Teach Me How to Dougie
Fourteen
The sun peeked from behind the curtains as I opened my eyes. I was lying on my side, my head resting on Dougie's chest. He was still sound asleep, so I moved quietly as to not disturb him.
I was still in my underwear, but it was kind of cold in his room, so I picked up the extra blanket lying at the foot of the bed and wrapped it around myself. I walked over to the window, carefully parting the curtains to look out at the city.
Wow. The city was spread out below me, sun shining with some clouds in the sky. The Charles river sparkled in the sun light and I could see a few boats out on the water. Bodies dotted the sidewalks, walking throughout the city and enjoying the day.
I heard some rustling behind me and looked over my shoulder.
"Mmm, good morning", Dougie spoke as he sat up and stretched his arms.
I walked over to the bed and sat next to Dougie, who had moved over and made some room for me at his side. Leaning forward and keeping the blanket wrapped around me, I placed a gentle kiss on his lips.
"Good morning".
"How are you feeling?"
Now that he mentioned it, I guess I did feel a little off. I mean, sure we had both sobered up by the time we had gotten back to his place. But I had lost count of all the drinks I had had at the club, and having spent the entire time with Dougie, knew that he had had a lot to drink, too. My throat felt kinda dry and my head hurt a little.
I shrugged.
"I've felt better. But, I've also felt worse. Nothing some water and an Advil can't fix. Are you feeling okay?"
He nodded, rubbing at his eyes.
"Yeah, a little tired, but I'm good."
He pushed himself off of the bed, placing his feet on the ground and standing tall. He let out a yawn as he stretched again.
I laughed as he started walking to the door, about to open it. He stopped when he noticed I wasn't moving.
"You wanna come get some food?"
I stood up, walking towards him and dropping the blanket.
"I mean, I do like this bra a lot, but I'm not sure I want to show it off to your roommates just yet."
Dougie looked down at his own almost-naked body and laughed.
"Huh, yeah. Maybe we should both put something on. Although, if it's any consolation, I really like your outfit right now, too."
I blushed as Dougie walked over to his dresser and began digging through the drawers. He pulled out a pair of sweatpants and a long-sleeved shirt, holding them out to me.
"The pants are from when I was little younger, but they'll probably still be a little too big. And the shirt is pretty big, too. Sorry."
I slipped the shirt over my head, laughing at how long the sleeves were. It reached down to about the length of the dress I had worn the night before, rolling up the sleeves. I noticed "Boston Bruins" lettering on the front, and a little number 27 on the chest.
Dougie had put on a pair of shorts and stared at me. He smiled, still looking a little sleepy.
"Maybe you should just wear that."
I rolled my eyes, slipping on the pants.
"Yeah, definitely a good look."
I had to roll the waistband a few times and tie the drawstring tight, but the pants actually weren't too bad. I looked in the mirror above Dougie's dresser, admiring my makeup from last night. Besides being smudged a little around my eyes, it actually didn't look too bad. I threw my hair up into a bun, thankful for the hair tie I always kept on my wrist.
"No shirt?" I asked Dougie, who was standing near the door in just a pair of athletic shorts.
"Nah."
I laughed and walked up to him crossing my arms and looking up into his face.
"I'm not complaining."
He smiled and kissed my forehead. We walked out of his room and into the living room, where the TV was already on. Ryan and Reilly were on the couch watching some movie. They looked up at us as we entered the room, Reilly the first to speak, of course.
"Look who it is! The two lovebirds emerging from their nest!"
Dougie walked over to where Reilly sat and punched him playfully in the arm.
"Funny, bud. Why don't you stick to hockey and leave the jokes to someone else."
I noticed Ryan laughing next to him and even I couldn't help but join in. Dougie had gone over the kitchen to get us both a glass of water. He sat in the arm chair next to the couch, and I sat comfortably on his lap.
The door to the bathroom opened up and Pasta walked out, waving as he saw me. He sat on the couch between Ryan and Reilly, looking smiley as always.
"Chloe, how you feel this morning?"
I gave him a strange look, but answered.
"Um, I'm okay, thanks. How are you?"
Pasta started to laugh, sharing that he was good, but not letting me in on what was so funny.
