my short time knowing Dougie Hamilton, I had gotten to know him pretty well. He had never mentioned going to a club or doing anything similar, so I was taken a little off guard. I wasn't necessarily the type to want to go out, either, but I was feeling pumped after the game and figured he was, too.

*Chloe: Wow, a chance to see Dougie Hamilton at a club? I can't miss that.*

*Dougie: lol Okay, Looch is driving us, so we can pick you up at your place in like an hour.*

I sent a quick thumbs up and continued on my walk out of the Garden, planning my outfit in my head.

Yeah, it sure sucks. Thank you for your support, though! I'll try to continue it, cuz I did like where it was heading and was having fun writing it. :)

I'm so upset about the trade but I hope you continue this one, it's so cute