Ryan looked at me, as he was sitting on the end of the couch closest to where Dougie and I sat.
"You, uh, were a little extra friendly last night when you got home."
I thought back to last night, remembering that I had sort of yelled/greeted Pasta upon entering Dougie's apartment. We really didn't know each other very well, so my enthusiasm was a bit of a surprise, I guess. Apparently I was a little more tipsy than I thought.
"Oh, god, I'm sorry." I put my head in my hands and groaned.
"No! Very funny and nice! Don't be sorry."
Pasta grinned at me and gave me a reassuring look before returning his focus to the TV.
I put my water down on the coffee table and snuggled closer to Dougie, who hugged his arms around my waist as we watched TV.
--------
A few hours had passed since emerging from Dougie's room. Pasta had gone home, but not before I had stood up and given him a hug. He was a really sweet kid and I guess my drunk greeting last night had been an attempt to start a friendship with him. He had made some commentary during the movie and, from seeing him on and off the ice, seemed like a really happy and funny guy.
I had checked my phone, noticing that it was already 2:00 PM, and decided it was time to go home. I called an Uber to pick me up, not in the mood for a "walk of shame" style T ride. I said my goodbyes to Ryan and Reilly, and Dougie and I headed outside.
"Do you want me to ride with you back to your apartment?"
Dougie looked at me, grabbing my hand.
"I don't want you to have to go all the way there and back."
He shrugged his shoulders.
"I really don't mind."
I couldn't deny that I wanted to spend more time with him, so I accepted his offer. We hopped into the car and began the fifteen minute drive to my place.
------------
I took my keys out of the clutch I had brought out last night, which definitely didn't go with my current outfit, and opened the door. I had invited Dougie up, we both walked into my apartment, which looked even smaller than normal after spending so much time in Dougie's massive apartment.
Holly hopped up off of the couch, stopping in her steps when she noticed I wasn't alone.
"Oh, uh, hi guys! How was your night?"
She looked at me and winked, and I rolled my eyes.
"Eh, pretty boring. What do you think, Dougie?"
He chuckled as I grabbed his hand and led him to my closet so I could change into some clothes that actually fit.
The closet was pretty decent in size, but Dougie's size made it seem pretty small. I untied the sweatpants and grabbed a pair of yoga pants out of my drawer. I looked over my shoulder as Dougie stood behind me, wiggling my eyebrows as I stood in my underwear and his shirt. It was pretty easy to get a laugh out of him, so I wasn't surprised to see him laugh as I lifted up my shirt and wiggled my butt.
"Y'know, you can keep that if you want", Dougie mumbled.
"Hmm?"
He cleared his throat and spoke up.
"That looks pretty good on you. You should keep it."
I smiled, letting the edges of the shirt fall from my hands and slipping my arms around his neck, standing on my toes and giving him a quick peck on the lips.
"Thank you."
Dougie put his hands on my back, lowering them to rest on my bare ass. His warm hands reminded me that I still hadn't put hands on.
"I should probably put pants on, though."
I kissed him again and put my pants on, and we walked back out to join Holly in the main part of the apartment.
Dougie sighed and looked at his phone.
"Well, I have to head back and get ready for a quick work out. Coach wants us to be ready for our game on Monday."
The B's had another big game on Monday and it was out of town. As much as I wanted to spend a ton of time with him, I understood that he had important things to do, and honestly I probably had homework to do myself.
"Bye Dougie! Maybe sometime I'll be able to talk to you for more than two minutes", Holly chimed in.
"Yeah, totally. I'll come visit soon."
I wrapped my arms around Dougie and he enveloped me in a hug, holding on tight. I breathed in and the scent of his cologne left over from last night filled my nose. After a few seconds we pulled apart and I looked into his eyes. He leaned down and kissed me deeply, breaking apart after a few moments and exiting our apartment.
"SHIT that was adorable", Holly commented from the couch. "Now, tell me every dirty detail from last night!"
I hopped on the couch right next to her, rolling my eyes and laying my head against the cushion.
"Hmm... I mean, not much to tell..."
Total B.S., but I loved to annoy Holly.
